“Tama wants to go do something fun!” I said as I stood and walked to the edge of the camp. Anna was silent, but I felt her assent. “Where do you think we should go, Anna?” I asked
“Maybe we could go destroy that goblin village!” Anna said excitedly.
I shook my head “Tama wants to help Saki find a way out! Tama wants more fries! Tera said the fries were dangerous and full of fat and something called calories. But Tama wants it anyway!”
I felt as Anna sighed before she said “yay! We can go exploring!”
I nodded happily. Deep down, I knew what Anna was doing. It wasn’t even the first creature to attach themselves to me or Saki. Though she was the most obvious, except maybe Mantheria. She just outright stated a whole bunch of stuff like me “Ascending to godhood” and “bringing creation to a dying world.”
I thought they all sounded silly, made it even worse because she wouldn’t tell sensei and even acted like she didn’t hear me when I tried to tell him! Mantheria was nice a lot, but she did mean things sometimes.
I heard another sigh from Anna who said “She was right you know? You could reshape everything and fix the cosmic imbalance in this world.”
I stared down at her and asked “What does cosmic mean?” I tilted my head as I asked the divine spirit.
“It means, you are the avatar of the goddess of creation and you have a duty to your people Tama!” Anna suddenly snapped at me.
I froze and asked “What people? You mean Saki? Saki is sleeping right now.”
I felt Anna’s scream from inside me and she went quiet after that. I smiled and nodded, good, I didn’t want to deal with her right now. I was stressed as it was and I didn’t care about divine prophecy. I cared about being a ninja and freedom for people to follow their own path.
“And that is precisely why you were picked, wasn't it Tama? Because you are simultaneously this realm's best hope and worst nightmare. Please, please, please Tama. Take this seriously!” Anna said to me in a pleading tone.
I pursed my lips before responding. “Anna, do you remember what happened last time you started talking about this stuff with me?” My voice was calm, but my rage simmered just below. Anna felt it and she recoiled.
“I can’t wait to go exploring with Tama on a fun adventure!” Anna said after a moment, her voice full of joy and delight.
Good, that should keep her quiet for now. I could have killed her before, but she was practically a child. Suddenly, she spoke up again and I almost did kill her.
“Tama, I won’t bring it up again I swear, but please do me one favor before we leave this city. Please put their souls to rest. They at least deserve that.” Anna said quietly. I felt her pain and loss, it was strong.
I nodded, saying that I would be happy to do it. I looked over at sleeping Saki and Tristy. I glanced at Paige who was staring at me. I smiled back at her, she glared back. I hated priestesses, they truly were the worst.
“They really are!” said Anna and I smiled. Anna had mentioned a high priestess before and how she had killed her causing this city to collapse. That meant I needed to pay a visit to the temple didn’t I?
“Nya, let's go Anna. Tama wants to kill something!” I said as I stretched before jumping into the air.
Right before I blinked Anna pointed me mentally in the right direction and I vanished. I re-appeared and landed on top of the large building I had thrown Tristy off earlier. She screamed every single time.
If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
I almost felt bad, but if she was going to be a strong ninja. She would have to face much worse by the end of the week. Especially if this place was what Sensei had always told me about.
One more long blink and I was at the edge of the water. Apparently, the temple was on the other side? I could just make out the other shoreline. Two? Three? Definitely four, I told myself.
Anna nodded her assent and I vanished again. Four blinks later I landed on the shore of the opposite side. A tentacle came out to grab me, I sliced it in half. The water turned a dark purple where the tentacle bled. I ignored it and kept walking.
We made our way through the city ruins, block after block of dark stone buildings with faintly glowing runes. All crumbling in some shape or form, then we entered a doorway in a wall at the very end. Similar to what I had originally come out of.
I followed the path until I reached a large room. There was a fountain against the wall pouring divine water. Pillars covered the room, and there was a single wardrobe that was open. A few feet from the water fountain was a robe that looked to be made of divine fabric lay on the floor.
Two goblin corpses lay on the floor. One had been stabbed through the back.. Saki. The other had cut their own throat. Anna.
I also noticed something interesting and blinked over to a corner of the room. There was some blood on the floor, but it was the ceiling that made me smile. In the ceiling, half merged with it. Was Saki’s dress, bra, and panties. I couldn’t help myself. I giggle madly for a moment.
“Who dares enter my hallowed ground with such defilement!” said a deep feminine voice. I twirled just in time to dodge a sharp dagger of water. Looking at the fountain, a figure made of dark liquid that looked like water but more black was floating above it. It had the form of a woman in her thirties.
I heard Anna hiss inside me and I grinned, I had just found my thing to kill. “Tama was just looking around for a dumb bad guy to kill. Are you Tama’s dumb bad guy?” I asked giddily. In response the figure fired more water at me. I blinked past them and sliced down with Serenity. She cut clean through the figure but the figure reformed. I frowned, I was positive I had hit the core.
I swung again quickly and watched as the core repaired itself using the divine water in the pool. Got it, Divine water heals bad ladies. I blinked back behind one of the pillars as another bolt of ice almost hit me. It slammed into the pillar and shattered it, but stopped the bolt.
Good, There were around eight pillars left. I could do this all day! I decided to try something. I blinked towards the corner and latched onto Saki’s clothes. They held, showing that despite Saki’s mature dressing, she was always protected.
“Ready Anna?” I asked the pissed off divine spirit. All I got was a hiss in return. “Tama will take that as a yes!” I said and I ejected her from my body. The moment I did, Anna made a beeline directly to the dark figure, I could practically feel the rage emanating from her.
“I don’t know how you lived you worthless void of a creature, but I will end you here and now!!!” Anna screamed viscerally as she literally launched herself full force at the dark figure.
The figure raised a watery arm to stop Anna, but Anna was faster, she slammed hard into the dark creature and began to consume her. The two started to consume back and forth. Kind of anti-climactic. I let go of Saki's clothes and fell to the ground. I blinked around the room looking for something. I found it in the robe closet at the back.
There was a lever! I pulled the lever and said “Pull the lever Tama!” The ceiling retreated and was replaced with spikes that started to descend. I laughed even harder and said “Wrong Lever!” in a sing-song voice. I tried to put the level back but it snapped off.
I shrugged and pulled the entire wardrobe out of the wall to see what was behind it. All I heard from the side was Anna’s screeching. The contraption behind had a single thick line of water mana that went into the ceiling and I smirked. An enchanted water rope? That was so cool!
But This wasn’t helping, plan B! I blinked over to the fountain where the two girls were having their spat and put away serenity. I stabbed my dagger into the center of the fountain, then I created water chains all around to lock it in place. Then, I walked back, making the water chain longer until I was just at the room entrance.
I counted to three then yelled “Hope the tooth fairy likes this one!” and pulled as hard as I could. Apparently it was overkill and the fountain dislodged from the wall and flew towards me.
The two girls, now floating above where the fountain used to be, stopped and looked at the hole where the fountain was. Then they both turned to me. I smiled and blinked directly in front of them.
A single slice was all it took this time and the dark lady stayed down. The spikes continued their steady decline, I grabbed my dagger from the water as Anna reattached herself to me and became my gi again. I jumped to the spikes, grabbed one and cut it at the tip.
I did a flip as I landed and said “Nya! Tama got a ceiling spike!” I held the ceiling spike above my head to show it off to Anna before putting it in my bag.
