She adjusted her cloak and made her way down the familiar path.
By the time she reached the Adventurer’s Guild, the lobby was already buzzing.
- Clinking armor
- Requests being posted
- Parties negotiating pay
- Clerks stamping forms faster than the eye could track
Eis approached the same receptionist from yesterday — a woman who smiled warmly the moment she recognized her.
“Eis! Good morning. How did Lumaire treat you yesterday?”
“Quiet,” Eis said with a polite bow. “I spent much of it in the Archive.”
“Oh dear. So you did drown in books.”
The receptionist grinned.
“Not a bad way to go.”
Eis allowed herself a faint smile.
“I actually came to mention something. Team Argent invited me to join their escort job next week.”
The receptionist blinked once—
then twice—
then swallowed hard.
“O–of course they did.”
Her tone held a note of admiration… and maybe mild envy.
The receptionist composed herself quickly and glanced through the job ledger.
“Yes, I see it here. They’ve already added your name as a provisional party member.”
Then her expression shifted — still warm, but now professional.
“But since the job is a week away, the guild is requesting you complete at least one mission on your own first.”
Eis straightened.
“Of course. That makes sense.”
“It’s nothing against you,” the receptionist assured. “It’s just policy. When a Copper adventurer joins a Silver team as a temporary member, we like to confirm their capabilities.”

“I don’t mind,” Eis said. “What missions are available?”
The receptionist’s eyes brightened — she appreciated how cooperative Eis was — and she pulled out a neatly organized sheet from the copper-and-bronze ledger.
“These are the current missions you can take solo.”
She slid the list forward.
Eis scanned it.
- Gather 10 bundles of Dawnleaf herbs
- Deliver a package to the Artisan Quarter
- Report sightings of stray wolves near the East Farms
- Clear nuisance slimes from irrigation canals
- Eliminate a small pack of wolves near Riverside Trail
- Clear out a lone goblin scout group spotted near Old Mill Road
- Escort a farmer’s wagon to the outer fields (minimal threats expected)
- Investigate strange noises in a barn outside the city
The receptionist tapped the Bronze section.
“These are a little stronger than what new adventurers usually start with, but since you’re joining Team Argent next week…”
She leaned in.
“Choosing a Bronze job wouldn’t be unreasonable. It’ll show the guild you can handle yourself.”
Eis studied the options carefully.
The wolf pack.
The goblin scout group.
Both were straightforward. Both were combat-focused. Both were well within her comfort zone.
But she didn’t choose yet.
She looked up.
“Any recommendations?”
The receptionist nodded immediately.
“If you’re confident, go with wolves. Goblins can be unpredictable — sometimes you get a scout group, sometimes you get an entire camp.”
Eis understood.
Then without hesitation she pointed to the line.
Eliminate the small pack of wolves near Riverside Trail.
“I’ll take this one,” Eis said.
The receptionist stamped the request form with a crisp thunk.
“Very well. Bronze-tier mission accepted.”
She handed Eis the stamped form.
“Bring back the report and any proof of completion. Once that’s done, we can finalize your provisional slot with Team Argent.”
Eis bowed slightly.
“I’ll return soon.”
The receptionist smiled — something like trust forming already.
“I don’t doubt it.”
Eis headed towards a section of the guild hall where the wall was lined with books. A window above the book cases allowed some morning golden light to flood into the room.
She grabbed a book and studied her mission’s target. The chance was small – but preparation was everything in a mission. She grabbed a book detailing the looks and habits of goblins.
