Chapter 44

After breakfast, I had the staff set up the dining room to act as our classroom. Ten sets of papers, pen, and ink were set up. A drawing for each spell, Minor Healing, Close Wounds, and Minor Life Regenerate, were placed added. Descriptions of the capabilities of each spell were also added. Everything was set up and ready to go. The only thing I was waiting on was my student mages.

I expected the mages to arrive around 9. The first four came in a pack at 8:30. They were from the Adventurers Guild. Each was a support type mage. They had buff spells and other utility spells. Each had one or two offensive spells, usually Mana Blade or Fireball, but they were weak. Their value came in helping their group survive the fights. They all had the standard strength buff, health buff, and stamina buff spells, but also had unique spells.

Shemona had an Earthen Wall spell that allowed her to build walls up to 5 feet tall, 2 feet wide, and 10 feet long. A couple of casts and you had a defensive wall all around you. Perfect for camp sites in the wilds or blocking off a tunnel in a dungeon. She could even cast it while in combat.

Silent had a Reflect buff, that stopped a direct physical hit on the target and reflected the damage back. When the boss monster was getting ready to do their special ability, he would cast it on the tank. The tank cast taunt, and the boss hit him. The damage reflected back usually ended the fight. The spell only worked once per cast, but properly applied, it was a game changer for his team. Silent was a silent caster, like me. He did not use words to cast his spells. However, he did talk nonstop when not casting. So, his name was kind of a misnomer.

Kan had a Switch Places spell. She should swap two bodies. She did not have to be one of the bodies. On of her team’s tactics was to form a circle, put one member in the middle, then switch that member with a lone monster. There was a bit of disorientation when the second target of the spell was switched. This allowed everyone to attack before the monster recovered, ending with the monster being dead. Once when fighting a troll, the tank had lured the troll near a cliff, then jumped off. Kan used the Switch Places spell, and the troll fell to its death.

Audriel was a half elf who had a My Friend spell. This spell would target an individual monster/animal. The target would be under the control of Audriel. Audriel could then have the target attack other monsters, run away, or even let him ride it. In a fight, Audriel would target one monster, then have them attack other monsters, if the target died, then he would cast again until all monsters were killed. He could only cast on one target, and the spell was basically useless against boss monsters or alpha animals.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

As a magic researcher, I want to sit each one down and thoroughly investigate each spell. But we were not here for that. We were here for them to learn the healing spells. Maybe I would be able to talk with them later about it.

By 9 am, two more mages had shown up, Malika and Ponfikle. They had arrived separately and were also from the Adventurers Guild. These two were damage dealers. They knew a lot of offensive spells but were reluctant to discuss them. I did get they had the basic offensive spells like me, Mana Dart, Fireball, and Wind Blade.

Ponfikle did slip and let me know that he had the spell Weapon Free, which created a spell sword that would fight on its own. Because its damage wasn’t high, he used it to defend himself when fighting higher level foes. When there were many low-level mobs, he would let the sword fight offensively alongside his team. It was like adding a low-level fighter to his team, without having to share the loot.

At 9 am and with those present, we went into the dining room. Each sat at the table and was ready to start, when there was a loud knock at the door.

Gabriel came in a few seconds later and requested I come into the foyer to talk to some uninvited guests. I left with Gabriel and went to the foyer. There I saw two Healers from the Healers Guild, waiting impatiently. I could see why Gabriel wanted me here.

“Trevor, we have come to learn the healing spells.” The obviously senior healer announced as if it was their right to learn the spells. “You will dismiss the others and only teach us the spells. We are the Healers Guild, and it is our right to keep this knowledge.” He then tried to get past Gabriel and head into the dining room. Gabriel blocked his path, and the healer started to get angry. “Get off of my way servant.”

“Stop!” I said in a raised voice. I looked Senior Asshat in his eyes and continued “You have no rights here. Your Grandmaster has tried to have me killed several times and I owe your guild nothing. I would not teach you how to put out a fire, much less MY healing spells.” I paused and silently cast Identification on them.

  Name: Kesmir    Name: Till

  Race: Human    Race: Human

  Class: Barber     Class: Doctor

  Level: 10       Level: 10

I waited a few second for Senior Asshat aka Kesmir to respond. He was so astonished, and his mouth would open and shut, but no words came out.

“Gabriel, please see these gentlemen out.” I spoke. I waited as Gabriel escorted the two intruders out. “Thank you, Gabriel. Let me know if we have other intruders. I will be in the dining room.”
