Chapter 26

She was a woman of fair complexion, ruby red eyes and plague felled lips, with a nose drained of all muscle and fat. She was Ruby Lasul of Lapis, one who touched the pillar of earth, and who had awakened to the seat of Lord. She sits with grace and elegance in the confines of small quarters. Five other seats crowd around her, to her closest left sat Jackal Orso of the Watch. Poofy blonde hair strapped together by a large clay mask, down the center came a zipper. On the right was a checkered pattern, on the left was swirls like artistic wind. He had no right arm, rather he had two left arms. His shoulder opened out to a mouth with three eyes, from within sprawled wild worms. As one of the ten Lords aiming to touch the stars and be selected by a Zodiac, Orso ranked ninth, with an evil index of nine as well.

To Lasul’s closest right sat the Eye of the Beholder Shroud. One could not see his face, a torn cape like a little riding girl covered him; he resembled a dying lily. Belts atop belts came around his throat and back, shoulder pads made of fossilized wood, hands gloved with human leather. His lower half was as though the world melted, his figure blending with the surroundings. At a glance he detached his right arm, letting the blood spill over the table. No one questioned it. He let the arm crawl around to say hello to his fellows. A gem-like eye burst from the top of the hand, one could almost assume a smile came from that surreal eye.

From Lasul’s furthest reach sat Weeping Willow of Lake Oronia. He was a man of much age, with mist-like hair, dreary eyes that split like mirrors facing each other under water. From those same eyes leaked tears he could not stop. Similar to Orso, Willow too wished to touch the stars and be granted privilege to walk along the Zodiacs. For he ranked fourth among the Lords, with a seven on the evil index.

To Willow's right would have been the Space Knight Mail, but they were momentarily absent. Similarly, Dushyanta was also absent, but of course he had reason to be.

“Dushyanta is setting up the connection point, now the only thing we must do is to gather the alternates who have linked with the other side. Ben Krow… Lasul, can you handle him?” Willow asked with a coarse voice.

“What a silly question. He will fall by my blade… Though, why did he slip over to this side anyway?” Lasul replied.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

“He wishes to end his other half most certainly, after-all, it is the only way to ascend if they are naturally weak,” Orso chimed in with a voice resembling many, children, women, men of war, men of the sheets, dogs, cats, all sorts were mixed with his vocals.

“Gross…” Lasul muttered. “I understand that, but then why not just recruit the child as an apprentice, make em strong? If he’d done that, then he wouldn’t be such easy prey now.”

  “Similar to yourself…” Willow groaned.

“I never found my other half, my power, as uncommon as it is, is still just as rare. Where on this side would I find them? I think it is peculiar that he would weaken himself so much to cross over, all to inevitably not finish the job.”

  “Someone…else…has…intervened…” Shroud entered.

  “Hmm?” Willow contemplated.

  “Elaborate,” Lasul commanded.

  “I…do…not…tread…on…the…lands…of…life…and…death…but…I…have…sensed…it…since…we…first…tore…through…the…bridge…Someone…who…should…be…burning…in…Gehenna…is…still…around…Someone…who…touches…neither…Wood…or…Rot…came…back…from…the…dead…”

“That is impossible!” Willow shouted with grief echoing out from his eyes.

“The one Dushyanta sent to open the gate…could he have had another half?” Orso aired as babies wailed.

“…Shit!” Lasul said whilst slamming her hand onto the table. “That boy? What was his name…ah…Stiya…”

“Matsya, he had a great affinity to water,” Willow said calmly. “Someone, go to the other side, check his corpse…if it still lays there, then we worry not over Shroud’s concerns…”

“And…if he isn’t?” Orso questioned with a single monotone voice.

  “…”

Lasul glared with quiet irritation, until she was fed up with the long silence. “We kill him again, we search him out, from the bridge's head to its tail. From tower’s top, to tower’s bottom, we search all three realms, to any dimension with even the most scant scent of him. For I assure you, none of us want another immortal on our hands!”

  “Aye.”

  “Aye.”

  “Aye.”

“Looks like we all understand, now who will search for him, and who will confront Dushyanta?”

“Lasul, you shall handle Krow as originally planned. I will speak with Dushyanta, Shroud, you shall search for the boy. Orso shall hold open the inter-dimensional plane. We must have the merger go without interruption…”

  “Aye.”

  “Aye.”

  “Aye,” Lasul said with angst.
