Yvonne Hart spoke first.
“What I still can’t figure out is how Quentin Vilewind from the Filthsoil Organization managed to get our location and track us down.”
Wendy Lewis frowned slightly.
“There may be Filthsoil infiltrators within the upper ranks of the Gu’an Nation.”
Evan leaned back in his chair.
“Or… is it possible that Gu’an and the Filthsoil Organization have some kind of cooperation?”
Yvonne shot him a sharp look.
“That’s a dangerous thought.”
“But it’s the only explanation that fits,” Evan replied calmly.
“We now know Li Carter was the Tiger King General’s mole. After the Tiger King General failed to kill us, he still ordered Li Carter to follow us and report our movements. And not long after that—Quentin Vilewind appeared.”
“It feels like the Tiger King General passed our information directly to Quentin.”
Yvonne shook her head.
“Unlikely. If Gu’an dared cooperate with the Filthsoil Organization and the Dominion Nation Linhua discovered it, they’d face severe punishment.”
Wendy didn’t dismiss the idea so quickly.
“Not necessarily impossible.
The formula I developed—‘Skill Suppression Drug’—is useful for ordinary evolvers, yes.
But for Filthsoil’s corrupted evolvers, who absorb human extracts, it’s far more valuable.”
“If Filthsoil obtained the formula, it would be a massive boost to their power.”
She paused.
“I didn’t understand why Gu’an valued the formula so much.
But if they were cooperating with Filthsoil… then it makes perfect sense.”
“Filthsoil is the one who truly wants the formula.”
Yvonne still struggled to accept it.
“But the six nations all have Dominion?appointed Saints overseeing them. Gu’an wouldn’t dare collude with Filthsoil under a Saint’s watch… would they?”
Wendy smiled faintly.
“Don’t overthink it. These are just our guesses. We have no proof.”
She turned to Evan.
“I’ve said most of what I can. Do you have more questions?”
“Two,” Evan said.
“First—what exactly is the Skill Suppression Drug? Second—what kind of organization is Filthsoil?”
Wendy thought for a moment.
“The Skill Suppression Drug allows an evolver to absorb an extract without gaining its skill. In other words, it leaves a skill slot empty. When you absorb the next extract, you’ll gain two skills at once—the new one, plus the one you skipped.”
This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.
“And yes, the drug can be stacked. You can leave two, three, or more skill slots empty.”
Evan’s eyes widened.
“That’s insane. So I could leave a slot empty at Chrysalis?tier, evolve to Breaker?tier, and then absorb a Tier?3 extract to get two Tier?3 skills?”
Wendy shook her head.
“It doesn’t work like that. Experiments show you won’t get two Tier?3 skills. You’ll get one Tier?3 skill and one Tier?2 skill.”
Evan blinked.
“Where does the Tier?2 skill come from?”
Wendy explained patiently.
“Tier?3 beasts weren’t born Tier?3. They evolved from Tier?2 beasts. The second skill you get is the skill they had at Tier?2.”
“It’s the same for corrupted evolvers who absorb human extracts.”
She pointed at Evan.
“Take you as an example. You’re Chrysalis?tier. If someone made an extract from you, it would be a Tier?1 extract. A normal human absorbing it wouldn’t get your Tier?2 skill ‘Regenerator’. They’d get one of your Tier?1 skills instead.”
Evan finally understood.
So the bug couldn’t be exploited.
But even so, the drug was incredibly powerful.
For example—
If someone had a D?grade extract and an S?grade extract, they could:
Use the Skill Suppression Drug
Absorb the D?grade extract (gain no skill)
Absorb the S?grade extract (gain two S?grade skills)
Evan’s eyes widened.
“Holy—If Filthsoil gets this formula, they’ll skyrocket.”
Now he understood why Wendy said the drug was even more valuable to corrupted evolvers.
Ordinary evolvers absorbed beast extracts, which varied in quality. Even S?grade extracts often had only one top?tier skill.
But human extracts?
Human elites—family heirs, prodigies, veteran powerhouses—were walking collections of top?tier skills.
Evan himself was a perfect example.
If Filthsoil turned him into an extract and used enough Skill Suppression Drug, they could create someone who inherited all his skills.
And they could do the same with other geniuses.
Wendy sighed.
“Exactly. Sometimes I regret inventing it. It feels like I created a weapon tailor?made for corrupted evolvers.”
“Fortunately… the drug doesn’t work on Saints.”
Evan exhaled.
“Good. If Saints could use it, the world would collapse.”
Wendy then moved on to his second question.
“As for the Filthsoil Organization… I don’t know everything. But I know this much:”
“They are the only major force composed entirely of corrupted evolvers.”
“There aren’t many corrupted evolvers in the world, but because they can’t live among normal humans, they band together. Over time, that became the Filthsoil Organization.”
Evan asked:
“How strong are they?”
Wendy didn’t hesitate.
“Very strong. Powerful, mysterious, and evil. Some say their influence isn’t limited to Linhua Continent—they’re spread across every human settlement on Blue Star.”
“The six nations of Linhua are definitely not their match. The only force they fear here is the Dominion Nation Linhua.”
Evan felt a chill.
He had provoked a monster.
Wendy tried to reassure him.
“Don’t worry too much. With the Dominion Nation watching, Filthsoil can’t act too openly.”
“And compared to you, they want me far more.”
Evan nodded. After learning the true value of the Skill Suppression Drug, he understood.
“So what’s your plan? Leaving immediately?”
Wendy shook her head.
“I’ll leave eventually. Only Eastern Dawn is truly safe for me.”
“But for now, I plan to rent a place in Monka City and wait for Yvonne to recover.”
“I’ve already contacted Eastern Dawn. They’ll send people to pick us up as soon as possible.”
A formula that can reshape evolution.
An organization that feeds on corrupted power.
And a world where science and crime blur into the same hunger.
If you were Evan, how would you prioritize protecting Wendy while preparing to fight Filthsoil?
