Inside the shop, Kael was gnawing on a roast leg of lamb while his eyes remained glued to the crystal ball. He had just concluded another simulated battle with practiced ease.
"It’s getting easier. I guess I’ll have to wait for the Combat Arena to upgrade for a real challenge," Kael muttered, pulling his hands away from the crystal ball’s base. He tore a succulent chunk of meat from the bone with his teeth.
At that moment, Shier walked over from the adjacent general store.
"Manager, there’s a customer asking for you."
"Can't you just give him the pitch? Let him pick whatever he needs," Kael waved her off lazily.
The leather sofa in the booth was incredibly comfortable—so soft that Kael felt himself sinking into it, losing the will to move. If the booth were just a bit larger so he could fully lie down, he’d prefer sleeping here over his actual bed. With snacks within arm's reach, he had zero motivation to get up.
"It’s not that, Manager. It’s because the stock on the shelves isn't enough," Shier explained.
Since Shier didn't have access to the warehouse, she had no choice but to fetch Kael whenever the displayed inventory ran low.
Hearing this, Kael didn't say another word. He dropped the lamb leg and sprang up from the sofa instantly.
A big deal was calling.
"I’ve got it," Kael said, straightening his clothes and regaining his usual expressionless mask.
A plump man with a neat mustache stood in the center of the shop, eyeing the merchandise on the racks.
"Oh, it's Robert. What can I get for you this time?" Kael recognized him immediately. It was Robert, the Cloud Mist City bursar who had brought him over 400,000 Spirit Crystals during his last visit.
Robert saw Kael and quickly tipped his hat in a gentlemanly greeting. "Respected Manager Kael, it is a pleasure to see you again. I am currently serving as the Quartermaster for the duration of this war."
"I am here to procure supplementary pills and replace depleted equipment. I was wondering how much stock you have on hand." He paused, his expression serious. "Your shop's gear and elixirs are the linchpins of this campaign."
Indeed, a massive deal.
Kael glanced out the door and spotted a carriage waiting outside. It seemed they had brought a significant amount of Spirit Crystals.
"Don't worry about the stock. I can provide as much as you need," Kael said flatly.
"With your word, I am at ease. Here is the procurement list," Robert said, producing a parchment from his coat.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
The list detailed a massive quantity of pills, along with a smaller but significant number of armor pieces and weapons. Every item was meticulously tallied. Unlike the mercenary groups who just grabbed whatever they liked and settled the bill at the end, the regular army was rigorous in its logistics.
"The quantities are fine. Did you bring men to haul the gear?" Kael asked, scanning the list.
"Of course. I am well aware of your policies, Manager. The carriage is right outside," Robert nodded.
"Good. Wait here a moment."
"Manager, do you need my help?" Shier followed him, asking softly.
She was still quite curious about the shop's warehouse. She had never seen Kael receive a shipment from outside; he was either sleeping, in the Arena, or manning the counter. She had no idea where the goods came from. However, she knew better than to ask certain questions—and the warehouse was clearly one of them.
"Just keep an eye on him for me," Kael said, pointing at Robert, before disappearing into the back room.
It was finally time for a massive pull from the Weapon and Armor Gacha Pools.
Kael had previously been concerned about warehouse capacity, so he hadn't pulled much since the expansion. Some of the "hidden" equipment that unlocked after the expansion hadn't even appeared yet.
System, top me up, Kael called out in his mind. Since the installation of the automated collection box, Spirit Crystals for top-ups were deducted directly from the shop's intake.
[System: Fees collected.]
Kael rubbed his hands together and immersed his consciousness into the System.
"Let's go. It’s good to be rich."
The altar representing the Weapon Pool began to flash violently as icons of various armaments strobed across its surface before being deposited into the warehouse.
Blade of Greed (Superior Rank Weapon): Slightly increases Attack. Includes Passive Skill: Greed.
Greed: Absorbs surrounding energy and stores it within the blade, adding it to the next attack. Storage Limit: Class-rank.
Gluttonous Greatsword (Superior Rank Weapon): Slightly increases Attack. Includes Passive Skill: Gluttony.
Gluttony: Each strike leeches a small amount of Health and Mana from the target and returns it to the user.
Staff of Envy (Rare Rank Weapon): Moderately increases Magic Potency. Includes Passive Skill: Envy. > * Usage Restriction: Any Mage Class.
Envy: The lower the user's Mana, the more powerful the spells cast. Maximum Multiplier: 100x.
"As expected of hidden weapons... this power is beyond my imagination."
Kael swallowed hard as he looked at the three new additions.
The Blade of Greed was a clear burst-type weapon. If the passive energy was capped, a single strike could potentially match the full-power blow of a peak Class-rank expert. While he didn't know the charging speed yet, the description alone was terrifying.
The Gluttonous Greatsword was self-explanatory—as long as an opponent couldn't finish you in one hit, you would inevitably win the war of attrition.
But the Staff of Envy was what truly stunned him. A 100-fold increase when Mana was low? The sheer destructive potential was nightmare fuel.
"Wait, these names..."
Kael seemed to remember something, but after checking the now-overflowing warehouse, he shifted his focus to the Armor Pool.
Lazy Heavy Plate (Superior Rank Armor): Slightly increases Physical Defense and Magic Resistance. Includes Passive Skill: Sloth.
Sloth: When the user remains stationary, Physical Defense and Magic Resistance increase rapidly. This bonus persists for 30 seconds after movement resumes. Stacking Limit: Class-rank.
Buckler of Pride (Rare Rank Armor): Slightly increases Physical Defense and Magic Resistance. Includes Passive Skill: Pride.
Usage Restriction: Heavy Warrior, Shield Warrior, Heavy Knight, Shield Knight.
Pride: Every time an attack is blocked or received, Physical Defense or Magic Resistance (depending on the attack type) doubles. Maximum Multiplier: 128x.
"I knew it."
At this point, Kael was certain of his theory. Including the Furious Greatsword (Wrath) that had appeared much earlier, six of the seven prefixes for the Seven Deadly Sins had now surfaced.
