Chapter 38: Harvey the Game Master

Harvey bounced in his bean bag causing Mortimer to jump off his chest mid-nap. The posture of the cat spoke of the utter contempt for his subservient human pillow.

Harvey had just reviewed several of the mini-boss encounters that had just begun. What a shock it was to most of the players. It was all hitting home that this was real. There was a Druid in Louisiana that had performed magnificently while protecting citizens from a frenzied lizard-man. The news organizations worldwide were ignoring it as a hoax, as expected.

“They won’t be able to deny the new reality for much longer, however.” He said with a grin.

Harvey pulled up another screen of a Sorcerer from New York who was going all out to try and prove her abilities were real. Throwing fireballs and making glowing light swirl about her in the middle of the streets of New York. When people laughed at her she would use a minor telepathy spell on them and make them hear a voice that said, "Behold the Sorceress of Flames sees your mind!"

Confused, they would look around before walking away annoyed at not understanding the trick.

He knew it was still going to take some more time for the masses to be convinced. He looked ahead to his schedule of escalating events and wondered if he was moving too quickly or slowly. He could never tell as this game seemed to have skipped over a tutorial of some sort. Like the page he had discovered the other day with the countdown.
