Chapter 110: Zirnitra

Zyrus didn’t start with the awakening right away. Before that, he had a few things to consider after reaching the first ring. There were some things he could only do on earth afterall.

‘First and most important of it all, my skills.’

Compared to at the start of tutorial, his combat style had been monotonous as of late. He didn’t use vector throw as much since his current combat style wasn’t suited for it. Take the fight against Camazotz for example; he needed range to make good use of Vector throw whereas his barrier type authorities didn’t allow him to run around.

The same was true for Spear aura since well, he didn’t have a spear. He could use his fists to make up for it, but it just wasn’t the same. If he wanted to evolve the skill in the direction he wanted to then there was no choice but to wait until the bloodspine spear had done evolving. Using the skill in other manner would only be counterproductive since there was a chance that it might be upgraded into something else entirely.

Franken got bored after seeing Zyrus mull over at the side. He walked to the gigantic cocoons and watched over the process of their evolution.

“I’m sure you’re thinking about something important, but I doubt you have much time.”

“…I know,” Zyrus replied with a shrug. Pursuing perfection was difficult to say the least. He had a lot of skills and authorities, which was a good thing. To transform them into their best form was something he had to accomplish if he wanted to make them more than just ‘good’ tools.

‘I planned to do that during the break, but things got even more complicated.’

Indeed, Zyrus had failed to find a breakthrough regarding his skills. He was working on his laws and concepts to perhaps integrate them into the skills he had, but what he figured out was something unexpected: A direction to create another of the 13 curses of Void.

Zyrus sat cross-legged and thought over all of the ideas he had. He planned to create the new curse against his fight with the Glemorax king. While it would add one more authority to master, it was a problem he was happy to have.

Minutes passed by while the duo sat in silence. Finally, Zyrus opened his eyes from contemplation and walked towards the cocoons. The amargs who were undergoing their transformation had nearly occupied the entire warehouse.

Zyrus didn’t waste any time and put his claws forward. Hundreds of streams of abyssal mana flowed out from his fingers. Thanks to Oroszlan’s journal he was no longer a novice when it came to summoning magic.

“The boundary of this world is too thin,” Franken stated as he looked at the abyssal mana that was flowing through Zyrus’s hand. Rather than flowing, it would be more accurate to say that the abyssal mana was pouring into this world through Zyrus’s finger.

“Perhaps it is the sanctuary that’s too sturdy.”

“It has to be. Otherwise, wouldn’t someone like you just flood the entire ring with foreign mana?”

As ridiculous as it might sound, it was indeed a possibility. If he had enough time then Zyrus could easily terraform the current earth. Even at this moment he felt like he could shatter the mountain if he wasn’t careful.

The world which was his true home looked too fragile in his eyes. Like a withered tree at the end of its lifespan, the current earth was in the final moments of its existence.

“Even if I were at my peak, I couldn’t save this planet.”

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

It was a grim truth that was hard to swallow for someone as prideful as Zyrus. The duo didn’t speak anything else and focused their efforts on awakening his legion.

Zyrus poured all of his anger and sadness into the beating cocoons. He could feel the changes on earth more clearly with his increased strength, and it enraged him all the more.

  *Tremble*

Even the stable warehouse started to tremble under his mana and willpower. With final strands of his powers seeping out, Zyrus whispered as he terminated the flowing abyssal mana,

“In this dead world abandoned by all, may you become the last vestiges of its creation.”

  *Crrrrak*

  *SHatttter*

Perhaps his heartfelt words were heard by the lingering will of the earth. The 500 amargs had finished their evolution, and the result was far from his expectations.

“ “We greet the lord who has reforged our existence” ”

One after another the gigantic creatures bowed towards Zyrus. While only one of them was able to speak, Zyrus could feel their voice echoing through his connection with them.

Due to the different factors involved they were fundamentally different from the Abyssal warriors who evolved from the ophidian warriors. His bloodline and the power of abyss had achieved a greater degree of fusion.

Kneeling in front of Zyrus was a legion of drakes led by a true wyvern.

Before their evolution the amargs were nearly 30 feet long. They had a rhinoceros-like midsection with a long neck and tail which were 10 feet long. Their most remarkable trait was the reddish-white spikes that jutted out from their spines.

Now, however, none of these previous traits remained on the abyssal drakes. Their size didn’t change by much, but the amargs' bulky legs and thin necks were replaced by taut muscles. Pitch-black scales replaced their tough hide, and in place of their spikes were razor-sharp blades of crimson mana.

Zyrus was pleasantly surprised by the results. Their spinal blades looked like the edge of a spear, most likely influenced by his skills. Further analysis had to be done after observing them in battle, but still, he was sure that they were much stronger than before.

“Rise, I look forward to your performance.”

  “We won’t disappoint you.”

Zyrus nodded at the confident wyvern and continued,

“Did you awaken any memories or inheritance?”

It wasn’t a random question as he could see traces of wisdom and confusion in the wyvern’s eyes.

“…I’m not too sure about that. Though I can feel something strange in my mind…”

  “I see.”

Zyrus wasn’t disappointed at his answer. Even without any innate skills the wyvern in front of him was as strong as Camazotz. He had wings that spanned across 50 feet, and although they were connected to his arms just like a bat, the sturdiness of his wings was incomparable to Camazotz.

The Wyverns were born to be predators in the skies.

What caught Zyrus's eyes were the claws and pair of curved horns on the wyvern's head. Unlike his pitch-black scales they were white like cotton. Even Zyrus wasn’t sure about where such contrasting traits came from.

‘Well, I’ll know in the battle anyway,’

He reined in his curiosity and started thinking about a name. Giving the wyvern a name was the fastest way to increase his strength.

No one except Zyrus knew how strong Elsid was at this moment. He had intentionally concealed the abyssal knight’s intelligence and skills in order to catch his enemies off guard.

Just in terms of strength alone, Elsid could easily wipe out half of Zyrus’s current fleet.

“Are you going to give him a name?”

  “Indeed,”

Franken observed the wyvern with a thoughtful gaze. From its posture, it looked like an elder was looking at a newborn child. While it looked comical with their size difference, it wasn’t surprising as even Zyrus himself was much younger than Franken.

“He has some traits of a ‘Guardian’.”

“A guardian…” Zyrus recalled the term as he looked at the wyvern’s white horns and claws. A name immediately popped up in his head at this juncture.

A Black dragon who was known as the patron and guardian of sorcery. He couldn't think of a more fitting name.

“From this day forth, you shall be known as Zirnitra.”

A black pillar of light manifested in the next instance. It used Zyrus’s source of origin as an anvil and his bloodline as a hammer. The wyvern’s, or rather, Zirnitra’s evolution was perfected with this last step.
