Welnar throws a punch square to the jaw of the telekinetic sorcerer, causing him to stagger back. The other one steps away in surprise. “The hell man?!” He says.
“You… You haven’t changed at all have you, Welnar?” The telekinetic sorcerer says, chuckling before spitting out a tooth.
“I should be saying the same thing to you bastards!” Welnar yells. “Just because I’m a Sorcerer too now, you think we’re all buddies now?”
“Can’t hold a grudge forever man. That’s old news now… Just let it go.” The other Sorcerer says.
“Could call it… Water under the bridge.” The telekinetic one says with a smirk. It’s only then that Welnar feels the judging gazes of bystanders, having attracted a few people outside the alleyway with his yelling. He grumbles… They’re trying to bait him now. They want him to fight, cause a commotion… With all the people around, they’d no doubt gather the attention of the guards and he’d be arrested.
Welnar clenches his fists, his body shaking. If he can’t beat the crap out of them… He’ll at least leave a lasting impression. Welnar lets his fear aura loose upon the two Sorcerers as he speaks. “Just you wait. I’ll find you two again. I don’t know when… I don’t know how…”
“But when I do. You’ll pay. I swear on it.”
The fear aura, combined with Welnar’s tone being coldly calm, does leave the two rather unnerved. Welnar turns and walks away from the alleyway, pushing his way past the small crowd. He hears some hushed whispers and murmurs as he does…
“Was that the new S grade hunter?”
“What’s his problem?”
“Did they do something?”
They’re largely just confused. But a few seem to recognize Welnar… He didn’t think news would travel THIS far.
Just as Welnar manages to break out of the crowd, he comes face to face with Kali, who had been approaching the crowd herself to see what the commotion was. She sighs. “What did you do?”
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
“I uh… Found the answer to your question, earlier today. Come on, let’s go…” Welnar says. It takes Kali a few moments to connect the dots. “Oh… So, what’d you do?” She asks as they walk away.
“With that kind of crowd? Couldn’t do much.” Welnar chuckles. “But I did punch them once. And I made sure to scare the crap out of them.”
Kali also laughs. “Serves them right.”
“It’s the least they deserve…” Welnar says. The two would occupy themselves by wandering the town, exploring. The place is definitely beautiful, but soon the evening would come, the sun beginning to dip past the horizon. Welnar and Kali make their way to the docks once more, seeing a massive boat with a swarm of people getting off, and more lining up. Welnar and Kali get in line, and slowly but surely once people would stop getting off, the line would move forward. One step at a time… It takes almost half an hour for Welnar and Kali to get on the boat, and once they do a muscular man stops them. “Pay. Twenty-five gold.” Welnar hands over the money… Although he’s starting to run out of funds. The man puts the gold in his pocket. “Weapons. Give em.”
Kali gives her sheathed shortsword reluctantly, but Welnar… “Uh… I can’t give you these.” He gestures to his two scarlet weapons idly floating beside him. The man raises an eyebrow. “Then what ya can do is quit holding up da line and fuck off.” He says. “I-I’m a bounty hunter. Sorcerer, bounty hunter.” Welnar says, deciding to use his ace in the hole… Known as status, as he shows his S grade hunter card. The man looks at it for a few seconds. “Wait here. I will talk with da boss.” He walks up a set of stairs, into the captain’s quarters presumably.
Welnar awkwardly looks behind himself, but is relieved to see only one person behind him. Although… They seem odd. It’s a young looking man, who looks quite well dressed, yet it’s not an outfit Welnar has seen before. It’s like some sort of black coat, with a white shirt underneath and a long black thing around his neck, going down to his stomach. He has mostly black hair, but with a white streak almost like a lightning bolt going through it. The man notices Welnar staring, and takes his hand out of his pocket to give a casual wave, his other hand resting upon the long handle of a strange, almost metal looking bag… It has a set of four small wheels on the bottom.
“Uh, s-sorry.” Welnar says, looking back to the front as the buff man returns. “Okay, get on you two. Cause any trouble and ya go overboard.” He says, sounding a bit unhappy about it. Welnar certainly is though, as he makes his way aboard. In a moment of curiosity, Welnar looks back toward the odd looking man, who casually drops his gold in the muscular man’s palm. When he asks for weapons, the man shakes his head. “Don’t have anything. Just these.” He pulls out a small deck of cards. They’re not playing cards though, it’s something Welnar doesn’t recognize…
“Come on, let’s check out the place.” Kali says, pulling Welnar through a set of doors that lead down inside the boat. He can’t help but feel… Odd, looking at that man. Unnerved, even. His gut tells him there’s something about him but he’s not sure what…
Welnar shakes his head. No point worrying about it. He has bigger problems… Like Kali, who appears to have already found the rooms for guests. She pulls Welnar into one, the room reminding him of a classic inn… Welnar’s brain short circuits as Kali’s lips press against his. “We can’t be taking up two rooms y’know… It’s best if we take one.” She says.
“Uhh… R-right. Sure!” Welnar says, trying to look anywhere but at Kali out of embarrassment.
{“I just woke up from having a little nap. Buuut judging from what I’m seeing, I oughta go back to bed.”} Monarch says, having made herself known in Welnar’s mind for the first time today… Just to abandon him again!
{“I can’t deal with this alone!”} Welnar says.
{“Sure you can! I sure as hell don’t want to be part of this!”} Monarch says.
{“Monarch?”} Silence.
{“Monaaaarch?!”} She’s gone. Sleeping, presumably…
This is a battle Welnar will have to fight alone.
