Chapter 44

  Chapter 44

Morning had come. As the Martian sun hit the face of Amos, he quickly rose to welcome the new day.

“This place looks like Nevada, or maybe Jordan's Wadi Rum, hmm or maybe the African Sahara?” thought Amos to himself as he peered out the two story glass window lining his Penthouse suite. Although Mars wasn’t Earth, Amos felt right at home on the red planet. As he rolled out of bed, Amos quickly took a shower then printed a breakfast burrito and glass of orange juice before heading outside to see his brand new home.

“Excuse me your majesty; con pardon me my king.” Amos had barely stepped out of his apartment only to be bombarded by swarms of beautiful women.

“Whitney Houston? Kate Winslet? 2000s Oprah Winfrey? Where the hell did all these women come from? Wait, is that The Weather Girls, Oh my God, It's raining elves!” said Amos Fyree, shaking his head as he walked through the, now completely full, Lantean City Ship. Amos made his way down from the western pier towards the city center and headed towards the gateroom. There he saw Karlan, Natalie Portman and Freyr working with several of the new elves.

“Oh Amos, thank goodness you're here,” said Freyr, a look of urgency painted on his face.

Amos had barely walked into the control room when Freyr and the others rushed towards him begging for help.

"What's going on Freyr, have the elves started replicating?” said Amos, half jokingly.

Freyr stood before Amos with a solemn look on his face, "It's not that. It's the algorithm that Freya made. It was left on last night while we all went to sleep and the computer kept printing more elves based off of the models and celebrities on Earth. I tried to turn it off when I woke up but by then all of these elves had already been created,” said Freyr, his expression reminiscent of the past.

As they were speaking an elf with the same likeness and appearance as Whoopi Goldberg walked into the gateroom and handed Freyr a virtual tablet.

"Thank you Whoopi,” said Freyr with weight on his voice. “According to my calculations there are approximately thirty thousand elves currently living on Alfheim.”

"30,000!” screamed Amos. Everyone in the gateroom and the surrounding area stopped what they were doing and turned to look at their bewildered King of Queens. He quickly apologized to all the elves and then looked down towards Freyr in a low whisper. “Freyr, how many people can this city hold? Do we even have enough resources to support 30,000 women? I mean, what the hell have they been up to this entire time?”

Karlan, seeing Amos completely distraught, walked up to him and comforted the new king of the elves. “It's ok Amos, Natalie and I printed enough food synthesizers, clothes, and other necessities once we discovered the city was filled with people. Fortunately, each Lantean City Ship can hold 300,000 souls so we won't run out of enough space anytime soon,” said Karlan with a look of reassurance draped on his face.

Freyr looked at Amos and added, "In order to keep them occupied, I've printed Asgard computers as well as virtual tablets and charged every elf to research everything about their race. I've provided them access to Earth's internet and they have been prodding through Elven lore and mythology learning everything they can. From your mythology about my people the Asgard, to your Lord of the Rings, the elves are currently becoming versed in what they perceive as their history and their culture.

“That's good for the time being. Just make sure the elves don't get jumpers and go to Earth. Both Hollywood and Stargate Command would have my ass if news broke of a fleet of android celebrity clones flying around the planet in alien space ships asking governments to join the Commonwealth.” Amos responded. "Give me a moment, let me wake up Freya and Reva, we'll need their help with this.”

Amos dashed back to the western pier to get Reva and Freya out of bed. When he arrived back at his Penthouse suite he saw the two eating breakfast on the balcony staring out at the Martian landscape.

"Reva, Freya, we have a situation! We need you both in the gateroom.” said Amos with a sense of urgency in his tone.

Both Reva and Freya quickly finished their meal and headed back to the gate room with Amos.

Amos had gone to get Reva and Freya to help the rest of his team figure out something meaningful for the elves to do, yet when he returned he found them already busy at work with a task that was not only meaningful but necessary for the cultivation of their new home.

Amos had returned to the Control tower only to find the elves busy at work designing a new city. "What is that?”asked Amos, his curiosity piqued.

"We're building a city, your majesty. A larger city which will serve as the foundation of our new colony underground,” said an elf looking like Nia Long.

"Do you have enough tools to start building a city down below?”asked Amos.

“Yes, my king, we think so at least. Actually, we were looking through the SGC mission reports and were wondering if we could go off-world to get more tools we can use to make the area below Olympus Mons beautiful,” said another elf in the image of Sandra Bullock.

“Are those worlds you're looking at a part of the Commonwealth?” Amos asked.

"No my king, they are not, however, if you'd like we could recruit these worlds into your Commonwealth if you'd like. Serving the Commonwealth, is our reason for being after all,”said the elven Sandra, her demeanor as submissive as Reva's.

Amos pondered if giving the elves more autonomy was the right thing to do. They were closely related to the replicators. However, they did accidently print 30,000 elves and the area below the city was ripe for cultivation. Keeping them trapped in this Lantean City Ship felt cruel and unfair since they had no other place to go outside of the city.

Amos looked at the group of elves planning their new homeworld and said, “You all are doing a great job. It's time we start making this world our home.”

A little while later, both Egeria, Sha're and Michael Jackson arrived at the Control Tower. Amos gathered his entire team in the gateroom then walked over to the intercom and made a general announcement to the entire city.

“All elves, this is your King Amos Fyree. Please stop what you are doing and head to the auditorium in the building south of the Control Tower. I need to make an address," ordered Amos with a sense of regal authority in his voice.

Freyr, who was standing near Amos wondered why he had called a general meeting of the elves. “What do you plan on doing?” asked Freyr.

Amos looked at Freyr and the others, his face filled with wisdom and replied, "Why I'm going to give the elves something to do, of course.”

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

The elves and the crew of the Skidbladnir headed to the large oval-shaped auditorium located in the southern portion of the central section of the city. The auditorium was massive. More than large enough to seat all 30,000 elves. The round chamber boasted several balconies where people from all over the city could hear general announcements and watch special guests perform spectacles. The hall was also quite beautiful to look upon, its columns adorned with white, gold and mahogany, the standard colors for Lantean design. Around its circumference were large glass windows where attendees from every section could look out and see the dazzling skyscrapers scattered around the rest of the city. As the elves took their seats inside of the auditorium, Amos and his team stood before them on the center stage.

“Good morning,” said Amos, his voice magnified by the presence of a hidden Lantean designed microphone. "There must be a voice amplifier here,” he thought, wondering what other Lantean technologies were hidden in this city.

"Good morning, your majesty,” responded a chorus of elven hosts. Egeria and Sha're could not even when they heard the entire hall refer to Amos unanimously as their king and chuckled when they heard the auditorium praise his name.

“A short time ago, I saw a group of elves researching ways to make this world their home. I want to thank them for starting the initiative in building Alfheim our new home. From here on out we will be dividing up into teams. Some will be like the elves who have started building Alfheim. From here on out you will be called Home Elves and be tasked with making Mars a sanctuary for elven life. The rest of you will help us build our Commonwealth. As you should already know from your programming, you were designed to be the servants, or Sabines, of the Lantean Commonwealth. Building and maintaining this Commonwealth is of the utmost importance. Therefore, in the next several hours we will dispatch some of you as Sabines on missions through the Stargate to recruit more worlds into the Lantean Commonwealth. These Elven Sabines will serve as diplomats and emissaries, helping facilitate intercommonwealth communication, trade, and overall unity.

In regards to defense, select groups of elves will also be tasked to defend our homeworld as well as protect the member worlds of the Commonwealth in case a crisis arises. Our navy, those who are specifically trained to fly ships, will be called Command Elves. While our army will be called Peacekeeper Elves and serve as protectors and liberators not colonizers and conquerors. It is my highest wish that the elves do not become like their predecessors the Replicators. Indeed, your job is to defend life not to destroy it.

We have a lot of work ahead of us, so let's get started building the Lantean Commonwealth and Alfheim our new home.

  Thank you.”

When Amos Fyree had finished his fiery words every elf in the auditorium stood to their feet and said in one unified voice:

“By your command your majesty. Your will is our reason for being.”

As soon as they said this, they left the auditorium.

Karlan, moved by Amos's words, walked up to him after the meeting and said, "That was a great speech, and here I thought I was a good leader.”

Freyr, who was also moved by Amos's words, came up to him and congratulated him on yet another victory, “Well done Amos Fyree. You've conquered the replicators and brought their descendants under your dominion. Now we can truly achieve wonders.”

Amos looked at them both and replied, “Thanks. However, it won't be that easy. We have much work to do if we want to make Alfheim and the Commonwealth great. Come, let's go to the conference room, it's time we decide our next steps.

The crew of the Skidbladnir left the auditorium and headed back to the Command tower where they met in the building's conference room. The doors of the conference room automatically opened when they arrived and Amos, followed by Reva, Freya, Freyr, Egeria, Sha're, Karlan as well as Natalie Portman and Michael Jackson, sat down around the room's long Lantean table to discuss what they should do next.

“I think it's time we recruit more worlds,” said Karlan.

“I agree, since we have the Elves we should be able to hit more worlds,” said Sha're.

Amos nodded his head in agreement and said, “You're right. That's why I think it's time we split up into two teams,".

Freyr's eyes opened wide with bewilderment. “Split up? Are you sure that is wise, Amos Fyree?”

“Why of course I do Freyr,”Amos responded. “If we split up now, we can add alot more worlds by the end of the year which is only a couple month away.”

Freyr was reluctant but still nodded his head in tacit agreement.

Amos looked at Freyr again and asked, “Hey Freyr, if memory serves, don't the Asgard already maintain an alliance of human worlds that are protected against the Goa’úld?”.

“You must be talking about the Protective Planet's treaty. Why yes, there are about 27 human worlds that the Asgard shelter and keep safe from Goa’uld aggression, some of them are even technologically sophisticated. They would make welcome additions into our Commonwealth.”

Amos nodded in agreement, “Freyr, I want you to take Karlan, as well as any other elves you wish to take with you, to all the worlds in the Protective Planet's treaty and ask them to join the Lantean Commonwealth.”

Freyr and Karlan quickly agreed and Amos continued to speak.

“Freya and Natalie, since you two are the first elves, I want both of you to start organizing the elves into teams, similar to the ones I announced earlier. When I return I want our current population of elves divided into Home, Sabine, Command, and Peacekeeper Elves. If you need more elves feel free to print them using the Elven printer in the south western pier of the city.”

  “Baby,” said Reva.

  “Yes,” responded Amos.

“It may be possible to create a world of my kind without actually printing them,” Reva explained.

"Really, how so?” wondered Amos, curiosity on his lips.

“Every Lantean warship contains hardware to build a virtual world where they are able to control the entire ship from a digital environment. What if we take that hardware and turn it into a digital world where Elves can be born and go about their purpose without taking up any physical space. Whenever we need more elves we can simply bring them out of digital. It may even be possible to go between the digital and actual worlds in case there are too many elves on Alfheim,” she stated.

Freya, who was sitting right beside her, opened her mouth and added, “I am also well versed in Lantean technology, when you are gone I will start working on creating this new digital environment for our elves.”

“That's brilliant you two,” said Amos. “How about you launch cloaked kinos all over the planet Earth and get schematics for cities, countries, and continents so that our elves can learn about their neighbor and the human race even though they can't visit it yet. Hell, you can even make male elves too for their enjoyment as long as you don't print them.”

“Yes my love,” said Freya, her words filled with enthusiasm.

Amos turned to look at the rest of the people in the room, “While these two groups are doing that, the rest of us will go and recruit two advanced worlds I've already scouted. Euronda and Hebridan. Besides Tollana these two worlds are the most technologically advanced worlds in this galaxy.”

"Why don't you just go to Tollana?” wondered Egeria.

“We are actually waiting on approaching Tollana,” Freyr interjected. "We have reason to believe that the Goa’uld have infiltrated the Tollan government and our presence could trigger a preemptive attack. We have to wait for the right time before we make contact with the Tollan people. Making contact with them unprepared could not only risk their lives but ours as well.”

“Freyr is right,” said Amos. “It's best to get Euronda and Hebridan under our belt before we consider making contact with Tollan. The Tollan government also doesn't fraternize with worlds that are more primitive than they are. With Euronda and Hebridan as well as the Asgard and their Protective Planets on our side, they will look at us as equals and most likely join the Lantean Commonwealth.

Egeria, although understanding the seriousness of Amos and Freyr's warnings, still had doubts about splitting up. Swaying left and right in her chair, the old Tok'ra Queen leaned back with her hands clasped and thumbs fidgeting, and had one more question for Amos before the beginning of this next mission.

“Ampu…” deliberately butchering Amos's name turning it into a sweet and seductive nickname most likely tied to her past.

“Uh.. yes, Egeria.” replied Amos awkwardly.

“So are we taking a Lantean Warship since Freyr will be in the Asgard Science Vessel?” she asked.

"Actually,” Reva interrupted, “I think I have an idea about that, come follow me.”

The group got up and left the conference room and headed down to one of the city's two hangar bays located underneath the city's northern pier.

"What are you going to show us?” wondered Amos as the group arrived at the northern hangar bay.

Reva printed a Kino and crystal disk and prepared to throw the kino in the open section of the hangar. “I've been working on something in secret that I think may answer Queen Egeria's question.” Reva threw the round orb into the large open hangar bay and out of nowhere appeared another Asgard Science Vessel clad in red and gold. “This vessel has six Lantean beam emitters, new gun turrets, as well as newly designed hybrid sensors and shield emitters. Not only that, but I've also added a drone reservoir and a Lantean command chair on the bridge so that now we have an arsenal of drones at our disposal.

"Reva! Once again, you've done it!” yelled Amos, his words filled with excitement.

“You forget I not only have the knowledge of the Ancients inside of me but I also have the Asgard database as well. In the eventuality we would have to separate from Freyr, I designed this ship in order to carry on with our mission.”

Karlan walked around the sides of the ship inspecting it from top to bottom. "Not bad Ms. Reva, not bad at all. So what's this beauty's name?”

“Well actually I haven't named it yet…”said Reva, with a slight sense of shame.

"How about the Samantha Carter?” pitched Amos.

"Samantha Carter, isn't she a member of SG-1 like my doppalganger Daniel Jackson?” Michael stated.

“Yes she is, MJ. In fact the Asgard are currently designing a fleet of warships named in SG-1's honor. Ships named after Jack O'neil and Daniel Jackson are constructed in the future, but they never finished making vessels off of the remainder of the team,” stated Amos.

“Amos is quite right. In fact, my people have already completed the O'neil and are currently working on the Daniel Jackson as our next generation Asgard Science Vessel,”said Freyr proudly.

Amos placed both hands on his hips and looked up at his new ship and said, “This vessel is where we break from the old and make our own destiny.”

“I thought we already did that, Ampu” said Egeria.

Amos laughed hearing Egeria once again use his new nickname, “You're right.”

With the new ship printed and ready to go, the three teams broke off and began their separate missions.
