Saturday October 7th, 2018.
Helo now understands why there are so many upper classmen in the stands watching. They turn the whole thing into entertainment. Just as he thinks that he gets a mental nudge from his stored away tablet. He still doesn’t understand how his tablet, that is in a dimensional storage, can contact him.
Leaving his tablet in his necklace, he leans over and looks at Hinata’s tablet that she just pulled out. “It looks like the battles are also streamed to all the Bar’s in Hornhiem and available to purchase on personal devices.” Hinata says before storing her tablet away.
“Ohh! Really!” Alli smiles happily. “Then after out turn is over, we can go back to the mansion and watch. Oh! I have a great idea!” She claps her hands and looks at Hinata like a child asking her parents for something. “Can we invite our other friends over to watch?”
Hinata just rolls her eyes. “Do what you want.”
Once the girls start talking about what kinds of food they want to prepare, Helo goes back to watching the fights. It has only been a few minutes, and he can see that three of the parties are already having some trouble.
Ryan’s bored and monotone voice spreads out through hidden speakers. “The first fight is a level 10 foe. Each successive battle increases the level of your foe by up to five levels. It looks like after four battles three of the competitors are starting to struggle.”
Helo is a little disappointed. That means they are starting to struggle as a group of six, facing off against a level 30 foe. But it is entertaining to watch all the different skills in action. Even if most common skills are extremely similar. Just as one of the students takes enough damage to be in critical condition, he suddenly vanishes.
“There we have it. Party Bright Fighter’s is the first to lose a teammate. For all you newbies watching don’t worry about it, he was directly sent to a healer. They have a ton of potions stocked up.” Ryan’s monotone voice calls out like he is reading from a script.
Anton had no idea what he was getting into when he agreed to join their party. He was minding his own business after class. It took a while to get out of history because one of the most famous first years is obviously in over his head.
He isn’t sure if anyone else can see it, but he can. Helo radiates an aura of danger. But at the same time, he acts totally confused. He even heard a rumor about Helo paying for a meal using an enchantment.
Anyway, Helo obviously has no idea about the unspoken rules. He on the other hand has had them pounded into his head every single day. If it isn’t his parents, then it was the bullies at school.
So, one day after having to wait for Helo to leave the class, he ended up walking later than expected, and there he saw a group of beautiful women. They weren’t Hinata Kashiwagi pretty, but close to her maid Aiko.
Then they noticed him looking. From there it was a whirlwind of agreements and confusion. Then suddenly he was in their party. Just him and five beautiful women. For some reason when he finally came back to his sense and realized what he had done, he let the dream of any man spark to life. This party was totally going to become his Harem.
That dream was quickly curb stomped, taken out back, shot in the head, and discarded with all his other dreams.
Instead, he is constantly running all over the place. “Anton! I forgot my purse.” “Anton! Can you please go buy this for me.” “Anton! Who said you could stand so close to me.”
Now he is here. “Agghh! Fuck!” He shouts when a large rat of some kind almost bites off his arm. “Kill IT!” He shouts while doing his best to avoid being infected by that thing’s jaws. He knows about the ‘Healing’ the school gives out.
After he came back from his first ‘Field Trip’ he got a potion to stabilize himself, then they said “Well with your injuries, if you want to be fully healed it will be ten student credits.” At that point he had no idea what student credits even were. Turns out you earn them when you go into dungeons and kill monsters, win duels, or do well in anything school related.
He bets that people like the famous Helo already have a thousand credits. Or he is already so rich with all his ‘enchantments’ that he has no idea the credit system even exists. Who needs free money and help when you’re so rich you don’t even know.
But he had no other choice but to accept. Turns out he only gained twelve points. Now he is here. “Help me!” He shouts just as the rat gets its teeth around his blade. Anton stares in shock hoping that his blade is okay.
A moment later and a basic ‘Fire Ball’ erupts on the rats’ back. The skill barely does anything. But it does draw the rat’s attention from himself. Turning the rat looks at the girl with a menacing glare.
“Ewwwwwwwww! Anton! Distract it!” She yells before turning around and running.
Anton considers letting her get eaten. But before he can fully accept that idea. He remembers the dream that he killed and buried. If I save her… then maybe… Harem. Then he is running forward and slashing with his crocked sword.
Adan scoffed as he kicked away the corpse of the last monster. “This is just a waste of time.” He says while glaring at the Spacecallers. “Just bring me to the tier 2 monsters already.”
The Spacecaller doesn’t answer Adan’s command. This only infuriates the second heir of the Lopez family. For his family anger is always quick to come and hard to leave. Stepping forward a growl rumbles in the back of his throat. The Spacecaller just looks at the little werewolf with a blank stare.
“Are you ignoring me.” He growls out. He steps closer but a voice stops him.
“If you attack one of my subordinates, I will be in my right to leave you here and you will be disqualified.” This is the strongest of the Spacecallers in this group. Each group is led by a tier 3.
Adan Lopez isn’t one to listen to others. But the overwhelming aura that washed out along with the Spacecallers words was enough for him to pause and force his anger down. Then he just glares, waiting for the next teleport. It is the curse of their family line. Really any were-creature has this curse. They were made by liches trying to copy the strengths of the beast-kin community.
Instead, they made a race of monstrous people that changed shape while angered. One of the only ways for a young and immature were-creature to burn off their anger is through carnage or getting beaten into submission. His father is the oldest and wisest of his people. He is able to meditate and calm his emotions. But this is a skill their people gain only with time.
A flash of colors and they are in front of another creature. Adan isn’t here alone. He has the rest of his party. They were just instructed to stay away. He is Adan Lopez; he doesn’t need help to fight weaklings.
The next few monsters are torn apart with ease. But as the strengths of the monsters grow stronger, Adan is left with more wounds after each battle. That only fuels Adan’s strength further. By the time they are into the tier 2 monsters, Adan is dripping with blood.
Smiling a vicious bloody smile. His jaw starts to elongate, and his teeth turn into razor points. He isn’t capable of taking on a full Were-wolf form. That comes with tier 2 and time spent strengthening your bloodline. But he can take on a partial shift. Turning his hands and feet into claws, while sharpening his teeth into something usable.
Using his claws and fangs, Adan tears into the first tier 2 monster with glee. This is what he has been waiting for. He loves this feeling. Taking on his were-wolf form makes him feel powerful. But at the same time, he doesn’t have the strength to maintain control.
But in the heat of battle. When his flesh is torn and the smell of blood is fulling the air. He can feel a sense of clarity. The pain brings him back, not fully in control, but to the point where he can not only remember his actions but also guide them.
“Hahahah! Another!” He shouts. Turning he looks at the Spacecaller with a malevolent glare.
The monster was some kind of Chimera and its body lies in a bloody heap behind him. He did more than kill it, he mutilated it, then once it was dead, he mutilated it some more. Then after he was done, he took a few bites.
The lead Spacecaller wants to look at the second heir to the Lopez Crime Family with disgust, but he is far too mature to let emotions slip like that. Surging his magic, he finds the next monster in only a moment. Then they are gone.
After two more fights Adan can barely move after the fight. He pushed his skill as far as it could go. Reaching all the way to a level 60 monster and killing it alone. For some of the other noble families, they will have trouble to reach this far with their full party. Just has he is about to lose consciousness he hears a “Bing”.
Your skill Damage Enhancement (Uncommon) has evolved into Blood for Blood: Werewolf Enhancement. (Rare)
Blood for Blood: Werewolf Enhancement. (Rare): A legacy skill of the Lopez Family. Passed down from the Werewolf Progenitor a million years ago, this skill has taken many new forms over the years.
Each wound you take enhances your physical stats, and greatly enhances regeneration. The amount of boosts is based on the amount of damage. The more you are enhanced the more you lose yourself to your Werewolf nature.
Each would you give out lets you burn off your growing anger and take back control of yourself.
Adan coughs up blood. His party looks down on him with a few emotions, hatred, fear, and worry. But they all flinch as his bloody mouth curve into a smile. “Grh. Finally.” He says after spitting out the blood.
With his upgraded skill his body starts to slowly knit itself back together. The Spacecaller is about to call it, and bring them back. But Adan staggers to his feet. He spits out a wad of blood and says “Again.”
For the next fight he finally allows his party to get involved. But they are only allowed to assist. In the end he fights two more monsters before it is too much, and he is forcefully teleported back to the healers.
All around the stadium people are murmuring and staring. “He reached level 70. That is more than most second years.”
“Ha! That is better than most third years. The only people that can do better are the other nobles. That is probably where most of the second year nobles will stop.” A man a few rows a head says loudly.
Everyone wants to argue, but he is probably right. “Camilla and Dino from Italy can do better than that.” Someone else argues.
“Yeah! And Layla got that far last year as well.” Another person argues.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
The man that yelled just glares around. “I’m talking about average nobles and students. Not the other elite.”
“Don’t let them hear you talking like that.” Another person shouts before everyone bursts into laughter. The older students in the stands have been having a great time watching everyone struggle. There are people selling food and drinks. There is a bookie at the top of the bleachers taking bets.
On the stadium floor Rohan watches the screen with trepidation. He knows that there is absolutely zero chance he will make it as far as the Lopez heir made it. But he has no interest in making it that far. What he is hoping for is the chance to draw attention. Maybe find a sponsor or enter someone’s service.
His parents used to disapprove of all the training he used to do. Saying that it was a waste of time. He is a commoner, and even worse poor. He will just get a Common Warrior Class and end up as cannon fodder in a war or on a wall.
But when he finally got the chance to choose his class, they were all surprised. He had a single Uncommon Class to choose from. As soon as he chose the class, his parents moved into a smaller apartment and started saving money. After years of work and emptying their savings. They had the money to send their son to the best school for Awakened in the world.
Now standing on the stage, about to enter into his first challenge. Rohan is starting to feel excited. As soon as the teachers started saying that they needed to at least have five members. He quickly found five others and formed a full party. From there he has spent every waking moment training and preparing. Now, this is his chance.
Before taking his last step onto the platform Rohan takes on last look at his status.
Name: Rohan
Bloodline: Wind Eagle (Common)
Tier 1
Class: Sword Caller (Uncommon)
Level: 34
Stats: 274
Skill: Swordsmanship, Call Sword, Control Sword.
Nodding to himself Rohan steps onto the platform. He is proud of his bloodline. It is common in India, and his father said it comes from the powerful Garuda. Then he walks up to a group of Spacecallers. He looks at them with interest. His class has the same ‘Caller’ moniker, and he has been trying to find out what that means. But before he can even think about asking there is a flash and then he is somewhere else.
Behind him he can hear his party as the murmur to one another. “Focus up. If we do good, we could get extra resources or maybe a job.”
“Yeah right…” One of his teammate’s mutters. But he ignores them. They all have common classes and no bloodlines. He isn’t surprised that they think like that.
Drawing the blade from his hip he says. “I’ll take care of the first few. Just be ready when the monsters get stronger.
A few minutes later and he is panting as the level 45 Moose bears down on him. Diving to the side. He hits the ground with a grunt and rolls away. He isnt fast for a sword wielder. But that isn’t the true purpose of his class. “Summon Sword.” He speaks. Holding out both hands two swords appear in the air. “Control Sword.” He catches them as they fall.
This is a technique he has worked hard to master. Summoning two and once, and controlling both. “GO!” He shouts and both swords fly forward. Just as the moose is turning the swords stab into its sides. Then summoning another blade, he catches it in his hand and charges forward.
In the end he was able to kill the moose. But his entire party was already teleported away and he drained almost all his mana. Looking at the Spacecaller he says. “I am ready to go now.”
Just before they teleport the tier 3 Spacecaller steps forward. “Your class. It is a Caller class correct.”
Rohan doesn’t hesitate for a moment. “Yes!” He says with excitement. “I wanted to ask you all about it but I wasn’t sure how.” He bows low to the Spacecallers.
“Mhm good. Being a Caller is more than what you have been doing. But for your level and teaching, you are doing well.” Stepping closer he pulls a series of papers from nowhere and hands them to Rohan.
Looking at the papers, he smiles happily. He looks up and is about to open his mouth to ask to be an apprentice, but the tier 3’s hand is already up. “I know what you want, but I can’t accept. The difference between Space and Sword is vital and will change much.” He points down. “Those pages have what it takes to be a Caller. You need to find someone to help with the Sword part of your class.”
Rohan bows again. “Thank you Senior.”
“Mhm. Let’s go.” The Senior says.
“See anyone interesting?” Hinata asks Helo from their spot in the stands.
“What do you mean?” He asks her. He did find some interesting people, but he feels like there is more to what she said.
“Putting on this entire spectacle isn’t just about school and grades.” Hinata says. She is leaving on Helo now and holding his arm. “It is about showing off. For nobles it is about being better, for the others it is about finding sponsors, trainers, and maybe jobs.”
“So your asking if there is anyone that I think would be a good hire?” Helo asks.
“Yes.” Hinata nods and starts to list off a few people that she thought were interesting. “I am just not sure if they are interesting enough for me to approach them.”
“Mhm.” Helo stares at the screens blankly. “Nobody really.”
“Hahhhh. I guess it was too much to ask you with your skewed sense of power and wealth.” Hinata sighs dramatically. She is acting flirty with Helo, and it is a surprise to those around her. Everyone knows her as serious and proper. They might expect this from Alli, but they would also expect her to play pranks.
“Wealth and power.” Helo mumbers… “That sword guy.” He nods to himself.
“Sword guy. Helo-Kun. You’re going to have to do better than that.” She says playfully. She really only ever uses Japanese suffixes when she is serious or playful.
“The one who summoned all those swords.” Helo responds.
“I see… Why exactly? His fighting wasn’t all that impressive.” Hinata says.
“Yeah. But depending on how his skills work. With my enchanting and Rurgrim’s forging. We could equipe him with a lot of interesting weapons.” Helo says. He is looking away and Hinata knows that he is already lost in thought.
But at the same time, she smiles. Under her breath she says. “That was really smart thinking Helo.” Turning to Aiko she says. “Go find that Sword Summoner. Give him an invitation to meet us tomorrow morning.” Aiko is about to leave but Hinata calls out. “Wait. Invite him to come to our watch party tomorrow morning.”
With a quick nod Aiko leaves. She already knows why Hinata is interested in the man, and she agrees that Helo had a good idea. He might not end up extremely powerful. But at the same time, he could become incredibly versatile. Plus, with the right material and enchantments, he could easily summon a powerful weapon that is a one-time attack.
In the infirmary underneath the stadium Rohan is just waking up. “Ahhhhh.” He groans while blinking his eyes. Looking around he finds himself in a chair. Why am I in a custodial closet? He thinks to himself.
Trying to whip his hair from his face he pulls up, but his hands don’t move. “Huh?” Looking down he is tied to a chair. “Okay…” He starts to talk to himself. “What do you last remember. I was sitting in the infirmary. Huh?” He looks around and stocked shelves of medical equipment.
“I am still in the infirmary. I came to visit my teammates.” He says. Then he can hear the thudding of steps behind him. Turning his head he finds a woman walking into view. She is average height, but her figure is anything but average. She has dark hair and eyes with obvious Asian characteristics. On her body she is wearing a classical maid outfit, if not designed to be as cute as possible. Her legs are covered in black stockings, and her shoes have heeled combat boots.
As he stares at this beautiful woman that kidnapped him his throat goes dry. He isn’t sure if it is from fear or a little bit of nervous excitement. “Ah… Ahem.” He clears his throat. “Who are you?”
“I’m Aiko.” Comes a cheerful voice.
“Ah… Hello Aiko. Why am I hear? No. Wait. Where are we?” He asks.
Aiko tilts her head cutely. “We are in the storage closet outside your teammates room.”
“Oh… Ah… Why?” He asks. Suddenly he is really confused. She is being too nice for this to be some kind of weird murder kink.
Aiko just shrugs cutely. She wraps one hand under her bust and taps her chin with the other. “I was bored I guess.”
Rohan’s mouth drops and his face blanches. “Ah. Okay…”
Finding a stool Aiko sits in front of him. Then she just waits to see what he will ask next. She isn’t going to be honest and say that she has been having some weird dreams ever since Helo held her against the wall of his bathroom. She was trying to find out if it went both ways. Her decision ‘Ehh’.
“Do you do this often?” He asks.
“Nope.” Her responds.
“Is there a reason you knocked me out and took me here?” He asks.
“Yep.” She responds again.
“Can you tell me why?”
“Yep.”
“Will you tell me?”
“Yep.”
“Hahhhh.” He sighs and drops his head. He wants to palm his face. Only… he is still tied up. “Tell me please?” He asks, hoping that was what she was looking for.
“Sure. Hinata was interested in your magic and wanted to extend an invitation for you to visit the mansion tomorrow morning. We are having a get together to watch the older student do the challenge tomorrow.” Aiko says. Then she casually opens the door and leaves. “Thud. Click.”
Rohan looks around but he can’t twist enough to see the door. “She left me…” While sitting there he starts to wonder who Hinata is, and why she has such a weird maid.
Almost fifteen minutes later a flushed nurse enters the room. “I am so sorry!” She apologizes as she cuts him loose. “It isn’t often when the maid of one of the Heirs to a major clan knocks someone out and asks for a chair.” The maid looks extremely embarrassed. “I had no idea what to do. Are you okay?”
Rohan isn’t sure how to respond to that. It seems like this nurse saw his kidnapping. But she let it happen due to who Aiko is. I always thought it was weird that as soon as I got my class my parents sold the house and moved into an apartment. They always told me it was to save money, but maybe…
“Yeah. I am fine. She just wanted to invite me to visit their mansion.” Rohan says while lost in thought. “Wait. Did you say major house? Like Hinata Kashiwagi?”
Isla isn’t sure how to feel about Adan’s challenge. She was honestly expecting to easily take first place. But beating a level 70 monster. That will be tough. She has been praised and worshipped for everything she does almost all her life. She excelled at all things school and was even great at fighting.
But what she was the best at was always reading people. So, when her Enchantress class unlocked, she was ecstatic. It is a commander type class, with a Charm effect. The Charm isn’t as much about getting her way, as it is about buffing those that feel positive toward her.
After seeing Adan and Maria enter the challenge and come out with impressive scores, she is feeling a little pressured. This isn’t normal for her, usually she is the person doing the pressuring.
Before she steps onto the stadium floor she stops in the tunnel and turns to one of her party members. He is her age and someone that her father found. He has impressive talents and a rare bloodline. Most of her teammates are from loyal houses to her own. But two of them are rare finds.
Looking up to the stands to where she knows the Twin Heiresses are she sighs longingly. She just wishes that her father found Helo before those girls got their claws into him. She isn’t racist or anything. But those girls are practically animals.
Turning back to the man she asks. “How do I look?” While brushing down her hair and making sure her robe is perfect. It isn’t as much a robe as it is a form fitting dress. But it looks good and has a defensive shield.
The man doesn’t even have to answer and she knows what he will say. “You look amazing. Beautiful. There is nobody at the school who is more beautiful than you.”
She wants to sigh. This is a game they have played so many times. She is just bored of it. Instead, she plays along. The more infatuated he is, the stronger his buff will be. Plus, it also makes it harder for him to resist her commands. “Just the school?”
“No! The world!” He says happily.
“That works.” She says. She wants to cry. There is no more fun in it, he is so easy to control now. All she had to do was casually flirt a few times and then bam, he was all over her. The hard part was making sure that he accepted that he could look but not touch.
Turning away she walks into the field and onto the stone platform. She hasn’t revealed her entire party yet. But she is sure that her second rare find will make some waves.
“And here is going to be a great show for you all. The young miss of the Williams Family in Australia. She is a powerful buff mage with a strong group of fighters with her.” Ryan is still speaking in the most boring tone that he can manage. But he is still making sure to introduce important people and point out interesting fights.
Ignoring the bored assistant, Isla walks toward and group of Spacecallers and her entire party vanishes.
“No way…” Alli mutters.
“Why?” Hinata says.
“The FUCK!” Gabi yells. Her shout draws everyone’s attention around them.
“Huh…” Helo sighs and doesn’t really react. He has already told Alli and Hinata about her true personality. If anything, he thinks it is a great fit.
“Why is Kenneth in her party?” Alli turns to her team. Not all of them were around for Kenneth’s stay in the party. But they all have definitely heard about him.
“That is Kenneth?” Arisah says. She leans forward to study him. “Hmh. Yes, I can see what you all said about him. Just the look on his face makes me want to castrate him.”
All the men around her clench their legs at her words. The party understood why she said that. But everyone that was listening in, looks at her with some fear.
Hinata shakes her head sadly. “I wanted to hope that Isla was redeemable.”
“Yeah. But this…” Alli stares at the screen with unbridled rage.
Hinata reaches across Helo and pats Alli on the leg. “It isn’t a big deal. We will just kick their asses if we are ever in a challenge or tournament against them. Honestly, I expected him to end up with Dino or Camilla. He is older than we are and he is related to them in distantly.”
Isla is shivering internally at the thought of confusion and betrayal on Alli and Hinata’s faces. She is honestly excited to try and mend their relationship after this. So many strings to pull and ideas. Out of all the games she has played and men she has messed with Kenneth was by far the easiest and most annoying.
It only took a crossing of her arms to accentuate her breasts for Kenneth to be hooked. Her Charm magic did the rest to guarantee that he wasn’t interested in anyone else. Out of the five members of her party, he was the hardest to tie down though.
But when she heard about one of the most talented tanks of their generation leaving the Brightmoon clan. It was just too tempting. She heard about his desires and knew that her class would eat him up.
The issue she is having with him is two fold. First, his mentality is two gross. He thinks he is gods gift to women. So, she has been having trouble keeping him from touching her. The second is connected. If he starts to pursue another woman, her charm will break. He is hard to keep content without letting him actually have her. Truthfully, she isn’t sure how long she can keep up trying to lead him on while not putting out.
“Kenneth.” She smiles sweetly at him. “Can you take care of the first beasts for us.”
Kenneth winks and flexes his arms. He says something but Isla is already ignoring him. It probably had to do with getting a reward or her being on her knees.
“How long are you going to put up with him.” Her best friend says in disgust. In public she treats her headguard like she is expected to. But in private they are very close.
“Hahhh. It is getting more difficult every day.” She looks at Kenneth’s back with disgust. For a second she thinks about just letting him. He is experienced, and attractive. It would probably be great. But then she shivers. “Ugh. I don’t know.”
