Well that could have gone better, all things considered though it is probably the best way it could have possibly gone. The rage the suit of armor was feeling was certainly something that I wanted to abate later, but for now it was something to live with. I could hear the whispers of the king laughing slightly at the armor as it gave into the situation for the time being. Now I had to figure out what to do with him, since he was just kind of sitting in the experimentation room with nothing dedicated to him. Though an idea came to mind, since I intended him to be the most physical phantom I intend to make for this next plan and I could just feel that there was enough room in my slowly expanding boarders to make something interesting.
I turned my focus and found I had expanded to about a 10th of the fores surrounding me and I could sense a small glade not far off from my boarders. I didn’t quite have the supplies for the big idea I have in mind but I could get some groundwork going. So I order the prince there, and he begrudgingly follows the order. It will take him a couple minutes to make it there so I turn my attention to the plan I have for this expansion. I look around the area where my graveyard stands and I think that it might look better as the graveyard attached to a ruined castle. So the first thing I begin putting together is a foundation for said castle.
It is actually really easy to make a solid foundation when you can just reach into the stone and make it a good foundation. From what I could tell about the King I have been speaking to his holdings weren’t the biggest but I still think it would be a good idea to get things together in a way that he would appreciate. And besides the little quest line I intend to weave into this whole thing would mean that he would need a bit of convincing. So a solidly sized castle would do wonders to convince him to work with me, though again I intend it to be in a bit of ruin. So to start with I think outside the foundation is to begin getting a floor plan in place. With the assumption that the graveyard is going to be “behind” the castle I have to functionally build backwards.
I go over a list in my head of what I want out of this castle and the main things it comes to is a throne, a grand hall, and a garrison. But of course I need to build it like it was functional at some point so adding in some bedchambers and other amenities is a must. Between this and the graveyard it seemed my general vibe was going to be lost town reclaimed by the forest. I really like that idea actually, gives me more room to be a bit interesting with monster and design elements. The main thing I wanna find out if I continue that way is how to get a ghost to posses a tree and make it shift or even move for me. One thing at a time though, and this castle isn’t going to build and ruin itself, well maybe it might if I have the elemental work on it.
Well it’s probably best I do it by hand anyway so that everything is how I want it and I can easily shift things around once the king is willing to help me out. So back to the building part of things, and the flooring is already pretty much set down. Going from the great hall, which I intend to be an entrance. The hall is about 100ft long by about 20ft wide, already it is taking up a ton of space, as it is supposed to. I plan for it to also account as a banquet hall so off the back right I place a door to what will eventually be the kitchen. After the great hall is a large double door that leads into the central hall of the castle where everything will branch off. Sketching things out in my mind I think that I want it to have about a 400ft squared floor with a ceiling about 2 stories high allowing for a second floor. Adding in the classic split stairways to the left and right leading to the second story, I intend for that to be most of the rooms in the building. Looking at the plan in my head I nod to myself and begin putting the first few stones in place, shaping the dirt and hardening it from soil to actual cobble and granite. Something solid that can be worked later into a proper set of flagstones.

Getting the general design of the great hall and the central hall put together I look at it and I can’t help but smile. It feels like it took only a few minutes but looking up at the sky it is clear a few hours have passed and I feel a distinct hint of annoyance from my newest monster. So I draw my attention to where he is standing in the middle of a clearing. There are markings on the surrounding trees where he has struck them, likely out of anger, and I can’t help but be impressed all things considered.
“what do you want now jailer?” he says through our mental touch, and I look at him, he clearly isn’t happy. I guess that is the point but I do kind of feel bad all things considered since I personally have no grief with him.
“I intend to make this spot your camp,” The plan I had involved the four heirs fighting each other so each needed there own home base. Considering this prince was a suit of living armor now and definitely of a marshal persuasion, I thought a war camp would be best.
He looks around for a bit at the nothing that is here and I can feel his anger growing. “So you intend to taunt me jailer?”
“no no, I just…..don’t have everything I need on hand to make it right,” There isn’t really a point in lying that fact. I have intentions but no means to see them through. Maybe trading with adventurers would make things easier, I haven’t really gotten anything for resources. Maybe that will be next level?
There is a defeated sigh as the armor sits down and I can feel the anger remain but it is more subdued, defeated. Frankly I feel kind of bad for the guy but there isn’t much I can do for him aside from reassure him and work on getting his little area sorted.
With that all settled I turn my attention back towards the castle when all of my creatures suddenly stiffen. Even the anger from the Prince subsides entirely to surprise and then fear as a force, almost primordial, washes over the dungeon.
I look around in a panic my instincts screaming for defense but also just as loudly to submit to whatever is coming. And that’s when I see it.
That’s when I learned dragon’s where real.
