Chapter 39: Crisis and History
After the red and black clothed mystic fell unconscious, she was carried to a bedroom next to Rouge’s office. Ms. Silver looked like she was about to jump into the water but stopped herself before committing.
“What now?”
Specter broke the silence. He felt the fear within him grip hard. Ms. Silver looked at the mystics. She pondered about their next move.
While she wanted to act, this situation was a first. While she had been in a multitude of crisis where the silver moon sect had to fight other sects and cults, she had never fought against the mystics of a church before.
“The main branch. I will contact the main branch and await orders.”
Ms. Silver made a simple choice, ask the more experienced. The main branch was located in the capital city, Asten City, and had 5 saints protecting it at all times.
Shade had read many reports and records whenever he had nothing else to do. As he was done with his time in school, he still felt a bit restless when he didn’t study, that was the excuse he used when asked why he wanted to read the records.
The truth was that he had hoped to find something that could help him grow stronger. Though this was while he was splitting himself between Shade and Mr. Magician.
Shade thought back to the records he had read…The youngest of the saints of silver is the Silver Witch. That is probably Ms. Silver. Except from her and the 5 protecting the capital, there are more than 8 saints divided between different regions.
Ms. Silver was about to jump into the water a second time but stopped once again. She spoke with an apparent fake calm.
“You may return home. Inform Olivia and Andrew that we are in war. You may take precautions to protect your family.”
…
Shade returned home, he took off most of his silver accessories and his purple cape… Why did Captain give me so many accessories? It’s a pain to take them off all the time.

Shade noticed that Magician wanted to speak. Shade shifted his attention to the nefarious smile… Hey, the old man has been quiet for a while. Do you know why?
“Why would I know if you don’t. Weren’t you made from my split personality and Judgements residual power when he took control of me. In some ways, shouldn’t you be me?”
Magician sighed before speaking… I do know most of what you know and also bit and pieces of what Judgement knows. However, I do not know everything. We are practically different individuals now. You may know things that I don’t, and while we do share the same body, I think it is best that we try to keep each other sane. Now, I’ll ask again. Do you know why Judgement has been quiet?
Shade thought for a moment when he suddenly heard a sigh coming from Judgement… I can hear you two talking. Both of you know that right?
Judgement sighed again before continuing… I feel, angry and conflicted. I got quiet because I thought back to the time when I was alive.
Shade thought, he wanted to ask what happened during the time he was alive. The person Shade was talking to was none other than a former saint of the Silver Moon Church.
Shade understood that there was history which he didn’t learn in school. Mystics and actual gods weren’t part of the curriculum. Shade didn’t know that any of them actually existed until he became a mystic.
Shade decided to ask what happened during Judgment time in the Silver Moon Church that caused him to become quiet.
Judgement thought back for a moment before speaking… During my time, mystics were called knights. We knights preached to the civilians and guarded them from mystical forces.
That time was much more chaotic than now. Monsters of unknown origin, cults, and sects were everywhere. During that time, there were more than 21 churches that proselytized their god’s teachings.
Churches waged war on a daily basis. In my last moments we were singed from all sides, we had lost a great deal of knights with no escape in sight.
After spearheading every large operation, I had become a big enough threat for all churches to set bounties on me. They all attacked in full force just to kill me and exterminate all of the silver moon's followers.
I chose to use all the authority my characteristics could muster and erased certain parts of every knight’s and even gods’ memory.
“You could do that?”
Judgement laughed dryly… Yes, and no. There were some special circumstances back then. If we tried to do that again then it wouldn’t work even if we had the cooperation of multiple gods. For now, all you need to know is that I offered my life to erase some memories. Just to stop our church from being destroyed, and now they attacked us again. I started thinking that maybe, maybe I should had fought to the death instead of self-destructing.
After speaking to Judgement, Shade finally managed to reach the orphanage building and noticed that he had arrived at early in the morning, when no one was awake. He went to his room and laid down in his bed. While he thought about what to do next, the exhaust washed over Shade as he suddenly fell asleep.
