Most competitive events had already concluded, but the club performances, member recruitments, and the wildly popular trade fair kept the venue bustling with crowds. Here, both teachers and students could set up stalls with a simple registration. Martial skills, cultivation manuals, formation diagrams, treasures, and all kinds of items could be sold or exchanged. It was a test of eyesight — and a paradise for treasure hunters.
On this day, however, a sudden stir swept through the fair.
Mo Jing, Yun Juan, and Yun Shu — the three beauties — appeared together.
Three days had passed since their championship victory. Was their appearance simply to cool down the frenzy of their fans?
Hardly. They clearly had more important business.
Over the past two months, Yun Juan and Yun Shu had been inseparable.
Once restless and aimless, always worrying her family and Mo Jing, Yun Juan had, after meeting Yun Shu, begged to learn medical skills. No one expected her to possess astonishing talent in this field, progressing so rapidly that even Yun Shu praised her as a medical genius.
After a long talk with her, Mo Jing confirmed that Yun Juan had finally found her life purpose: to become a healer.
Mo Jing respected her choice and, like an elder sister, urged her to study diligently.
Afterward, Mo Jing took out a strange-looking weapon, her tone tinged with faint regret.
“I designed this with great care, intending to give it to you as an enrollment gift. But now that you’ve chosen medicine, I’m afraid you won’t need it. I’ll design something new for you instead.”
Yun Shu, standing nearby, suddenly lit up, staring fixedly at the weapon.
“Jingjing… what treasure is this?”
Mo Jing explained calmly.
“I call it the Multi?Barrel Rocket Launcher. The small outer barrels fire small fireballs continuously, ideal for group attacks. The thick central barrel charges for a single, powerful fireball, perfect for single targets. Forged from my special alloy and inscribed with fire formations, it’s quite powerful. The more mana you channel into it, the deadlier the blasts — it’s a growth?type treasure.”
Yun Shu’s heart raced, and she asked nervously,
“I’m a fire elemental cultivator too, just like Yun Juan… Can I test it?”
Mo Jing agreed without hesitation.
The three headed to the spell testing grounds.
The launcher was fairly large, yet when held by the delicate Yun Shu, it created a striking contrast of fragile beauty and brutal power. Miniature floating formations carved into its frame made it light and easy to wield.
Yun Shu took a deep breath and began firing.
At first, small fireballs shot steadily and accurately, shattering boulders the size of human heads with ease.
Soon, the fireballs came faster and thicker, engulfing the field in smoke and flames. Mo Jing and Yun Juan were forced to back away repeatedly.
Suddenly, the rapid fire stopped.
Through the dust, Yun Shu’s eyes blazed with excitement. The launcher’s barrel was aimed at a giant rock four people tall, charging at full power!
“Back, now!” Mo Jing shouted sharply.
In the next instant —
A scarlet beam blasted out like lightning.
A deafening boom shook the ground. Smoke billowed toward the sky.
The explosion was so violent that the field keeper rushed over to investigate.
When the smoke cleared, the area was in ruins.
Yun Shu was covered in dust, but her spirit was soaring.
Mo Jing quickly explained and paid for the damage without complaint.
Yun Shu scratched her head, a little sheepish.
“I’ve been called a fire elemental genius since I was little, but I can never control my power. I’ve caused so much trouble. My family made me put fire arts aside and study medicine to calm my heart… I haven’t felt this free in so long! This weapon is perfect!”
Mo Jing smiled gently.
“I see. This Multi?Barrel Rocket Launcher is fated to be yours. It’s a gift.”
Yun Shu was overjoyed.
Mo Jing added, “Use low-power mode normally. Only unleash full power when absolutely necessary.”
Just like that, the team’s roles were clearly defined:
Yun Juan focused on medicine, supporting as the healer. Yun Shu returned to fire combat, serving as the main damage dealer.
For the next three days, the three girls prepared intensely for practical combat gear, getting ready for their summer assignment:
Hunting Spirit Beasts.
Mo Jing’s equipment was breathtakingly cool:
-
Main Weapon: Seven-Star Overlord Spear
Reforged from her family’s heirloom, the Thunder?Singing Spear. Its shaft was carved with intricate formations and drilled with seven slots. Four had already been embedded with gems — thunder, fire, wind, ice — vastly increasing its power. Three slots remained open for future opportunities.
-
Armor: Golden Sacred Armor
Inspired by memories of Earth, combining nanotechnology and formation arts. It shone brilliantly, boasted incredible defense, and could be equipped in just a few breaths. A hidden alloy tactical dagger was tucked inside the leg guards for emergencies.
Standing tall, spear in hand and armor gleaming, Mo Jing looked stunningly powerful.
Yun Shu’s gear was equally impressive:
- A set of scarlet combat armor, boldly and charmingly designed, exuding wild energy;
- Custom arm bracers to secure her Multi?Barrel Rocket Launcher, making it steady and easy to operate;
- Secondary Weapon: Three-Pointed Double-Edged Blade
A treasured blade of the Yun clan, originally inscribed with the defensive formation Golden Bell Barrier. Mo Jing modified it further, embedding fire gems to greatly boost its durability and attack power.
The three were fully equipped.
A storm of blood and battle was about to descend upon the Spirit Beast Forest.
