Chpater 70

  Chapter 70

Deep within the bustling heart of Tollana's capital, the Tollan command center stands as a bastion of the advanced world's defenses, its sleek design reflecting the technological prowess of its creators. The room, a perfect circle, is enveloped in a muted grey hue, lending an air of quiet intensity. Opaque glass windows shield its inner workings from prying eyes, while four impressive quantum computer terminals hum softly, their light flickering as they tirelessly monitor subspace activity and prepare the infamous ion cannons for deployment at a moment's notice.

“Have all the guests arrived?” inquired Travelle, the newly appointed High Chancellor of Tollana, her voice steady yet filled with the weight of responsibility.

“Yes, Chancellor,” replied a Tollan assistant, their tone respectful and assured. “All of the guests have arrived for the funeral, including SG-1.”

"Good, very good, I will head to the ceremony shortly," responded Travelle.

Soon, monitors began to beep erratically.

“High Chancellor, Travelle!” a Tollan guardsman shouted, his voice laced with alarm.

An unsettling shadow crossed Chancellor Travelle’s face.

She strode to his workstation with purpose and inquired, “What’s the situation? Has something occurred?”

"High Chancellor, three Asgard motherships just dropped out of hyperspace and are getting in geosynchronous orbit around the planet,"said the guardsman. "How shall I respond?".

  "Hail them,"ordered the Tollan Chancellor.

On a holographic viewscreen appeared the bust of three Asgard: Heimdall, Freyr, and Thor.

"Commander Thor, for what pleasure do we deserve this visit?"said Travelle, masking her suspicion.

"Greetings, Travelle. We received word from High Chancellor Penegal of High Chancellor Omak's untimely passing. We decided to send a delegation from O'thalla to mourn his death," said Thor.

Travelle choked nervously then replied, "I understand, but may I inquire why you brought three Asgard motherships to Tollana? Surely, a single vessel would suffice?"

"Please excuse our unscheduled appearance," Commander Freyr interjected. "We were engaged in critical trade negotiations in a nearby system when we received the news. We decided to accompany the Supreme Commander as an official delegation of the Asgard High Council."

"Oh my, well in that case you are most welcome to hover over our tranquil skies as we mourn the loss of Chancellor Omak,"said Travelle masking her sentiments.

After the transmission ended, Travelle asked the four guardsmen to leave the room.

  "Maam?"questioned the senior guardsman.

  "I said leave, Now!"yelled Travelle.

The four guardsmen then quickly left the room while High Chancellor Travelle stayed behind. She then pulled out a small round orb and activated it, the mysterious device levitating in the air.

"Chancellor Travelle, what a pleasant surprise, we had just started to worry about you. How goes the progress of our shipment." Appearing in a holographic projection from the orb, was none other than Tanith, a minor System Lord of the Goa'uld and servant of Anubis.

"We have a slight delay. The Asgard are here, and they brought along three motherships,"said Travelle.

Anger grew in Tanith at the mention of the Asgard fleet. "Th- Three Motherships?" said Tanith.

Then Tanith followed with another question, "Which Asgard?"

"Thor, along with two more from the Asgard High Council,"responded Travelle.

"Thor! Thor should be dead. No wonder why we haven't heard back from Osiris. I know, you two are planning something aren't you? Inquired Tanith.

"No Lord Tanith, I assure you that this was not done against your wishes. They are only here for Chancellor Omak's funeral. We will deliver your shipment as soon as possible,"she retorted.

Tanith's features filled with rage. Then he opened up his mouth and said,"Be not deceived, this insolence will not go unpunished."Tanith's eyes flashed white with rage. "Tollana will suffer the full wrath of Anubis. Even the most advanced human world will bow to the might of the Goa'uld.

  The transmission ended.

Travelle contemplated the meaning of this message. Then she fixed her face, checked her composure and headed out to the forum of Tollana to begin Chancellor Omak's funeral.
