Veronique and Rhea’s Temporary Shared Room
After waking up from another one of those nightmares, thanks to Bos licking on her face, Veronique had stayed awake staring at the ceiling.
She felt too out of it to fall asleep again, even with Bos sprawled on her chest as a calming presence.
Something told her it was that mysterious purple haired woman’s fault if she was having those disturbing dreams.
‘Yet I didn’t see her the first time’ she pointed out then started rambling ‘maybe that one was a legit dream and she’s just building it up from my mind, that must be why I ended up in a modern day park’ then the issue of basically ending up in a time loop with mostly unfinished characters popped in her head ‘but my head must feel foreign to her so she messed up and ended up dropping me back into the Asylum to course correct’ she ended up reasoning her way out of this one too
‘Or I am just having those dreams out of stress and there is no evil purple haired woman scheming in the background’ it was a possibility but her mind went back to the one detail that stuck to her, but she couldn’t place
‘Where did I see that cat?’ she thought thinking about the flag ‘wait, no that’s probably a banner’ she corrected herself ‘it must be one of those noble house banner, some rival of the Duke trying to make me go crazy to get to him?’ she supposed and mentally noted to check.
She tried to go back to sleep but gave up on it, staying wide awake.
‘Maybe it’s just this room that gives me nightmares’ she thought, having nothing better to do ‘I miss my room back in the east wing’ she lamented which reminded her that there was a real possibility that she wasn’t ever going back there if the Banquette went well.
‘I could mess up on purpose to get sent back to the east wing’ she briefly entertained the idea then discarded it as soon as it came ‘I can’t predict how the Duke would react if I did such thing, he could take it out on the pups’ the thought made her giggle, mostly because neither Mos or Bos were so little anymore.
They used to be able to both sleep comfortably on her chest, now Bos alone was big enough to cover her torso
‘They might grew up but they will always be my little pups’ she affectionately scratched Bos’s ear ‘even if now I am sure they are strong enough to use me as a kite’

‘Thinking about it with me and Rhea in the same building I wouldn’t have to worry anymore about Mos and Bos being taken away’ she concluded as she thought about the issue more ‘We would both have immediate access to them as long as our rooms are close to each other’ she thought about the positives of the change ‘Maybe that’s why the Duke gave me this opportunity, it must be the only way he can grant me back the privilege of sleeping in the Main Wing without pissing off the staff’
‘Yet I still would prefer the privacy of my room in the east wing’ she couldn’t help but mourn the loss as her stomach growled reminding her of an even bigger loss ‘the food was so much better too, maybe I could ask Lucia to sneak me something?’
‘Whatever happens I will get used to it’ Veronique ended up shutting down the discussion in her head ‘It’s useless to waste time dwelling on stuff I can’t control’ she turned her head towards Rhea sleeping on the other bed, Mos had ended up failing asleep with his muzzle using her shoulder as a pillow
‘But if I fail Rhea would be sad, and I can’t deny the dogs have gotten attached to her too’ she had to admit to herself, no matter how much she wished it was just her and the dogs like before
‘I will do my best to not disappoint them’ she promised herself then grimaced remembering she also had to pass the Hound Master’s standards.
Main Dinning Room
Veronique didn’t think this morning breakfast would have been eventful after the Duke had already dumped all of that information yesterday, but she was quickly proven wrong.
Not even a couple of minutes after they all sat down some man, who she had never seen before, had busted in with a plate full of food
“Finally! I found the food court!” he had exclaimed sounding utterly annoyed
‘Is that a cat?’ Veronique thought seeing the feline wrapped over his shoulders like a loose scarf, but this was the only somewhat thought she would have of this man because of what he did next.
He did the one thing that would universally get him on the shit list of the whole populace in the Aurelia estate.
The one thing that would even have him more hated then Veronique herself.
He marched over and sat next to Rhea, slammed the plate down and started eating like a pig.
Everyone had stopped in place to watch him, nobody from the Aurelia family or the staff did anything but stare at him in complete shock, it was as if they were all frozen under a spell and couldn’t move even if they wanted it.
Such spell was only broken when Rhea suddenly busted crying and ran out yelling
“I DON’T WANT TO MARRY!” at such outburst the stranger simply looked at her with a huff and said after her
“Understandable!” with his mouth full before going back to stuffing his face, right after it was as if a switch had flipped and everyone’s outrage was palpable.
“You degenerate!” Veronique yelled back at him with a glare, which he responded with confusion as if he wasn’t even sure she was speaking to him, before she stood up and went after Rhea.
“HOW DARE YOU” the start of Duke’s furious yelling followed by Duchess Lucretia’s could be heard behind her, but her priority was to make sure Rhea was okay since she knew she could count on the Duke to deal with the pig.
