I will show them that giving a Silver Torrent a lot of freedom will not end well. The first assignment says ‘survive’ for 30 minutes. If I beat them up in 5 minutes, I have ‘survived’.

  The second assignment is so full of holes it’s not even funny. Giana will be my ‘president’ she can’t attack anyway, and I will take Noelle as my C-rank adventurer or lower. A reenactment of the spirit stalker incident, and I won’t make mistakes this time.

  There is a slight chance that they want S-rank Silver Torrent’s to also deal damage, as it seems a Silver Torrent could reach A-rank without dealing damage. Knocking people out also counts as cc, right? You can’t move if you’re knocked out!

  Daddy’s girl was making a fool out of herself, and I was loving it. I hummed the tune of Giana’s song while waiting to see what would happen if I stayed here.

  I got up and walked out. Cheers met me, and Daddy’s girl was standing in the middle of the arena with Giana.

  “And here he is! Now…”

  I have a question, these assignments are quite dangerous.

  She pointed at some guy who smacked the near invisible barrier. It was leagues ahead of the shitty barriers that had been here before.

  The sign went off. [Tail Dynamo] activated and the [Accel Steps] went out. The Toxic Donkey attempted to [Shadow Bind] me, but bright lightning flashes made it ineffective. The S-rank adventurers hadn’t expected me to come right at them.

  I made some flashy flips while sending [Lightning Blades] out at every evade, pressuring anyone who attempted to get near. Daddy’s girl did the same as Shelly and created an army of lightning warriors, all with their bullshit weapons.

  One was holding a strange junkshooter. Surely it won’t…

  A laser almost caught me.

  You gotta be kidding me, this guy is going down.

  A juggernaut was rushing at me. Is being this big and fast legal? A dangerous looking punch flew at me and my 2nd tail blocked it.

  Heh, nice try.

  I flipped over him and zapped him. It didn’t do much damage though. That was purple lightning…

  So one of these S-rank adventurers was flinging high level fire magic at me. It seems I will only be fighting 4 opponents.

  The big guy got trapped in a [Lightning Cage] as getting caught offguard by him will hurt like hell. Although…

  A tail picked him up, lifted him and threw him at Daddy’s girl.

  He screamed funny as the fire adventurer and Daddy’s girl dove away. The Toxic Donkey applied some poison on his dagger and my 9th tail vetoed it by sending a [Water Blast] at his face and washing the poison off and possibly launching him.

  Someone else was sneaking around in stealth, and the ground started acting strange. My attempt at using [Electric Field] got countered as the ground slowly turned into mud.

  Ugh, I’m not a big fan of earth users…

  It was time for the [Lightning Umbrellas] as the ground was unsafe, who knows, maybe they will turn it into sand. Absolutely unacceptable!

  Nilah, they want to play stupid games, how about you show them how we reward those!

  I hung from the [Lightning Umbrella] and started chucking copies of Nilah’s sword, which exploded in red lightning.

  [Tail Dynamo] was still active so I looked like a strange fan and caused the umbrella to ascend faster.

  The invisible adventurer appeared. Shadow magic and earth magic? That’s a strange combo. Is the mud here to counter my water magic? But…

  I scanned the area. It had no water. It would be foolish of them if they did. A [Tsunami] says bye bye to all their plans, and they probably don’t want to deal with that. Daddy’s girl was the only one who could hit me from this range, but I just redirected the lightning.

  Haha! So long suckers! Don’t tell me that none of you can fly!

  The lightning shifted to orange, and the adventurers didn’t seem to like that.

  The fire guy isn’t a threat to me as he also started chucking lightning at me which got redirected. Earth users like to stay on the ground. The juggernaut… where is he?

  I swapped with another umbrella as this would probably be the moment that I would get ambushed and lo and behold! The juggernaut crashed into the lightning umbrella I swapped with and got zapped.

  I’m sorry bud, these also do damage.

  I chucked more Nilah clones at him and shot him out of the air.

  Hehe might rename yourself to meteorite!

  A loud crash threw up a wave of mud as he hit the ground. It hit everyone but me. This mud is a problem, though.

  More Nilah clones got chucked down, but with the intention to freeze the mud. Frozen mud is just ground and [Frozen ground] can be used on it but… I need to be touching the floor for that… I feel that going down is a mistake. The lightning warriors had never stopped decreasing. The fire dude had also helped out. An army was waiting for me on the floor. The next assignment is going to be wild.

  Wild…I wonder what Wild Fang is up to. I haven’t heard of him in a long time, and he was also eligible for S-rank if I remembered correctly.

  I flipped myself and the umbrella upside down, causing it to block the [Lightning Arrows] the lightning warriors were shooting at me.

  Do I go [Silver Torrent] or do I drop a [God of Thunder] on them? Would a [God of Thunder] even work? They’re S-rank. They probably will be fine.

  I swapped with Daddy’s girl, causing all the lightning warriors to target me, and I swapped Daddy’s girl back.

  The juggernaut and mud guy instantly put up solid defenses protecting Daddy’s girl from a stupid amount of lightning attacks. Seems I was right, although…

  Mudguy got swapped out this time and I then took the place of juggernaut and swapped back to my umbrella, causing both to get targeted.

  While they were busy dealing with that.

  Let’s see if I can make a better [Lightning Staff Throw] than I did in Mishaspire. Although… it needs a cooler name.

  The barrier glowed strangely and applied its effect. Does this mean I killed someone? But this Dimsha protects them, right? I readied another [Black Halani] but it failed as my tails reversed their spin.

  The S rank adventurers were too busy doing damage control as charge was jumping between the warriors and hitting them too.

  The audience gasped as my tails were sucking in mana, and it had become visible to everyone.

  Hey you guys down there! Better be prepared, this is going to be a big one!

  The lightning surrounding me dropped from black to blue before jumping to silver, causing a mana explosion.

  The barrier activated again and I floated down. I had entered [Silver Torrent] so I didn’t need to evade. The lightning warriors got drowned out by my silver lightning and I isolated the adventurers in islands with no lightning, practically containing them.

  So how much longer till the 30 minutes are over?

  “So this is what I saw that day!”

  Thinking of it, Daddy’s girl was one of the first people to see this together with Toxic Donkey and Thalia.

  I guess so.

  The S-rank adventurers took their loss well. It seems Daddy’s girl had briefed them properly and didn’t leave out that they would be fighting a mythical beast.

  “So is this your ehh mythical ability?” The juggernaut asked, putting his hand in the silver torrent and getting one shot after which the barrier brought him back. “Whoa, the damage on this is insane!”

  Well…technically it’s possible to do this as a different race, but you will need to find a way to gather enough lightning mana to jump to silver, you also need understanding of water and lightning Dragonvein, then study magic runes and magic circles to convert the Dragonvein version into magic, and then you can use this! But the short answer is ‘no’.

  “I’m sorry, I don’t know what that all means, but it seems that we don’t have to be afraid of someone else running around with this.”

  I thought about it. Giana might have the knowledge to use this, but she’s too slow. I could tutor Yv, but she doesn’t have a lightning affinity and Raishin would never be able to understand this to use it, so he might be right.

  “What about your girlfriend over there?” He said as he pointed at Giana in the audience. “Whoa she looks smitten. I think you’re getting lucky tonight.”

  She can separate her idol self from her personal self, she would do the same if you knew her well enough. Anyways I passed right?

  “Yeah…the S-rank is supposed to be rough for those taking it, not for the proctors… I’m not looking forward to the next one…at least you’re not a malicious mythical beast.” The juggernaut sighed.

  It sounds like you had one before.

  “Not S-rank and he’s still active. Do you know the Under Dog?”

  Never heard of him.

  “Well that’s not important right now. I need time to mentally prepare for the next assignment. You're not… you're not going to use this again, right?” Juggernaut said as he again put his hand in the silver torrent and got one shot. “Yup, I don’t wanna deal with that!”

  Did you really need to get one shot by it twice to find out? But I don’t think I will use it again.

  I canceled my [Silver Torrent] and the adventurers were free. Strangely enough, I wasn’t hungry. Did I eliminate the downsides of it? Surely not that easily, right?

  We got some time to rest. Probably more for them than me as I was fine.

  My teammates for the next assignment came in the preparation room.

  “Deca, that was wonderful!” Giana had changed into ‘battle wear’ and ‘ran’ at me.

  Noelle… what is she wearing?

  “Did you hear something, Giana?” Noelle said as she cupped her wolf ears.

  Big sis…what is Deca wearing…

  “Ah! Well, it’s battle gear! It’s to capture your heart, it seems. She’s fighting a different battle than you are.”

  Giana was wearing a short halter dress but a bit more idol themed and…sexy.

  “I love that look on your face, Deca, it speaks louder than any word you could say. What’s the plan?”

  We’ll see how loud you get tonight. As for the plan. How many [Foxfire: Meteors] can you guys protect against?

  I drew my sword and had her turn into her fox form. She jumped at Giana.

  The big question is. Does Nilah like Giana because she got mana from her or because she finally was seen as worthy?

  Nilah jumped into my arms and I petted her.

  Try your best to not kill everyone. But make sure to steal as much mana as you can. I will give you some spirit salmon snacks if you do.

  Nilah got excited and motivated. Treats and cuddles are the only things that motivate her.

  It was time for Nilah to shine. The 3 of us were facing off against 30 adventurers.

  Daddy’s girl walked out of the crowd. “What’s up?”

  Giana isn’t allowed to attack, right? So she can cast defensive skills, I assume.

  “You…the rules did say that the one that gets protected isn’t allowed to attack…I need to rewrite these rules…”

  Daddy’s girl shook her head as she walked back.

  Ok so you two use your fortress skills and chill inside. Nilah will rampage, and I will snipe some adventurers with my frostbow.

  “Is that really allowed? Aren’t you supposed to protect me?”

  While that’s true, you are allowed to use defensive skills and I have to make sure they can’t get to you. They won't get close, but I want to shoot from a fortress…

  “Giana… he doesn’t want it for the defense, he wants it because it’s cool…”

  “Oh, sure!”

  Our easy assignment started, and a stomp shook the area while a song went out. [Crystal Fortress] and [Water Fortress] overlapped and created an impregnable defense. Not that it mattered.

  I looked down on the fools who thought they could challenge us and unleashed Nilah. She grew in size and used [Eternal Winter]. I was ready to shoot my bow, but everyone was frozen.

  Hey Nilah! You’re spoiling my fun! Ease up on that! Use ice and not frost! Use something else to steal mana!

  Nilah disobeyed, and I sat down and looked on how Nilah was going past the frozen adventurers and checked which one would make the best chewtoy. Maybe I should get one for her. People aren’t chewtoys.

  Giana and Noelle climbed the fortresses and sat down next to me.

  “I had expected something more…spectacular.”

  Nilah is so disobedient… she ruined my fun…

  Nilah stole mana for 30 minutes while testing chewtoys. She had settled for the Juggernaut chewtoy. Poor guy. At least, he has no idea what goes on in his frozen state.

  Greg seemed to lecture a large group of the audience. I focused my ears to hear what he was saying. Something about making difficult situations look easy is part of my role description. He’s not wrong, but I also want to have fun doing it.

  It was extremely anticlimactic, but I passed the test. I had to force Nilah into her sword form to make her stop using juggernaut as a chewtoy.

  The adventurers, who were excited to fight the Silver Torrent were disheartened. Not sure what they were expecting. There was a big chance they wouldn’t be able to do anything.

  They were all covered in blankets and got something hot to drink as Nilah had been mean and also mixed in some regular ice.

  I tuned out for the rest of the procedures, and we finally got released. All I know was that Yv had passed and was now C-rank.

  Raishin wanted to celebrate by going to a restaurant, but Giana and Yv had different plans.

  “You can go without us. Deca, Yv and I have…different plans.” Giana grabbed my hand and gently pulled me along.

  Ooh have fun! Let’s go on a date, Noelle!

  “Sure!”

  The ladies started to undress the moment the door closed.

  Give me a second. I need to put up a soundproof barrier. I couldn’t go all out earlier, so I will make sure to go all out on you two.
