  CHAPTER 137: | THE DEVIL’S CONQUEST

  ---

~ ? ~ Western Continent — Under the Lake of Dreadnought — In the Imperial Palace of the Athen Empire ~ ? ~

In the heart of the imperial palace of the Athen Empire, where the walls in every corners of the palace were laced with thin gold, and these gold weren't just some normal gold but it was magic gold, a term used for golds that had long since absorbed the spiritual energies in the atmosphere, thus becoming something stronger than soft gold.

While it was still soft compared to the other metals that civilizations forged mined in the earth, still this gold weren't entirely useless other than being used as a symbol of currency or to show the decadence of one residence to their guest, since this gold was practically the mercury in the olden times in earth, an ingredient used to create a miraculous elixir that no amount of words, poetry, records wouldn't be able to describe since it is entirely possible to create an elixir that is capable to extend the lifespan of the flesh for hundreds of years at the lowest and a thousand with the best alchemist refining it.

So hauling something of this scale were practically impossible to do since nations would fight for just a piece of this palace laced with gold from to bottom, from furniture to walls to ceilings to floors.

This imperial palace itself was the symbol of decadence, the place that only the bloodline of the Athen royalties could access of, but in these times of war where the almighty Tyrant of the northern part of the southern part of the lake of dreadnought were forced into submission, such procedures were dismissed as something unnecessary.

As a hulking figure walked across the hallways with its every steps leaving a trail of its footsteps that looked inhumane, since this being weren’t a human like a humanoid similar to that of a dwarf, or elf, but he was beast that had a humanoid body but still a beast, it was none other than Theodore, hailed as 'The White Devil'.

It was a title that the Athen derived from his actions in these past months that they were at war, all thanks to his cold calculations that even made him do the unthinkable, and it was to sacrifice nearly half of his force to forcefully advance faster than what the Athens calculated.

It was a bold yet risky maneuver that even the Imperial Advisors wouldn't advise their emperor of, but take a look at where he was now, look at where his feet touched right now, it was none other than the imperial palace of the Athens, where he breached in less than half a year, accompanied by her sister Celeste, which they've hailed as 'Helena Eyes.' A title only those who have reached the highest level of the craft of Illusionist were called 'Helena', a symbol of respect that acquitted it with the supreme goddess of Illusion who's Illusory power were even able to entice the gods in the high heavens.

And the Athens weren't mistaken in claiming her to be 'Helena Eyes' because one look from Celeste eyes were enough to entice someone to switch their allegiance in a whim to serve her for life like her dispensable meat bag, since what exactly happened in the battlefield were a nightmare that the term 'PTSD' alone wouldn't do justice to her works.

Since the battle had become a total nightmare at her arrival, sword brothers stabbed each other's lovers, killed each other in a way to curry for her interest, generals lodged their weapons at their chest killing them in an instant, then followed pure chaos where the remaining generals, commanders, losses their grasp on the battlefield.

The discipline that they've implemented at their man were worthless in the face of her, thus the war ended in less than half a year with them emerging victorious.

The siblings stopped their steps at the front of a massive door leading to the throne room where the emperor of Athens were waiting for them.

Theodore glanced at Celeste and Celeste nodded as Theodore lifted a fist then placed it against the door before pushed it while exerting the least bit of force as to not destroy the door, but to his dismay the door broke into pieces like brittle obsidians exploding outwards in the throne room. As he took a step then another, only stopping when he was face to face with the emperor sitting on the throne, he lowered his chin then stared at the emperor, which in turn stared at him.

The guards all around the throne room were enraged at his attitude, but soon those guards went into silence from a mere glance from Celeste as she sat on one of them that acted as a chair as she took a whiff from what seems like an opium pipe then spoke menacingly.

"Fufufu! I didn't expect that the Emperors of the Athens to be this young and fair looking. If I had known about it sooner maybe such an unnecessary war would have been avoided, don't you agree Theodore?"

The emperor of the Athens, Lucille III, merely cast a glance at theodore face for a second then into Celeste as he smiled softly at her comments. ‘I see so this is the two devils that will lead my plans to ruins.’

Lucille III looked almost bored at this situation since he was practically in a repeat in a loop trapped by his ability that wouldn't end until he found the way to live. It was such a pity that he who's power in the imperial palace held nothing to the nobles in his empire since he was merely a puppet, a jester that the grand duke of the west had basically chosen to act in this play in sabotaging these two siblings.

He was tired in his life that wouldn't end even if he wanted it. He sighed and looked at Celeste with an affectionate face since he knows that he was destined to live in this juncture only to have Celeste fall in him later with him falling harder before they've died at the hands at the grand duke of the west. He sighed yet again then muttered, but before he could speak Celeste spoke first.

"Theodore I like this young man so let him live even if it meant that he become lower than a pig since when I've investigated this young man I've uncovered something unsettling and that he..."

"He possesses the ability to see the future like some kind of prophet which he would become a valuable assets when I tame him."

Theodore nodded his head since he too knows about this fact then grabbed Lucille III by his neck and before Lucille III could react, Theodore had already hurled him at Celeste like a spear.

Celeste herself had casually lifted a hand and an illusory hand materialized into the folds of reality and solidified in the next as it turned into a cushion where Lucille III landed with ease before Theodore sat on the throne then spoke calmly.

"The western duke should act preemptively after seeing this display of violence right sister?"

Lucille III hearing his words merely closed his eyes and let his mind drift into the dreamscape since he had already known what would unfold from this moment on.

He sighed knowing that this route would lead to Celeste death. He sighed yet again then opened his eyes, bothered at the notion of her death, as he spoke calmly.

"The two of you should completely abandon this approach since it only lead to more death, specially you Celeste, will be dying a little bit earlier at this rate."

In response to his warning Theodore merely smiled with a hint of amusement while Celeste herself took another puff in her opium pipe as she smiled softly then spoke in a calm manner that even Lucille was shocked by his unfeeling words.

"Then so be it, if it meant, that Theodore succeeds then so be it, my death is a cheap price to pay for my mother to live another leisure day."

Theodore clicked the handrest of the throne with bitterness but then he recomposed himself and smiled in a cold calculating manner.

Celeste noticing it appreciated his brother concern while Lucille III was dumbfounded at this brother and sister dou, but soon snapped from a thunderous clap from Theodore.

"A relevant price to pay if if only ends with the death of sister Celeste, but a pity ended that the young emperor and prophet of the Athens declared you to die, so I grant you some personal freedom Celeste by my decree that you're allowed to indulge in any form of affairs that mother prohibited us."

Lucille III was quite shocked that a new branch had been created, he was in disbelief that Theodore allowed her sister to indulge in things that their mother had strictly prohibited.

He smiled since there was hope to save his beloved, but before he could think of anything else, Celeste had already fling his opium pipe away as he grabbed the overjoyed yet now shocked Lucille III away from the room as she shouted loudly,

  "Then don't mind me brother!"
