Ryan's gaze turned sharp as he raised his leg without the slightest hesitation and unleashed a whirlwind kick infused with magic.
A dull impact echoed as the vicious dog, built like a tiger, was instantly sent flying by the violent strike.
Its massive body traced a parabolic arc through the air before smashing heavily into a distant stone wall, letting out a piercing howl of agony.
The surrounding guards were completely stunned, staring blankly as the huge beast was kicked away, forgetting to react for a moment.
This is bad.
The leading guard's face changed dramatically. He rushed over at once and carefully lifted the Seer Hound, now barely clinging to life, his expression filled with panic.
This was a Seer Hound deployed by the Sanctum of the Eternal Seers, yet it had been kicked to the brink of death with a single blow.
If the Sanctum of the Eternal Seers held them accountable, none of these guards would be able to bear the consequences.
"Seize him. Dead or alive!" the leading guard roared as he hurriedly took out a healing potion, shouting orders to the remaining guards behind him.
"Damn it." Seeing this, Ryan instantly understood that passing through the teleportation array peacefully was no longer possible today.
Even now, he still could not figure out why that vicious dog had suddenly tried to kill him.
At this point, there was no reason to hold back. Ryan pulled the little Drake tightly into his arms, surged his magic once more, and swept out an even more powerful whirlwind kick.
Invisible gusts of magical force spread outward, instantly sending the guards who rushed in tumbling in all directions. One after another, they were thrown to the ground, wailing in pain.
"Goodbye."
With the magic in his body fully activated, Ryan cast a movement spell and fled toward the outskirts of the city at top speed, holding the little Drake close.
"Do not let him escape!"
At that moment, large numbers of guards suddenly poured out from the surrounding streets and alleys, weapons in hand, closing in on Ryan from all sides.
Their attacks were ruthless, deliberately targeting vulnerable areas and vital points. It was clear they intended to cripple his mobility first before capturing him alive.
"All of you, get lost!"
Ryan's chest heaved violently as the pent up fury within him erupted.
A thunderous roar infused with mental magic burst from his throat. Rings of visible sound waves exploded outward from him, sweeping across the area like an invisible shockwave.
The guards who rushed in were instantly struck. Those less affected were blasted away by the sonic waves, while the more severely hit spat blood and collapsed on the spot. As for whether anyone died on the spot, Ryan had no time to care.
"Dad."
The little Drake clung tightly to Ryan's neck. Her soft, childlike voice carried a hint of fear, her small body trembling as she prepared to activate her magic and revert to her Drake form to fight.
"It is fine. Do not be afraid. Do not return to your true form."
Sensing the Drake's movement, Ryan quickly stopped her.
The situation was already dire. If the little Drake were to revert to the true form of a Celestial Drake, it would inevitably attract even more powerful figures, and then there would truly be no escape.
Carrying the little Drake, Ryan charged forward at full speed. Relying on the immense magic of a Ninth tier Senior Mage, he forcefully broke through several layers of interception.
Just as he was about to reach the city gates, the leading guard appeared before him once again, ghostlike.
"Boy, surrender obediently and come with me. You might still receive lenient treatment. Otherwise, your crimes will be multiplied, and you will suffer a fate worse than death."
The leading guard hovered in midair, gripping a glowing magic spear, his eyes fixed on Ryan with savage intensity.
"I will give you one last chance. Get out of my way."
Ryan's voice was icy cold, and his footsteps did not slow in the slightest.
His left arm held the little Drake tightly against his chest, while his right hand slowly formed a palm. Magic gathered within his palm, the advanced magical combat technique he had mastered, the Flame Palm.
As the magic surged, Ryan's aura erupted explosively. The oppressive presence of a Ninth tier Senior Mage spread outward in an instant.
The reason he no longer bothered to conceal his strength was that, out of the corner of his eye, he had already spotted several figures with far more powerful auras appearing atop the city walls.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Master Mage level experts had arrived.
In the major cities of the Central Continent, the appearance of Archmage-level experts was hardly surprising, let alone a few Master Mages. This was perfectly normal.
The leading guard felt Ryan's sudden, terrifying surge of aura. His pupils shrank violently.
There was no time to think; he immediately spun around and leapt back, holding his spear horizontally in front of him in a full-strength defensive stance.
The flames of Ryan's Flame Palm collided violently with the spear, and an intense explosion erupted instantly at the city gate. The raging shockwave of magic swept outward in all directions.
A piercing scream came from the center of the explosion. The leading guard was hurled into the air by the force of the blast.
His clothes were shredded, his skin scorched black from the flames, and he crashed heavily onto the ground, barely clinging to life.
"Save me." He raised a trembling hand and weakly cried out to the Master Mages on the city walls, his eyes filled with desperate pleading.
But the Master Mages on the walls looked down with indifferent expressions, as if he did not exist, showing no intention of intervening.
Only a few low-ranking guards hurried over, dragging his body to safety. Whether he survived or not, no one knew.
Harsh barking sounded from the city walls. Ryan looked up and saw that several well-built Seer Hounds stood beside the Master Mages.
A thought struck him, and the key clicked into place.
The Sanctum of the Eternal Seers specialized in raising Seer Hounds. The Divination Tracking Magic they created was infused into these hunting dogs.
These hounds possessed extremely strong aura tracking abilities, far superior to ordinary magical detection methods.
Even with the Grimoire's advanced aura suppression protecting him, the Seer Hounds could not detect his divination traces.
What they could track had to be the residual aura he had left behind in that noble lady's room!
"Damn it!" Ryan realized the full chain of cause and effect and cursed under his breath.
He glanced down at the little Drake in his arms. She had apparently grown bold enough to curl up against his chest and fall asleep. Her brows were slightly furrowed, her breathing even, completely unaffected by the surrounding chaos and explosions.
"Stop right there! One more step and you will be executed without mercy!"
A deep voice boomed from the city walls, carrying the oppressive presence of a Master Mage. It struck Ryan like a heavy hammer to the chest.
Ryan's steps ground to a halt. He knew he was completely surrounded. Any attempt to force his way through would surely provoke a joint assault from several Master Mages.
"My lords! What are you doing?" Ryan immediately shifted his expression. Holding the little Drake, he wiped away nonexistent tears and shouted toward the Master Mages on the walls.
"I only want to use the teleportation array to take this child to the Northern Border Icefield to find her mother. You not only refuse me passage, but now you want to kill me. Is there any justice left in this world?"
He tightened his hold on the little Drake and gently patted her back, acting as if afraid she might be frightened.
Some of the onlookers, seeing Ryan surrounded by a large number of guards while cradling an adorable child, felt a surge of indignation. But they only dared complain silently. None dared step forward.
The affairs of the Sanctum of the Eternal Seers were far beyond the authority of ordinary people.
"Thief! Stop spouting lies!" One of the five Master Mages on the wall, an elder in a gray robe, stepped forward.
He pointed his staff at Ryan and shouted angrily,"You have injured someone's daughter and slain a Seer Hound of the Sanctum of the Eternal Seers. Your crimes are grave! Today you will not escape!"
In the major city of the Central Continent, even Archmage-level experts were not unusual, and a handful of Master Mages was nothing out of the ordinary.
Yet the five Master Mages on the city walls did not immediately move to corner Ryan. Instead, they stood with their hands behind their backs, watching the chaos below with apparent amusement, as if a cat were toying with a mouse.
"Wake up!" Ryan gently patted the little Drake's back, his voice urgent.
"Dad." The little Drake stirred groggily, her large watery eyes half-open, staring at Ryan in confusion, her voice soft and drowsy from just waking.
"There's going to be a dangerous fight soon. Can you temporarily return to your Drake form and hide inside the totem on my chest?" Ryan lowered his voice and asked.
The little Drake shook her tiny head, clearly unwilling.
Ryan sighed, gently setting her on the ground."Then stay right here. Do not run around. Dad will handle this quickly."
"Since you insist on blocking me, don't blame me for being merciless!" Ryan dropped the act of weakness. His eyes immediately turned sharp and fierce.
With a thought, he suddenly crushed two floating cards from his storage space: one was the Card of Supreme Luck, the other the Random Magic Weapon Borrowing Card.
The instant the cards shattered, a dazzling beam of golden light shot down from the heavens, precisely enveloping Ryan.
His pupils contracted sharply, and he cursed inwardly:"Damn! It even comes with a surge of great fortune? Isn't this just making things more chaotic!"
He had only intended to use the cards to break through, never expecting such a conspicuous display of fortune to appear.
"This is great destiny energy!!"
Everyone around, including the Master Mages on the walls who had appeared indifferent, was instantly moved, their eyes flashing with greed.
Destiny energy, though intangible, was real and irresistibly alluring. It could drive anyone to act recklessly.
"Kill him! Seize the destiny energy!"
Someone shouted first, and the crowd immediately turned red-eyed, charging at Ryan like possessed, fearing that if they hesitated, someone else would claim the fortune.
Not far from the city gate, Evelyn was about to rush to Ryan's aid when she suddenly felt her ultimate ice sword tremble violently in her hands. An urgent voice rang in her mind:
"Someone is forcibly summoning me!"
"I cannot resist! The seal on me has been broken!" The voice of the ultimate ice sword shook with panic.
A flash of icy light appeared, and the ultimate ice sword vanished instantly from Evelyn's hands.
"What's happening!" Evelyn leapt to her feet, panic written across her face.
This ultimate ice sword was her bonded weapon, tied closely to her spiritual power. How could someone forcibly summon it away?
Moments later, tracing the spiritual connection, Evelyn looked toward the city gate. Her eyes widened, her entire body frozen in place.
From Ryan's hands, a piercingly cold radiance erupted, sweeping across a wide area in an instant.
The force of the icy light was tremendous, instantly carving a massive breach in the sturdy city wall. Its momentum did not stop, continuing outward beyond the city.
With just a single strike, Ryan annihilated the city gate wall and eliminated over ninety percent of the enemies surrounding him.
If Ryan's magical rank had been at Master Mage level, this icy radiance alone could have obliterated everything within dozens of kilometers in the targeted direction.
Holding the ultimate ice sword, Ryan did not pause even after sweeping away so many enemies. Urgently, he shouted to Grimoire in his mind:
"Grimoire, use all my Origin Value for the lottery!"
Seizing the perfect opportunity enhanced by the Card of Supreme Luck, he decided to go all in.
Only with the Card of Supreme Luck's blessing could he hope to draw the ultimate card strong enough to break through completely.
