  Anibeli's POV

A small shudder hit the ship, and someone called out. "Hit off after, captain. Shields at 68.06 and slowly rising." The Tech adept in the bridges engineering section stated.

Things had deteriorated rapidly since they had entered system. They had exited with little in the way of issues, and went on to the next transit point. Shortly on the second day, a lone cruiser intercepted them.

It was a full size cruiser, meaning Anibeli had decided discretion was the better part of valor, especially due to her cargo which she still wanted to breathe.

The cruiser had detected them, as the cobra, and it's subclass were about as stealthy as a brick to the head. It then fired its engines full blast, and charged at them.

She remembered her heart spiking in genuine dread, and she yelled for full ahead. A lance shot struck them off starboard, and she subsequently ordered evasive maneuvers.

The cruiser was to the starboard, above and well within lance range. Her gunning it was getting them clear well enough, and within 2 hours, they would be clear. Thank the emperor it was a Lunar and not a Gothic.

While Lance's weren't good at striping shields, it had capital grade lances, and she had one of the smallest ships in any emperor be damned navy. Things WEREN'T EQUAL.

She wanted to curse as a new call rang from Sensors. "Were picking up craft, looking like... Boarders, Cap'n!"

"Hmm. Mayhap I will have some fun afterall..." A voice whispered behind her. She almost jumped up, but did clench her hand around her pistol.

"Kiri, what, by the emperor's grace, are you doing here? Your supposed to be guard-" She began.

"Yes yes. I know. Guard the magos, we might have infiltrators." She waved her hand. "Bah. There are none, and I moved the priest forwards, closer to the bridge. He'll keep. Besides, I am a poor guard. More along the lines of a hunter, really. And if what your crew says is true... I will have targets aplenty."

Anibeli looked at her friend, then sighed. "Fine. You gather a squad and arm up. You'll get sent locations of boarders. Happy?" Anibeli asked.

"Terribly so, most honorable shipmistriss." Nezekiri stated, a hint of sarcasm and amusement in her tone.

Anibeli hit her with the back of her hand. "Get going, you cheeky git." She chucked.

Nezekiri bowed slightly in false submission. She straightened, and spoke flatly. "If your life is in risk, call, and I will arive. Hesitate not, lest regret you not feel." She then turned and walked away, not a sound emerging from her.

Anibeli turned back to a holo table, and smiled slightly. She felt better now, if only slightly, knowing that Nezekiri was at her side. If only proverbialy at the moment.
