“We believe it is one of those monster’s eggs, and it somehow ended up here.”
Yeah, that would be enough to cause massive beasts to try to come in and fight a group of wolves. They might have tried to recover the egg. But how did it get here?
Fir approached the egg and began to sniff it.
They should have a keen sense of smell.
[Wolves and other species of the same category have a Racial Skill known as [Keen Smell] that allows them to differentiate different smells on the same objects when they sniff them. This was, they can try to track down specific living beings]
“I got nothing!” Fir answered with a stupid smile.
Agh! I was expecting something else!
“Except… for a smell I cannot recognize…”
“Because it smells like a wolf… just one I don’t recognize. But it is not rare, this is a burrow we usually let visitors use.”
He should have begun with that. So, an unknown wolf must have carried that egg inside the burrow and pnted it there.
[Analysing… that could mean it was a possible attempt at erasing the cn of wolves]
I agreed with Erika, if they couldn’t recognize the smell, I was fearing that this was some form of attempt to take out that cn.
“Is not rare, other wolves explore and ask for protection during the night. Usually we give them an empty burrow, like this one.” the wolf commented.
“Ah, right, the visitors from the West Cn. They said they were looking for a missing member and their smell brought them here.” Fir affirmed.
“Y-you seriously don’t believe it was them, Master Alice?” Fir stuttered.
“We don’t really know…”
“How are we meant to do so? They could be anywhere and, even back to their Cn.”
“Eeh…” Fir hesitated for a moment, “I will be honest, Master Alice. I don’t think the West cn did this.”
“Elder… you say it because of…?”
“N-no! This has nothing to do with the leader of the West Cn being my ex wife!”
“Ah! D-don’t mind mind that, master. I don’t think she is the kind of person to do this sort of thing!”
[You just want the gossip]
Shut up, Erika! It is an important matter of security! Intel on possible threats for the Cn! And stuff like that!

“I-I’m serious, Lady Alice… she is not that type of wolf…”
That’s when we got interrupted by another wolf, who came into the borrow panting and yelling.
“H-here you are! Elder… Master Alice! There are problems outside!”
Outside of the burrow, something was beginning. A group of three wolves came into town and sat in the middle of it. Only a few of my cn were outside, and the hunters were all outside.
“We found out that the Cn got attacked by the giant lizards. We have come to your aid!” The one in the middle spoke. He seemed to be the leader. The fur on his forehead was white.
“Yeah!” the one on his right, scrawny and seemed hyperactive, followed, “we are from the West Cn! Here to offer… offer you join us!”
“Ummm… is ‘ offer you to join us’…” the third one expined, who seemed to be the youngest of the group.
“Silence, you two!” the leader yelled, and took a few steps forward, “so, I have come here to help you all, in all of my humble goodwill!” he said with a paw on his chest and closed eyes.
The wolves around him observed the talk… and then proceeded to ignore them.
“Hey! I am offering all of you to join me!”
“You should talk to the Elder,” one of my wolves answered, “it is not like we want to move after what happened.”
The three outsiders huddled together and began to whisper to each other.
“Boss… weren’t they supposed to be desperate after what happened?” the scrawny one asked.
“Yeah, we went through all that trouble to get an Ether Stone to transport the egg without them noticing…”
“Shut up, you pair of idiots! Don’t let them hear you two!” the leader expined, “Maybe… they are in shock! We should go talk with the elder. I doubt the old one is still alive.”
“Right… They are denying reality! You are a genius, boss!”
“Okay, keep quiet! I will talk with the leader.”
They broke their whisper circle.
“Then, I will speak with the elders!” the leader said. “Bring them here!”
“... go look for the elder yourself” the wolf answered and left them alone. “We have more to worry about right now.”
“Ah…”
“Hey! Do you know who you are talking to?!” the scrawny one yelled, “he is going to be the next leader of the West Cn!”
“Yeah! You should show some respect!” the other grunt answered, “we are being nice here!”
“Alright, what is going on here?” one of the warrior wolves, who had just come back from hunting, approached, “if you are going to be causing trouble, I ask all of you to leave now or there will be consequences.”
“Consequences? I came in here, with all the intention of giving my helpful paw to all of you, and this is how you treat me?!” he turned to the warrior wolf, “I demand the leader of this Cn to come here, or I will have to teach all of you a lesson!”
“Who do you think you are for making demands?! You three better leave, now!”
The warrior began to growl, and his tail was straight, threatening the three wolves. The leader, in response, ughed, and sat.
“Aahh… then consequences it is! Boys, teach them a lesson.”
“Yes!” Both answered, and stepped forward while growling.
[Warning… [Soul Sense] depends on your focus. If you are concentrating in 1 thing, you won’t be able to see it]

When we arrived, with Fir following me, we came into a tragic scene. The attacking wolves managed to put down the few wolves that tried to stop them. My wolves were on the ground, forced by the attacks of the invaders.
“I demand the presence of the elder, or these wolves will be put down!”
I tried to yell as we arrived, but as always I keep forgetting these idiots cannot hear me.
“What is the meaning of this?! You three, expin yourselves!” Fir yelled, moving closer.
“Ah… you must be the elder,” the leader of the three approached, “finally your cn is smart enough to go look for you. You are new… I bet the old fart that led this pce died.”
“Excuse me?” Fir answered.
“Grrrr… fine, Master Alice…” Fir answered, sitting while still growling.
He was angry, I could tell. And so I was! They attacked our cn after they just survived an attack that was likely going to kill all of them! But I needed to try to act cool, even when I was about to swing at them.
“So, are you going to listen? I know your forces are barely capable of defending against us, imagine what will happen if the so-called king decides to attack! We at the West Cn are stronger, and we can protect all of you!”
“Miss Alice… I want to kill them…”
“Why are you insisting on helping us so much that you want to hurt our people?” Fir repeated my question.
I was going to get answers from these three mutts before taking any important action.
“What kind of question is that? Isn’t the important part of being a wolf of El helping others? We, at the West Cn, will give everyone a house. You won’t have to suffer again from monster attacks.” the leader sat, smiling with a smug smile that made my metaphorical blood boil. “Your cn showed such great generosity by letting us stay for a couple of days, so when we noticed you were attacked by those lizards, we wanted to do something to help you all in return. Isn’t good?’”
That fool sure did like to talk a lot.
But the worse part is these idiots were not subtle. With that it became obvious these idiots were the ones that pnted the egg. I shook for a moment, before I decided to do something else.
[Analysing… I agree. If these three wolves were the ones that came in before the attack, then the chances that they were the ones who pnted the egg are high. Interrogation might be needed]
I wish I could say something… by myself, but I had to rely on Fir for this one.
“You three… Elder Alice has decided you are not allowed to leave the Cn until you answer all of her questions!” Fir got up and got ready, lowering his body and baring his teeth, “you all made a big mistake coming here and pnting that egg!”
“W-what?”
“B-boss! They know about the egg!” the scrawny one said, in panic.
“Y-yeah! What shall we do now?!” his other goon continued.
“Silence, you two idiots!” the leader answered in anger, “listen here, you damn fool. If you attack us, we will inform the leader of the West Cn, and she will not hesitate to come here and take everyone by force if you hurt a messenger! So, you all better come with us, like it or not!”
Fir eyes widened. When the leader of the West Cn was named, I knew where this was going, and how he would react.
Was this the pn of that leader, Fir’s ex-wife?
I didn’t want this to be this fast, second day in charge and we were starting a cn war. I was thrown into this situation so suddenly, but I needed to act fast with what was happening.
Just the two goons, who didn’t look like much, managed to take down a few of my wolves. Was that a clue of how weak we were in comparison?
No matter, it would be worse if I didn’t respond.
Fir advanced, and the two goons answered by getting between him and their leader. Things were going to get ugly.
