[Section I: Vocabulary of the Shallows]
The Shallows: The uppermost "shelf" of the Great Below. It is a transition zone of absolute sensory deprivation. There is no wind, no scent, and no sound. It is designed to act as a buffer to "cleanse" the immediate psychic trauma of a violent death before the soul is processed.
Grey Silt: This is not physical dirt or dust. It is the literal manifestation of forgotten memories and discarded scripts that settles on the floor of reality. It is soft and sound-dampening, ensuring that the silence of the Shallows remains absolute.
Violet Light: The specific hue emitted by the Collector’s lantern. Unlike the "Orange Ghosts" of the living world, this light does not reveal; it "scans." It reacts to the heat of a soul’s intent, turning brighter when it encounters someone who refuses to follow the script.
The Basement: A colloquial term used by Underworld entities to refer to the deeper layers of labor and judgment. To "belong to the Basement" means your soul has been flagged for active processing rather than passive rest.

[Section II: Character Encyclopedia]
The Collector (The Masked Guide):
Role: An administrative "Janitor" of the Underworld. His job is to sweep the Shallows and ensure souls are moved to their respective sectors.
Appearance: He wears robes woven from "Soot" and a porcelain mask with a permanent smirk—a mocking reflection of the "Clown" mask Zany wore in life.
Mythic Connection: The Collector represents the Psychopomp (Soul-Guide) found in almost every real-world culture. While he isn't a high-ranking god like Yama or Anubis, he operates under their authority. He is the one who "notices" when a soul makes a noise in the void.
The Protected (Leo):
Status: Sleeping.
Profile: Because of Zany’s "Trade," Leo has been granted a temporary state of "Translucent Calm." He is free from the pain of his addiction and the trauma of the accident, resting in the Shallows while the "Debt" of his life is calculated by the unseen hands of the system.
[Section III: Geographic Archive]
The Inverted Ocean: The sky of the Underworld. It consists of grey embers and floating, petrified shards of the living world. It serves as a reminder that everything built in the "Above" eventually breaks and falls into the "Below."
