Chapter 14: Fighting Also Has Points

Chapter 14: Fighting Also Has Points

There was no way to avoid it, but fortunately, it was the weekend, and there were a lot of people around. Since it was on campus, Zhang Yang didn’t run. Instead, he calmly said to Xu Danlu, “Stay out of this. They’re after me.”

“How could I? You got into this mess because you were helping me.”

Zhang Yang had thought Xu Danlu would take the chance to leave, but instead, she stubbornly stood beside him, looking like she was ready to protect him.

Zhang Yang was speechless and quickly raised his hands in surrender. “Okay, if you really want to help me, go back to my dorm and tell Zhou Wei. He’ll find someone to help.”

“But… if I go, can you fight them off alone?”

“With you here, I’ll have an even harder time. Go get reinforcements while there’s still time.” Zhang Yang glanced at her alluring figure and thought, Lady, if you don’t leave, these thugs might eat you alive.

Hearing that, Xu Danlu nodded quickly. “I’ll go right now…”

Saying so, she really did turn around and run straight toward Lake Building Four.

The seven or eight thugs saw the delicate beauty running off, and one in a plaid shirt panicked. He quickened his pace toward Zhang Yang, planning to go around him and chase after Xu Danlu.

But as he lowered his head, he bumped straight into Zhang Yang.

“Hey punk, you blind or what?” Zhang Yang suddenly barked angrily, startling the thug into taking two steps back. Though he was a thug, Zhang Yang’s height of 1.81 meters still gave off some pressure.

The thug froze for a moment. Wait a second—wasn’t that what he was supposed to say?

He quickly snapped out of it as Ah Gou’s group caught up, and with confidence restored, he flipped Zhang Yang the middle finger. “Fuck you, you looking to die, asshole?”

  His mouth spewed filth nonstop.

But before he could finish, Zhang Yang kicked him hard in the chest, sending him falling to the ground in pain. By the time he got up, Zhang Yang had already run off.

“Fuck!” The mohawked Ah Gou stomped his foot in anger as he watched Zhang Yang run off. According to Bai Liangfeng’s orders, they were supposed to drag Zhang Yang off campus or to some hidden spot for a good beating. But this bastard actually knew they were coming and struck first.

“Chase him, what the hell are you standing around for!” Ah Gou kicked the plaid guy’s ass and took the lead in pursuit. If Zhang Yang escaped today, their reputation would be done for.

Then came a strange sight: Zhang Yang ran in front, and Ah Gou’s group of seven or eight thugs chased right behind, shouting and threatening him to stop.

Zhang Yang wasn’t stupid enough to listen. He ran with all his might, circling around Peony Lake once before heading toward the South Gate with the tailing thugs close behind.

Ah Gou realized something was off and ordered his men to stop. Hands on his knees, panting heavily, he yelled at Zhang Yang’s back, “Fuck, what are you running for, huh? Got the balls, don’t run!”

Zhang Yang turned to look—they were about twenty meters apart, a safe distance for him. He stopped on purpose. He couldn’t fight, but he had run in track events before, and tiring these punks out was easy work.

The seven or eight of them were all panting heavily, while Zhang Yang stood there smiling. “What’s wrong, Ah Gou? Didn’t have breakfast?” he teased.

Ah Gou was fuming. “You… bastard! Just wait! You can’t hide forever. Don’t you work at Qingyuan Hotel? I’ll go smash the place right now!”

Damn, what a freak. Can’t beat someone, so you go after their workplace? What the hell…

Zhang Yang’s brow twitched. Though Gao Qi was also involved, Bai Liangfeng surely didn’t know that. Now Gao Qi was clearly getting dragged into trouble.

He sneered. “You idiots, that’s all you’ve got? Oh right, where’s that scumbag Bai Liangfeng? Too scared to come face me himself?”

“What scumbag? Don’t know what you’re talking about. Be smart and come outside with us for a talk.” Ah Gou caught his breath and threatened, “Unless you plan to never leave campus again.”

By now, people around had noticed the scene. Many began gathering around, most of their gazes falling on Ah Gou’s group—their flashy outfits made them stand out. Some students even took out their phones.

One of the thugs beside Ah Gou saw the growing crowd and nudged him nervously in warning.

Ah Gou noticed too. With the crowd getting bigger and the situation turning bad, he spat out a few curses and ran off.

Even after they left, Zhang Yang didn’t relax. His mood only grew heavier. As Ah Gou had said, unless he stayed within campus, they could just wait by the gates for a few days, and he’d have to face them eventually.

Once the crowd dispersed, Xu Danlu returned with Zhou Wei.

Zhang Yang’s eyes widened. These two were unbelievable. He hadn’t wanted Xu Danlu to get dragged into trouble, and now she brought Zhou Wei along? Were they here to save him—or collect his body?

But one look at Zhou Wei’s face and he understood. The guy had clearly been dragged along against his will. Sweat dripped down his forehead like a condemned man on his way to the gallows.

Still, when Zhou Wei saw Zhang Yang standing unharmed, he quickly perked up, broke free from Xu Danlu’s grip, ran up to Zhang Yang, patted him on the shoulder, and looked around. “Bro, I’m here. Where are those punks? Which bastard dared touch my brother…”

“Damn, did you even wash your hands?” Zhang Yang said with a wry smile, glancing between him and the anxious Xu Danlu. Clearly, Xu Danlu’s worry was genuine, while Zhou Wei’s act was for show. Still, it warmed Zhang Yang a bit that he came.

The thugs had left, but Zhang Yang couldn’t stay outside forever. As he headed back to the dorm, he saw Bai Liangfeng with a few lackeys leaning arrogantly by the dorm entrance like some self-styled god.

When Bai Liangfeng saw Xu Danlu and Zhang Yang together, he jumped up and charged straight at Zhang Yang.

“You bastard! You dared mess with my girl? Tired of living, huh?”

As he spoke, he kicked straight at Zhang Yang.

The moment he moved, his lackeys followed suit, giving Zhang Yang no chance to speak.

There were four or five of them. Zhang Yang couldn’t win that fight. Unlike the earlier thugs, this was a personal school dispute. Unless they were classmates or dormmates, no one else would interfere.

Zhou Wei shouted, “Zhang Yang, run!”

But Zhang Yang didn’t move. Run? Where to? Unless he planned to give up his diploma, there was no escaping this forever.

When Bai Liangfeng charged, Zhang Yang went all out too. The five of them looked like the type always causing trouble, but Zhang Yang was done backing down.

Even if he got beaten to death, he’d make sure Bai Liangfeng went down with him.

Bai Liangfeng’s kick landed solidly, but he didn’t come out unscathed. Zhang Yang took the hit and countered with a punch to his face, sending stars spinning before tackling him hard into the wall, pinning him there, and driving his knee into his ribs, dropping him to the ground.

Bai Liangfeng screamed in pain, tears spilling as he cried out, “Fuck! What are you idiots waiting for? Get him!”

The four others snapped out of it and rushed forward, hammering Zhang Yang from behind. But Zhang Yang didn’t care. Every punch they threw, he returned two on Bai Liangfeng.

Bai Liangfeng was shorter and weaker, and with his long hair, he couldn’t even fight back. Zhang Yang had him by the hair and kept pounding away. It looked absurd—his four friends were beating Zhang Yang senseless, but Zhang Yang only focused on thrashing Bai Liangfeng.

“Damn it, you idiots, can’t you finish him already…” Bai Liangfeng cried, barely recognizable, his swollen face looking like a bun. He was supposed to be the attacker, but he’d just walked into a beating.

His shout reminded his friends—one of them bent down to grab a rock.

Zhang Yang realized if these spoiled brats got truly riled up, they might actually smash him with it. His injuries weren’t light already, and if they used a rock, things could get serious. But he knew one thing—if he let up now, they’d hit even harder.

“You arrogant bastard!” one fat guy yelled, raising the rock to smash Zhang Yang’s head.

At that moment, Zhou Wei charged in, kicking the guy down. “Motherfucker, you can’t just gang up on someone like that!” he shouted, flailing wildly.

Zhou Wei’s fighting was a mess, but the fat guy was thrown off by the sudden chaos. When he saw it was Zhou Wei, his face darkened. Zhou Wei looked easier to handle than Zhang Yang.

Just as Zhou Wei was about to get overpowered, a crowd suddenly rushed in from the dorm entrance.

  “Stop!”

The short, feminine voice carried surprising authority. Zhang Yang recognized it immediately—the most beautiful woman at Meining University, Yang Fei. The three troublemakers on top of him froze, and even the fat guy fighting Zhou Wei stopped. Only Zhang Yang didn’t—he gave Bai Liangfeng two more solid punches.

His retaliation earned him two vicious kicks to the ribs. They hurt far worse than the earlier punches—he could feel his bones cracking.

“Fuck, she told you to stop, and you still dare move!” A crew-cut youth in a white plaid shirt stood beside him, his foot still pressing into Zhang Yang’s side, finger jabbing at his nose as he yelled.

Clearly, this bastard was the one who kicked him. Zhang Yang turned and saw it was Bai Gang, the department’s counselor—rumored to have martial arts training.

Zhang Yang grinned, his teeth bloody, his face a mess—but his eyes were defiant, and his expression almost satisfied, as if savoring every moment.

There was a reason for that. Aside from venting his anger by beating Bai Liangfeng, the Nuwa System had just rewarded him with two points.

【Brutally beat a Human Scum Maggot. System Points +2. Current Total: -45. Title: Vile Scum Overflowing with Evil. Please continue your efforts, Scum.】

Though it was only two points, Zhang Yang felt damn good. Still grinning, he sneered at Bai Gang. “Whitehead, don’t act tough. One day, I’ll make you end up just like this scum.”

“Fuck!” Bai Gang lost it. The bastard even used his most hated nickname. If Yang Fei weren’t there, he’d have kicked Zhang Yang a few more times for sure.

“Enough. All of you, stop talking.” Yang Fei frowned, glancing at Zhang Yang and then Bai Liangfeng, before looking at Bai Gang. “They’re all in this state, and you’re still not sending them to the infirmary?”
