Tremors shook the world. Vorin and the mayor struggled to keep their footing on the loose soil of the garden.
Screams started to fill the air from the town as the tremors spread out and reached the residential area.
A fissure came into existence and started to split the town by the main road. With every inch it got quicker and louder.
The tremors intensified, sending buildings crashing into dust and people into pure chaos.
Beyond the noise and the destruction, another indicator that the peaceful town was about to be a battlefield was the stench of disease erupting from the fissure in the form of a toxic green cloud.
Vorin ran around the mayor’s house using every point of his agility to not stumble during the earth-shattering tremors. His eyes immediately locked onto the destruction.
A quarter of the buildings in the residential district were completely obliterated, and clouds of dust were battling a death cloud for airspace.
People were vomiting blood in the streets as they were exposed to spurts of the plague at a time. Those were the lucky ones. People who made direct contact with the green cloud were being dosed with plagues and then sucked dry to feed the plague vampire living beneath their feet. People-shaped dust clouds were instantly being formed and then the wind would whisk them away.
The Plague Doctor was immune to any sort of disease and didn’t hesitate another second before running into the fray. His healing skill immediately was being used to cure the already sick. His voice constantly shouting orders to back away or get out of town to the people who hadn’t been infected yet.
Dozens of thoughts raced through his brain as he raced through the streets saving everyone he could. Screams and tremors were all blocked out so he could focus on his mission. The only mission that mattered. These people were his patients now and the doctor was in.

Yu and Synexus were still in their room at the inn discussing the history of plagues on Motholo while making a list of herbs that were naturally good at curing or preventing them when a small earthquake shook the building. Dust rained from the ceiling and distant screams flowed through the door leading to the balcony.
Another quake that was more intense than the first forced them to flee off the balcony before their room caved in. Synexus glided down with his ethereal wings followed by Yu gracefully showing off her mastery in the air.
More tremors came and the town was in ruin. Their eyes took at the destruction already caused along with the fissure making its way towards them. A sickly green gas violently shot out of it carrying the smell of death with it.
Synexus almost wretched at the assault on his nose once again taking him back to the sight of the skinwalker feeding pit. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any time to bring up the past.
More and more townspeople started to turn to dust and fade away as soon as the cloud hit them.
“Yu, can you do something about that cloud?”
She was already gathering mana, and his question didn’t need to be asked.
A massive howling wind picked up and split down the sides of the fissure funneling the toxic gas up and out of the town.
“I can’t hold this long!”
“It’ll be long enough! I’m on it!” Synexus yelled back as he took off in a sprint.
He got as close as he dared to the gas and to Yu’s violent winds. His palm met the road, and Instant Repair started to be repeatedly cast.
The fissure slowed, and then it stopped. Moments later it started reversing like time itself was being turned back. Slowly the gas started to disperse.
Synexus kept pouring mana into the skill until the fissure was closed as far as his eyes could see and the gas stopped pouring out. Seconds later the wind stopped howling and returned to a cold, lazy winter breeze.

Another wave of quakes hit except this time they were more concentrated, and the sound of an eruption rang out from the other end of town. Towers of the death gas and leeches could be seen from a distance. Plague was raining down on Northern Slate. Yu and Synexus took off towards the sound.

Vorin healed nearly sixty people before the tremors stopped and the gas started to disperse. He watched as the part of the fissure by him stitched itself up immediately knowing it was Synexus using his skill.
His healed patients ran towards the western gate to evacuate the town as quickly as possible. He was going to run over there and make sure they got out but was stopped by an intense shaking. Looking to where it was originating from, he was able to see the moment a big mound shot up from the ground, sending the mayor’s house into a storm of splinters.
Toxic gas and leeches were spit into the sky before gravity caused them to rain back down on the town. His mask could see dense plague mana radiating from the small creatures attempting to land on any townspeople still around.
Scythes appeared in his hands, and he went to slash out when he felt something attempting to land near him. Fortunately, his blades stopped less than an inch from Gene.
“Apologies, I thought you were a leech.”
“My silent flight is both a blessing and a curse.”
“Do you know what this is? At this rate there won’t be a town left.”
Gene sighed. “I only have speculation from what we’ve seen. Only one being, however, can have such potent mastery over plagues.”
“An Ullashtt?”
“Yes. Plague, Disgust Ever Multiplying.”
Vorin nodded in silence.
“Can you…can you deliver this information to Southern Slate?”
“Indeed. It’s the only way I can be useful right now.”
Without another word Gene took off and flew to the south. Vorin looked back towards the cone spewing out death like a boil oozing pus and then sped into a sprint.
His scythes could act as an extension of his arms for his skills. Each blade flashed out and met with a leech instantly casting his cure plague skill to eradicate them. Every leech that was cleansed from the world caused more tremors and roars of pain from the eruption cone.
Another fierce wind picked up and blew the toxic cloud towards the north, outside of the town. Vorin looked over as his blades met rotten leech flesh to see Yu standing there triumphantly. Her focus was clearly on the massive wind, but her fire kept lashing out to incinerate any leeches that got within her vicinity.
A dozen of Synexus’ razor hydra plants were snapping their razor-sharp appendages into the air and grabbing leeches to devour before they even touched the ground. As for Synexus himself, Vorin caught sight of him sprinting towards the mound of dirt. He watched as his armor morphed to counteract any attempt from the leeches. By the time he made it to the hole, ten of the foul creatures were crawling on him attempting to break through.
Vorin continued to vanquish the plague leeches while watching Synexus lay his palm against the displaced earth and repair it. The hole closed and the dirt started to settle back to where it was.
Their foe retaliated with the most intense quake yet. Synexus struggled with repairing the weak spot fully as if the creature was attempting to break through once more.
Against the wave of leeches, or another pressurized cloud of the toxic gas, he may have had a chance. Unfortunately, the ullashtt had enough.
The entire northern half of the town exploded as a massive oozing creature emerged. Its sickly green and brown head touched the clouds. It looked like the silhouette of a shapeless blob against the night sky. A closer look along the sides of the beast would reveal thin appendages numbering in the thousands.
It roared from no discernible mouth. The air instantly smelt of bile. Then it spoke.
“YOU WILL ALL DIE NOW! SUCCUMB TO MY CREATIONS! ILL AVENGE MY KIN!”
That last comment was clearly pointed at where Synexus had landed after being flung through the air by the violent emergence of Plague.

Gene flew fast only looking back when the mountain range shook and the shadow of a monster appeared. It was clear that they had finally angered the beast enough for him to come out from hiding.
They flew faster to get to Southern Slate and get Vorin the backup he would need.
Minutes later the town came into view except it was in ruins like its northern counterpart. Remnants of the gas could be seen dissipating in the air. A mass of class chosen were standing in the middle of the town. That was where they would land.

Zuls and the class chosen defense of Southern Slate were about to be overrun by the never-ending leeches when suddenly the gas and the river of leeches stopped.
No one let down their guard.
No one sat down.
No one even let out a sigh of relief.
Pure exhaustion could be seen on their faces and no one wanted to grasp onto false hope.
Gene came down fast and landed right by Zuls. She was too tired to even react quickly.
“What happened here?”
“Leeches and plague gas.” Zuls let out in between heavy breaths.
“As I feared. Something similar is happening in Northern Slate except the beast causing it has now turned his undivided attention towards them because of Vorin. Zuls, it’s an ullashtt.”
Her face scrunched into a thousand different emotions. Her fists clenched until her nails dug into her palms.
She instantly recalled Element hoping that Vorin could heal him as soon as they got to the fight or he would hold out long enough for them to kill the monster responsible.
“We have one more fight. Anyone who wants to come can. It’s time we get some revenge!”
The rest of the party immediately jumped into gear to follow. Zuls on Sovereign, Kumo Cloud Walking, Shell on a wave of water, and Prith simply pulling out the speed of a blade master.
Surprisingly, they weren’t the only ones. The town’s class chosen yelled for their fallen friends and family then raced off into the night to slay the beast that had ruined their town.
