Chapter 44- Cozy Conclusion

The night before, Cait had barely made it through the door before Lira had her by the wrists, dragging her towards the bedroom. She wrestled away from the pouting redhead long enough to scoop up a yowling Salad, rubbing his belly and kissing his fuzzy head.

“Caiiiiit come ooonnnnn!” she whined, completely unable to move the big blonde. “He has had plenty of cuddles and kisses this week! I have had…. Not as many!”

That caught Cait’s attention, and she cocked an eyebrow at Lira while Salad played with her fingers. Cait hadn’t had the chance to really look at her, but noticed there were a few bandages over her arms, neck and torso.

“What!?” she asked, crossing her arms. “You can’t give a dragon a sexual awakening and expect them to just ignore you!”

Cait just chuckled, shaking her head.

“Did that go better than it looks like it did?” She asked, unable to keep a little mockery out of her voice.

“I mean! No!” Lira whined. “Mama Light didn’t raise no quitter, but without you to take cover behind there were…. Difficulties.”

“I can see that,” Cait grinned. “I feel a little bad for Qi, she just wants some love. Just like you Salad! Yes! Just like you, you fuzzy little slut!”

Salad purred enthusiastically in response to her abuse, using his little paws to pull her hand to his head.

“You’re gonna be getting a new roommate buddy!” she said, scratching behind his ears. “Yes! She’s bigger than you, but I’ll help you assert dominance.”

  “Wait what?”

“Yeah, Kennedy befriended what we’re calling a Cruma. Mix of crow and puma. She’s already named the damn thing and Keeper is giving it a once over right now, but I doubt there’s any chance she doesn’t end up here.”

“Salad’s litterbox is not going to be able to accommodate that.”

“That’s between Rose and Kennedy to figure out, I’m not above kicking a cat if they shit on the couch.” Salad finally tired of being held, squirming and reaching out for the couch. Cait let him down, and Lira resumed pulling on her. She let herself be led to the bedroom this time.

Lira shut the door behind her, and Cait was taken aback by her mood. The playful feisty energy the redhead usually displayed now was absent. Instead, she bit her lip in a way that portrayed vulnerability instead of lust, putting her hands on Cait’s shoulders and pushing until she fell back onto the bed. She crawled up Cait slowly, stopping above her face and letting her fiery hair fall to shut them off from the world.

“Wanna know something fucked up?” She asked.

Before Cait could answer, Lira leaned down to kiss her, soft and deep. The cinnamon spice of her lips had never tasted so sweet. She held the kiss for a long minute, letting it deepen, but not fall to lust.

She met Cait’s eyes as she pulled back.

“I actually missed you while you were gone. Not just… this.” She ran her hand down Cait’s stomach, hooking a finger into her waistband. Cait’s pulse sped up. She fought back her kneejerk response to be flippant, to turn it around on Lira and fuck her until she forgot.

Don’t turn this into a joke, you asshole, you like her too.

She gently brought a hand to the back of Lira’s neck, pulling her down into another kiss, if only to give herself time to think. It was a bad strategy, Lira’s lips were more distracting than gunfire.

Why is it hard for me to tell her I missed her too, that I like her back? Shit, I told Kennedy I liked her and we haven’t done any of this….

Lira’s tongue started to quest into Cait’s mouth, and her hips began to grind against Cait’s crotch. After a few days with no play, Cait was sensitive, and she moaned into Lira’s mouth as her cock moved to attention.

The second Lira tried to move past an awkward situation by using sex as a weapon, Cait knew what the problem was. Lira ground against her, her breath hot and sweet in her mouth. She knew exactly what Cait wanted in sex, and knew how to use it. She was just way too much like Cait.

Cait had seen what happened when people opened their heart to her before they were ready, and the emotional carnage that followed. She might have joked about relationships lasting months at most, but it was more of a personal failing than she let on. And here was Lira, like looking in a feisty, redheaded mirror. Sex motivated, whatever the opposite of jealous was, playful, self sufficient….. a dream, basically, but now that she was in front of Cait the dream took on a tinge of nightmare.

Jess told me relationships are built on trust, and she couldn’t trust me. I think she just didn’t know me. But Lira does, and Jess was right. If anyone’s ever deserved a real chance, it's this girl.

Cait gently pushed back on Lira’s shoulders. The girl let their lips part with a longing groan, slowly opening her eyes to meet Cait’s.

“Hey. Let’s go on a date after this, just you and me. We’ve done a lot of…. this. Let’s see how we work when we do actual couple things, sound good?” Lira’s face split into a wide grin, and she answered with a kiss full of renewed passion. It might not have been the emotionally vulnerable confession of affection she was looking for, but it was a step that way.

Soon, their clothes lay on the floor, and Lira sank herself onto Cait. She looked down at her, more than just lust in her striking green eyes. Cait reached up to her, and Lira entwined her fingers with Cait, letting her take her weight. Then, for the first time, they made slow, sweet, love.

Both of them agreed it probably wouldn’t be something that happened often moving forward, but it was an important step to get out of the way.
