Gigopolis is the second oldest of Tergai's three supercities, having been constructed over the course of nearly a century. It was built around the ruins of an ancient Anteschismatic supercity called [REDACTED]. Early construction used the cantorium lattice in the ruins for support. Modern cantorium refining techniques allowed the city to spread outward and southward all the way to the coast.
The legislature (City Council) is bicameral. The upper house, the Level Council, assigns five representatives to each level. The lower house, the Civic Assembly, is population-based, with districts ranging from 4–12 adjacent cells on a single level. In total, the Level Council has 50 members, while the Civic Assembly currently seats 421. Several uninhabitable cells, such as those in [REDACTED] and [REDACTED], are currently not considered part of any district. The High Municipal Court has 11 members.
Count: 900 (30x30 grid)
Dimensions: 400m x 400m (0.25mi x 0.25mi) – height variable
Quad Dimensions: 1km x 1km (0.62mi x 0.62mi)
Spacing ("Abyss"): 200m
The city’s superskyscraper system is state-of-the-art, with most cells and quads having self-contained water and sewer systems and recycling centers. Each square building has a support pillar at each corner, with major platforms at each level and, typically, at least two sublevels. These are connected by an intricate series of bridges and ramps. Individual cells are typically zoned as “urban” with 2-5 sublevels, leaving clearance for multi-story standard buildings. Others are suburban, stacking as high as 10 sublevels.
The superskyscrapers range in height from 200 meters (Level 1) to 2 kilometers (Level 10). The ziggurat tapers by two rows and columns each level, leaving an outer “ring” of cells exposed to the sky. On the top level, further construction of standard skyscrapers and towers are not limited. With the Spire stretching nearly a kilometer in and of itself, the true pinnacle of the city sits at almost 3 kilometers (~1.8 miles).
