Chapter 1

In the dinner room in one of the minor wings of the Aurelia estate, a child with red hair was happily eating her breakfast.

It wasn’t exactly up to standard with what the rest of the Aurelia family was eating in the Main wing, but it also wasn’t poor in quality and would seem quite luxurious to a commoner.

Outside of bringing in the meals and cleaning up afterwards, the redhead was completely unattended by any servants, but she seemed completely unaware that such fact was highly abnormal for the rank she’s supposed represent.

Not that Veronique would ever feel alone, in a way she was surrounded by dozens and no room was ever empty. Not for her.

There was one walking on their hands around the table, a big one was using their own missing arm as some sort of club, a couple of headless ones were facing each other while holding their own heads while the one with the slack jaw was luring right behind Veronique’s chair.

Others weren’t as memorable as those ones, but sometimes some new interesting figures appeared to peak her interest.

Today wasn’t one of those days and so her mind wandered to her current situation.

‘I did read stories about people being reborn as fictional characters, but I never thought it could happen to me’ Veronique thought as she ate her breakfast completely unbothered by the dozens of walking decomposing corpses mingling around the room.

‘I don’t even remember how I died’ she paused as she tried to recollect some notion on how it could have happened

‘Well, it’s usually a truck and I can’t say I want to know how it feels to be crushed by one, so it doesn’t matter!’ she ended up concluding and shutting the matter in less then a minute, not finding important on the how.

‘The main issue is…’ not when the now was the most pressing matter ‘I know next to nothing about this novel!’ Veronique paled and silently cursed her misfortune, since in all the fiction she had read the main lead had the knowledge of future events, which gave them a tremendous advantage in securing their survival and a bright happy future.

But her on the other hand.

‘I only know a summary regarding Veronique Aurelia’s part in the story, which is a good thing since I woke up as her’ she paused her eating, a hand on her chin as she collected all she could remember about Veronique.

‘However, she’s just a minor villain, nothing she does is even connected to the main plot, she’s just the step sister to the main female lead Rhea Aurelia’ she started summarizing from her memory ‘Veronique was sent to a mental Asylum after trying to kill her’

This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.

Suddenly Veronique got a very pissed out look on her face and started to aggressively eat her food out of pure blind fury

‘Her whole character arc was just an excuse to hype up that cursed dog murderer!’ she slammed her fork in her food ‘The male lead of this horrid novel, the Crown Prince’ gulped down her coffee in a single sip, a bit staining her dress.

‘Raul Lorens’ just thinking about him made her start to growl and be messier in her meal then she would normally be.

  -

Unknown to her a boy a bit older then her was spying on her from a crack in the double doors leading to the dinning room.

He had a clearly disgusted look on his face as he turned on his feet and started speed walking towards the Main wing.

“Pigs will always be Pigs” he commented under his breath, his tone carrying anger and annoyance as did his whole posture.

  -

‘That cursed Dog killer, the Crown prince!’ Veronique swallowed the last of her eggs and used am ornate golden trimmed handkerchief to clean herself, then slammed the fork on the table and crossed her arms, gritting her teeth.

‘It’s all his damn fault!’ she thought as she got out her plush seat, or more like jumped down since she couldn’t even reach the floor with her feet when she seated on it ‘I would have actually read this novel if it wasn’t for him’ she pushed the chair towards the table in an effort to politely tidy up.

The table would be cleaned up by the maids in about an hour or two, and the next meal would appear at the appropriate time, but Veronique had never crossed paths with the maids responsible or that task.

She just walked to the dinning room and found the food already here; she was used to eat worse and assumed the servants were making an effort to be invisible using some nugget of knowledge she remembered from her old life and she was too focused on her peculiar situation to think otherwise.

‘I know what he did from a comment below Veronique’s page’ she started recalling from her memory as she walked back towards her room.

“I bet she went crazy only cause the Crown prince killed her dogs’’

“Yea, it’s a shame he never got punished for it”

‘They couldn’t have been more wrong’ she thought giving a side glance to the legless corpse that was dragging itself beside her, but that wasn’t the point.

“If there is something I loath with my whole soul…It’s pieces of trash that harm dogs!” Veronique growled out in the empty corridor, then as calmed down as she caught sight of her door, a happy smile breaking out in her face as she opened the doors.

Her eyes immediately locked with the two Doberman pups yawning on her bed

‘However, the asshole didn’t do it yet!’ she thought as the dogs fully woke up and rushed to her tails wagging.

‘Those pups are alive and well, look how cute they are!’ Veronique lowered herself to the floor to play with them uncaring about the corpse dragging itself in a circle around them.

“Good boys!” she said her voice automatically going into baby talk mode, just like any human would do when talking to a cute animal.

Unless they had no soul as many would say to others that didn’t appreciate the sentiment, even if that was utterly nonsense.

People should be judged by their actions, not by their likes even if it was safe to say that anyone hurting innocent animals for their own amusement was a red flag.

“I could spend the whole day just like this!” Veronique said with laughter in her voice, then suddenly her face grew worried as she remembered a smaller dog with rich brown fur sitting in her lap and looking back at her with unconditional love.

Then suddenly that small figure went smaller, the fur dimmed, and those eyes were clouded gray

Her voice couldn’t reach her anymore and she didn’t even have the decency to see the end.

‘I am not sure I can raise them right’
