Sept 16

  Dear Dad,

We started today off a little differently than most days. Lilandra woke us up at dawn for prayer and then insisted that we go jogging. Luckily, I have an excuse not to by writing to you! I convinced her I couldn’t pray her way because I prayed through writing, so I’m still here while everyone else had to go jogging first. The others tried to convince her the same, but she knew better. She said she believed me because I at least had the “tools of prayer” with me, while none of them had anything similar.

  So haha! I win!

I get the feeling that I’ll probably regret it later, though. The others are probably going to make me jog or something worse. Though I can almost hear you now saying jogging’s really not that bad and that it’s good for the body and all that, but I got to sleep a little longer, and I’m not getting sweaty when the sun’s barely up. We’re probably going to head out after the others get back. We usually do that anyway, and the weather is once again beautiful. We’ve managed to keep ourselves here a bit too long always. Fortunately, we’ve been going pretty far here. Everything’s pretty flat, nothing too heavily forested, and we can fly from one place to another in good time.

Lilandra said that after prayer, she’d make us a map of the area so we could sleep at other people’s houses instead of in the wilderness because even though it was much safer here, it didn’t mean it was safe.

Which is a little ominous, and now I don’t wish I was alone as much. Granted, getting a bit of a relatively safe long time is great! And I’d love to enjoy it more, but I’m also in a stranger’s house and don’t know when the others will be back, so there’s not much I can do.

I’ll try to write to you this evening, and at worst, I’ll write to you again tomorrow.

  Love, Jack.
