Agnis and Giana got led to the biggest ‘hat' and got met with an enormous fairy.
The fairy pointed and danced. “This is our queen! She is just finishing her lunch!”
Giana grabbed Agnis' arm and started to shake.
“Deca… she's eating spirits!”
“Ooh you two smell delicious.” The fairy Queen turned around from her meal, gulped up the last bit of a medium spirit and charged at them. She easily broke through Agnis' [Frost Wall] and grabbed both of them. Everything happened too fast and too suddenly for Giana.
Fairies eating spirits… can't say that I saw that coming…
“Deca, how can you be so calm?! This was a trap!”
Giana tried her best to escape the grab, but nothing worked.
“Its time for dessert!” The fairy queen transformed into a grotesque 2-headed worm with rows of sharp teeth. Eyes were glaring out of her mouth, and a deafening buzzing sound filled the cavern as all the fairies transformed into their true form.
Tentacles held the 2 above the queen's gaping mouth.
Hey fairy Queen. Any chance you could give us the fairy dust and let us go?
“Deca?! Please just teleport us out!”
Giana… were on a dimensional island… were stuck… unless we can make a bridge but… I can't… Can you?
“Wait… we're stuck? We're going to get eaten? You must have a plan, right? You always do!”
Foxfire and frost magic got flung at the fairy queen. Giana cast as many barriers as she could but her focus wasn't where she wanted it to be. The sheer amount of fairies had an easy time breaking through all her barriers.
“Giana focus. You can do this!” Giana said, encouraging herself and started to sing. The fairies increased their buzzing, drowning out her song.
She tried to communicate with Agnis, but he was unable to hear her. He seemed to be talking to the fairy queen.
The fairy queen put Giana down and got ready to consume Agnis.
Tears rolled from her eyes as she went 9t mode. She tried everything, but the fairies seemed immune to anything she did.
The noise made her songs ineffective and the barriers got broken easily as countless fairies were attacking and breaking them in no time. Fairies tried to bite into her, but it was ineffective as she was impervious to their attacks, but that wasn't what she was worried about.
She could only watch how Agnis was getting eaten alive.

It was difficult for her to fold space and warp in this isolated patch of dimensional fabric. It made her queasy and unable to focus. She had to physically move over to him.
She cursed her low movement speed as every second counted. The fairies decided to leave Agnis alive to continue snacking on him later.
Giana reached a head on a torso. All Agnis’ limbs had been eaten off, and he was covered with bite marks.
The realization set in. Giana remembered the bite marks from her first meeting with Agnis.
The fairies ignored her as they were unable to eat her. She healed Agnis but realized her mistake. Agnis, who had his limbs back, became yet again a target for the fairies. The sheer number of them managed to rip her off Agnis and recommenced their feeding frenzy.
Nothing Giana could do had a lasting effect, and her low movement speed made it difficult to return to Agnis on time. The fairies tossed her around easily.
Agnis had been unconscious since the first feeding frenzy, so Giana was alone, which triggered her fear.
The heartbreaking scene of Giana trying to protect Agnis from getting eaten alive, replayed for a whole month. She had nearly exhausted all her options. She held on to [Grand Sacrifice] as a 3 hit barrier won't protect her from a swarm and nobody would be able to protect him if she died there.
She had resorted to the only thing she knew that worked. She hugged him closely so that there was less for the fairies to eat. She had stopped healing him as that would attract the fairies as they were always hungry.
Her kit had been invalidated by the sheer number of enemies around her and healing magic being counterproductive.
“Why don't you take me, you cowards! Leave him alone! Just… take me…”
Giana’s tears had dried up and nobody responded or listened to her plea.
Agnis groaned and a light appeared in Giana’s eyes.
“Deca! I’m so sorry… I'm so useless…”
Tears that should have dried up, started to flow again.
No, I'm sorry. I got selfish and gave up. This isn't fair to you. How about we try to get out of this and go out with a bang if we can't?
Giana wiped her tears and nodded. Agnis wanted to go in for a hug, but his arms had been eaten so he fell over.
“Silly Deca, let me help you up.”
Giana helped him up, fed him and slapped curious fairies away with her tail.
“Back off! His limbs haven't regenerated yet!”
The fairies had developed a feeding schedule, so it was easy for Giana to get them to leave.
“Deca, they will be back in 2 hours. Let's rest for an hour. I will then use [Grand Sacrifice]. They have learned that they can't damage me, so I will be fine.” She stroked Agnis face and continued feeding him.
Tha…
“Shh, don't thank me. Just rest.”
An hour passed, and a light blue light lit up the cave. A fully recovered Agnis Hourai started throwing lightning and swords and mowing down fairies.
Giana was supporting by spreading jellyfish. The jellyfish got zapped by Agnis' lightning and discharged it at spots he had missed.
Giana was weary and a mess, but she had passed the test.
