LOG-112.

  LOG-112.

The eventual entry into the isolated, private chamber of Fuchsia's owner…wasn't quite what I'd expected.

"You're here. You came. Good. G-good."

Sapphires were kind of the epitome of aristocratic Gems, in a way. Nobles, for lack of a better term. Namely because most of the time, they didn't actually do all that much.

"Of course, your Grand Clarity! We've brought the comforts you requested!"

It was mainly due to just how difficult, expensive and utterly time consuming (by Imperial standards, which said a lot all on its own) it was to create them that lent the miniscule blue oracles their status. The reason they were so highly elevated compared to other aristocrats was because when they did provide some actual use, it was usually of vital importance to the individuals they were working with.

"Set them…set them down where you wish. Attend me, Fuchsia."

Star Sapphires were the distinctly more extreme version of that. Quite literally rarer than Diamonds with the birth of Pink, casual research (and a bit of guilty pilfering from Sodalite's memories) indicated that there had been no more than three Star Sapphires in existence in all of recorded Imperial history, following White Diamond's initial expansion from the boundaries of Homeworld.

"I-is there something wrong, your Grand Clarity?"

First was the one present upon the Confluence, ostensibly kept in the Empire's premier waystation for easy relocation if needed. An emergency oracle, in essence, should a new frontier that required her foresight suddenly open up.

"...Yes. No. I-the cushions. Give me one. The largest one you have. Put it there. No, there."

Second was the one currently stationed within the Sapphiric Routes. The portion of the Empire where most Sapphires were currently being produced. According to Sodalite's recollection, she was in charge of reducing potential defects amongst the new generations due to the resource shortage, and stood as one of Blue Diamond's highest ranked advisors, though considering the state of the ruler in question, interaction was infrequent at best.

  "Yes, your Grand Clarity."

And third was the one that had been stationed on Earth to assist in facilitating the Great Diamond Authority's grand expansion into an entirely new galaxy, starting with Pink's first ever colony.

  "..."

There was a reason most Gems, old and new, cursed the place. That near invaluable seer was either shattered or corrupted now, in all likelihood.

  "..."

A statistical impossibility. Unless one kept in mind that Sapphires struggled to predict Diamonds at the best of times, often having to plan around them or model the idea of them to actually get anywhere.

"Is…is there anything else you might require, your Grand Clarity?"

With the context of who Rose Quartz truly was, it made sense that the precog had likely been stumped. Possibly even considered defective, thus necessitating the arrival of the replacement that would eventually form half of Garnet, to see if using a different, less focused Gem might work in defeating the rebels.

  "I…"

She was regal, elegant, with skin the colour of a cloudless sky and countless shades of what could be mistaken for freshly laid snow, accentuated by comparatively miniscule amounts of darker blue making up her outfit. Long, flowing white hair cascaded down her shoulders, accentuating the puffed sleeves and silky looking gloves extending up her forearms. Her dress was its own wonder of geometric design, but it was the headpiece that truly kept my attention.

A blue and white dome shaped helmet hid the upper half of her features, a prominent white gemstone protruding out the front of the headwear, precisely where her eye should have been, were the space not already occupied.

A gemstone locked onto my own form, pinning me in place with an endless, piercing stare. One that damn well might have broken my mask there and then, if it weren't for the fact that the Star Sapphire appeared to be equally frozen.

An idle, inappropriate thought strayed past my mind, considering the situation. Namely that the oracle was beautiful enough that I'd begun doing borderline poetry in my head while looking at her. Another noted that despite having the same, Ruby-like proportions of lesser Sapphires, she was just a little bigger. Perhaps the size of a Peridot. Or maybe the Crystal Gems' Amethyst.

Shaking her enthralling visage out of my thoughts, I sketched out a brief bow, deeper than normal, taking the opportunity to tear my eyes away from her.

"I am at your service, your Grand Clarity, should you require it."

Dear Stars if she wasn't a sight. Not even in the sense of an attractive person. More like looking at the night sky. Or maybe an ice sculpture. It was no wonder she was kept away from other Gems. No one would be able to get any damn work done.

  "You…I…"

Chancing a glance upwards, I watched in minor horror as the precognitive Gem glanced around, shaking hands gently going up to grasp at her helmet, pressing against it for a moment before falling once more, wringing against each other in a startlingly similar way to Vermilion's nervous mannerisms.

…Painful reminder aside, the situation was deteriorating. Fuchsia evidently didn't know what to do. The Star Sapphire seemed to be, in human terms, in the midst of entering a fucking panic attack, and I was still trying to determine whether I'd been found out before even stepping into the room.

  "Fah-la-lala-le~rest now, be free~"

So I did what any Pearl worth her gemstone would do, and let a gentle tune erupt from my lips, beginning to slowly tiptoe forward. The oracle showed no reaction, still shaking.

"The future can wait, just breathe with me~"

It was a guess. What would scare a precognitive the most? Something frightening they had seen, no doubt. Regardless of the reason, it brought me a step closer, the blue Gem in front of me stilling ever so slightly.

  "Fah-la-lala-le~let worries stay~"

One last step. A microsecond of hesitation before I reached forward, grasping the panicked seer's hands in my own, gently cupping them together.

"Drift with the moment, don't fade away~"

Her mouth opened and closed, but she didn't pull backwards. Instead, she merely shivered in place as I slowly drew her closer, freeing one arm to wrap around her tense shoulders.

  "Fah-la-lala-le~calm as can be~"

She slowly relaxed further, previously ragged breaths evening out as I gently embraced her, that smooth helmet gently pressing against my chest. I did my best to ignore Fuchsia's utterly gobsmacked stare

"Here in the present, you're safe with me~"

It wasn't a planned song. Nor something I'd ripped off from my memories and repurposed. So, unsure of what else to do, I capped off the odd little performance as neatly as I could, while trying not to enter my own panic attack as I realised I'd just pulled one of the Empire's most valuable (and likely loyal) Gems into a hug.

  "Fah-la-lala-le~"

Silence followed the meaningless noises. Right up until the aristocratic oracle quickly reached up and hugged me back, all but slamming her face into my chest.

I'd be a liar if I said I didn't blush a fair bit as Fuchsia's jaw dropped to a point that likely would have hurt a human being, all while the precognitive currently doing her level best to dig into my lightform mumbled to herself in seeming despair.

"Now this makes even less sense…!"

She emphasized the frustrated line by promptly throwing both of us sideways, right into the Quartz sized cushion she'd apparently had my pink counterpart lay down in advance of our little interaction.

"...You can l-let go of me now, Overseer."

  …Eh?
