Hello Everyone!
Usually, I post a quick blurb before or after a chapter — but today, if you’ll indulge a wordy author, I wanted to share a few thoughts.
I love this story.
Gobbo began as my way of saying “Just do it.” I needed to stop stalling, stop chasing perfection, and write. And to force myself to be brief (not easy for someone as long-winded as me), I gave myself a strict limit:
30 minutes per chapter. During my lunch break.
Yeah. In hindsight… that was a little unfair — to the story, to myself, and to you, my readers.
Those first ~30 chapters? They were rushed. Tight, yes, but often too tight. Lacking room to breathe. And honestly? They rambled. I was still figuring out the story.
Figuring out the characters living in it.
I’m still using Gobbo as my training ground — learning pacing, structure, momentum — but these days, I try to give each chapter the respect it deserves.
So what does that mean?
No — I’m not dropping the story.
(Though maybe the Vaarg in me enjoyed holding that suspense a moment too long.)
What it does mean is:
? I’m working on a soft rewrite of the early chapters. No major retcons — just smoothing, tightening, and giving things a bit more flesh. I’ll let you know when those go live.
? If you ever feel a chapter drags or rushes something too quickly, I’d genuinely appreciate your feedback. I may not take every suggestion, but I’ll consider all of them with gratitude.
? My second story taught me a lot about timing and urgency — and that’s shaping how Gobbo moves going forward. You should start to feel that shift now.
Also — a small milestone.
Did you know we’ve held steady at around 90 average readers?
That might not sound huge in Royal Road terms, but to me? That’s incredible.
This community is small, but mighty — and deeply appreciated.
Thank you for sticking with me through this strange, wonderful little tale.
Ad Astra,
—TJ
