That evening, Chloe couldn't wait to share the good news with her sister.
Although the teacher had reminded her that, according to the production company's requirements, the identities of the main cast must be kept confidential for now and would only be announced together at the official launch event.
But Chloe still secretly told her sister. She couldn't help but share this wonderful news with her sister immediately.
Not daring to say it over video, she could only secretly send a text message. Reading her sister's message, Grace felt she could almost see her younger sister's thrilled and excited little face through the words.
"What are you smiling about?" Scarlett asked, pushing the door open just as she saw Grace smiling fondly at her phone.
Grace smiled and shook her head. "Nothing. Why are you back so fast today?"
Scarlett went running on the sports field every night. The duration depended on her calorie intake for the day, but it was usually not less than an hour.
"My new shoes are rubbing a bit. I came back to change." As she spoke, she casually tossed something to Grace. "A guy downstairs asked me to pass this to you."
"Ah?" Grace was startled, instinctively catching it.
Scarlett laughed. "Don't worry, it's not Eric. Just an ordinary guy."
Grace looked at the sealed packet in her hand, baffled. She gently weighed it; the contents made a rustling sound.
Not knowing who it was from or what it was, Grace simply opened it.
Peering inside, she saw it was a pack of black goji berries.
Grace was even more confused, completely unaware who would send her a pack of black goji berries for no reason.
Scarlett saw it and laughed too. "Good stuff!"
Grace looked at the plain, unlabeled silver sealed bag and asked, "There's nothing on it. Would you dare eat it?"
"Someone gave it to you; I'm not eating it." Scarlett, having already changed her shoes, waved at Grace and went out again.
Grace closed the bag and casually placed the black goji berries into the cabinet by her feet.
The next day, she found out who had sent them.
In the university canteen, Grace and Scarlett had just gotten their food and sat down when a cup of milk tea appeared beside Grace's hand.
She turned her head in surprise and saw a boy in a grey T-shirt looking at her with a shy, timid expression.
Yes, Grace saw 'shyness' on a boy's face—the kind of gaze that wants to look directly at you but keeps darting away.
The boy wore khaki shorts with some noticeable stains, either not properly washed or impossible to remove.
His hair was medium-length and greasy, partly flat against his scalp and partly standing up irregularly, all covered in dandruff.
Before Grace could even speak, he turned and ran away.

People around couldn't help but smother laughs. The scene was just too incongruous. Didn't he consider washing his hair before trying to pursue Grace?
Scarlett's expression was even more exaggerated than Grace's. She looked at Grace with a mix of disgust and shock, her eyes wide. "Honey, that's Rock who gave you the black goji berries last night!"
Then she quickly explained to clear herself. "But it was a bit dark last night. I really didn't see him looking like this. I just thought he looked ordinary, didn't notice anything else."
The milk tea on the table was still warm. Scarlett picked it up and threw it directly into the nearby trash bin. "Don't drink this. And throw away that pack of black goji berries too. It feels a bit gross thinking about it now."
Coming back to her senses, Grace looked at Scarlett perplexed. "I don't know him!"
Scarlett wasn't too surprised. "The news of your breakup with Eric is probably known by many now. Before, people didn't dare show any interest because you were with Eric. It's not surprising that admirers are emerging now. It's just that today's candidate is a bit too... ridiculous."
It wasn't even a case of a toad lusting after a swan's flesh.
At least a toad knows to jump into the water to wash itself.
Instead, Grace felt a bit apprehensive. The thought of being targeted by someone like this was somewhat frightening.
"Grace, his name is Rock," a girl from the next table suddenly leaned over and whispered. "He's my classmate. He's from Veyra Peak originally."
Scarlett quickly asked, "Classmate, which department are you in? Has he always been like this? I mean, his appearance..."
The girl nodded. "I'm in the Math department. It seems like he hasn't really washed his hair since enrollment. His clothes are always dirty too. But his family situation isn't great, so we never said much. It's just that no one wants to get too close to him."
Then she pointed to her own head. "Our classmates think he's sometimes not quite right in the head. But his grades are really good. Anyway, Grace, just ignore him."
After hearing this classmate's description, Grace felt even more uneasy.
Scarlett also thought the guy's actions were too abrupt. Even if he wasn't quite right in the head, why would he randomly give a girl black goji berries and buy her milk tea?
If it were for someone else, maybe, but Grace? He couldn't seriously think he was a match for Grace, could he?
"Let's eat first." Grace calmed her feelings a little, thinking that if the other party made any further moves, she would have a talk with him.
Two days later, the production team notified Chloe to come for a costume and makeup test.
The address was Mr Jones's company, "Golden Joe Media".
When Chloe arrived, the place was chaotic. A large number of actors waiting for their makeup tests were gathered in the corridor outside the makeup rooms.
Vivian, who had no classes today, had accompanied Chloe. Seeing such a scene for the first time, she widened her eyes. "Oh my god, with so many people, how long will we have to wait?"
Chloe also didn't expect so many actors for the makeup test today. She felt a bit embarrassed and said to Vivian, "Vivian, maybe you should go back first. I'll wait here by myself. It'll probably take ages."
"Since I'm already here, and I might even see a big star, I'll wait with you," Vivian said, not minding at all.
Just then, Cynthia emerged from behind, also accompanied by a classmate.
She looked Chloe up and down disdainfully and chuckled lightly. "The fourth young miss in the original story was born of a concubine; her daily attire was shabby. As her maid, do you even need a makeup test? Going bare-faced would be closer to the character!"
Her opening remark was dripping with sarcasm. Chloe's face unconsciously darkened.
Seeing that Chloe didn't respond, Cynthia curled her lip dismissively and pulled her classmate forward, pushing through the crowd.
"What a petty person getting a boost, ugh!" Vivian spat in the direction of her retreating.
Chloe asked, puzzled, "I don't even know her. Why does she target me?"
"Jealousy, pure and simple," Vivian said. "People like her, born thinking they're extraordinary, get jealous when they see someone better than them. Just ignore her."
"Chloe! Is Chloe here?" A staff member came out holding a folder, calling out while scanning the crowd.
Chloe quickly raised her hand. "I'm here!"
"You, go into Makeup Room A. Find Lily for your makeup test."
Chloe nodded. Then the staff member continued, "Zinnia, Cynthia, Yvonne..." He read out more than ten names in one breath, then pointed to the innermost room. "You guys, go line up in that room!"
Upon hearing this, Cynthia's eyes widened abruptly. Why could Chloe get her makeup test right away, while she had to line up in a room with over a dozen others?
