Episode 31

  CRASH!

Anger was expressed by destroying the trophies, the symbols of his glory. They were the Boss's very pride.

But the lawyer's words seemed to tear that pride to shreds: the command to abandon revenge.

What words could be more infuriating than that?

"You must be insane. Do you think I would tolerate that?"

However, the Boss spoke in a surprisingly calm voice considering he was enraged. The lawyer said nothing in response.

Just because his voice was calm didn't mean the Boss wasn't angry. On the contrary, this was a threat. A warning that he would not be forgiven if he provoked his temper even slightly.

"Of course, what a man who deals with the law can do is obvious."

The Boss insulted the lawyer. Still, knowing the loyalty he had shown until now, the Boss showed uncharacteristic patience.

"Just watch. Because this is the way I live."

The Boss declared with a cruel smile. He would kill Jihyeon. The murderous intent on his face was beyond what ordinary people could imagine.

  "Understood."

The lawyer replied quietly. He couldn't say anything more than that. It was absolutely not wise to be exposed to the Boss's wrath by saying something unnecessary.

Instead, becoming an observer and watching how the matter that had left his hands would proceed was all the lawyer could do.

"I have to show that bastard and his family hell. Wouldn't that be the profitable move?"

The Boss said that and began to laugh. The thought of what was about to unfold seemed to delight him.

  But the lawyer knew.

When the Boss laughed like that, he was definitely planning something that would shock the entire nation. The madness that had prevented the other organization from destroying them until now began to flow out.

  "Call in the guys!"

The Boss shouted. And shortly after his command, his subordinates began to move. The lawyer watched it all and secretly prayed for Jihyeon's soul.

No one had survived the Boss's madness yet. Thinking that one more name would be added to the list of the dead this time, the lawyer let out a deep sigh.

  It's always the same.

Attacking the people around the target to lead the enemy to ruin is basic. It takes long patience, but crushing the spirit of a person who is weakened by seeing their family and friends get hurt can certainly lead to their destruction.

However, that's only when it succeeds.

Jihyeon didn't bother to hide his contempt for those who used such shallow tactics against him.

He had already warned them sufficiently that such games wouldn't work. Anyone with a brain would have noticed the warning not to come.

Yet, they dared to target his little sister?

That was proof that they didn't understand Jihyeon's warning, and it was the same as declaring they would taste his full fury.

Therefore, Jihyeon skipped class today. He felt that the time had come to take real action.

The guys who crossed Jihyeon today would become a test case. In a very uninteresting way.

He thought the war would begin with this. However, since they were the ones who first tried to harm Jihyeon's family, Jihyeon had no hesitation.

There were plenty of reasons to hold them accountable for their inability to control their drug users and letting delinquents run wild.

For now, it was time to hold the Boss's organization accountable for their sins.

Jihyeon mobilized his entire information network and waited on the road that the men targeting his sister would take today. After all, none of them had prepared equipment to neutralize CCTVs.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

And even if there was one guy who had such equipment to deceive him, it didn't matter. He was already prepared for that.

Wearing a raincoat, hat, and mask he had prepared in advance to hide his identity as much as possible, Jihyeon used his CCTV neutralizing tool and approached the men targeting Jisu.

He didn't even have to deliberately search for them. Their thoughts and information were so clear that he could see them from a distance.

Seeing that, it was difficult for Jihyeon to hide his anger.

Putting aside their inherently thuggish appearance, they made no attempt to hide what they planned to do after kidnapping Jihyeon's sister, Jisu.

As an older brother, there was no reason to let such guys live. So, resolving to definitely punish them, he cautiously approached them.

As he walked, Jihyeon smiled. If anyone saw him, they would feel a chill, an eeriness in that expression.

It was impossible to tell if it was an expression of anger or joy. Perhaps it was both.

However, those waiting for Jisu wouldn't be able to see that smile. Even if they had brought equipment that could detect the CCTV neutralizing tool, it didn't matter.

Because everything would be over before they could take any effective action with it.

Jihyeon slowly walked toward the car they were in. He walked in a direction that would not matter even if the car accelerated suddenly, just in case, while surveying the surroundings.

He wanted to rush in and crush them immediately, but Jihyeon moved as carefully as possible. As always, there was no harm in being cautious.

Considering the countless malicious intentions directed at him, and more, Jihyeon approached. If things continued like this, the job would be finished easily.

But occasionally, things would go wrong. Especially if the opponent was a person who couldn't hide their madness, they would deviate from expectations.

It was the same this time.

Although they couldn't see him with their eyes, they seemed to have brought a device that could detect the CCTV neutralizing tool, and they opened the door and got out when Jihyeon approached.

They looked panicked as the unexpected situation unfolded. They seemed to tremble in fear as if an unwanted fate had arrived. Their pathetic state amused Jihyeon.

Jihyeon intended to teach them what fear was. Even with the equipment, if he attacked them from an invisible place, a reaction would be impossible.

However, at this moment, Jihyeon realized he had to re-evaluate the Boss. A completely unexpected malicious intent had arrived. He had no time to worry about these small fries.

  VROOOM!

The sound of a car engine was heard. And it was the sound of a huge truck. The sound was ear-splittingly loud, as if the engine's rotation speed was pushed to its limit.

People screamed. No one would be fearless in front of a giant truck that was simply driving without regard for safety.

  "Crazy..."

Jihyeon spat out a curse. He understood the situation immediately.

The Boss had put his subordinates out as bait. It was an extremely attractive bait, like juicy meat.

It was only natural, as he had wagered human lives and valuable equipment just to catch Jihyeon.

Jihyeon instantly checked the information entering his mind and realized he had fallen into a trap. And for a brief moment, he found himself shuddering at the extreme madness of the plan.

Checking the driver's information, he saw that the driver had been forcibly injected with drugs. He had been rendered incapable of doing anything except one thing—driving straight toward Jihyeon to kill him.

If this succeeded, not only would Jihyeon die.

The Boss's loyal subordinates would all die with him. Although Jihyeon intended to teach them a lesson, he never intended to kill them.

But their Boss didn't care about such things at all. Instead, he would be proud to use human lives to demonstrate how terrifying his wrath was.

"Damn it! I didn't want to do this!"

Jihyeon muttered that and turned his head to look at the Boss's subordinates. They looked terrified, as if they had not expected this outcome at all.

Since the device was alerting them, they must have known Jihyeon was nearby. But aside from the invisible Jihyeon, it would be strange if they weren't terrified when they saw a huge truck rushing toward them.

Jihyeon had no interest in their lives. A life full of disgrace and wicked deeds was not even worth his attention.

Nevertheless, Jihyeon did not like the idea of people dying after being used as another person's tool. Because that was something he truly hated.

  "Blast it!"

Jihyeon shouted that and summoned the power that controlled electricity to its maximum extent. His target was the ground.

Targeting the truck directly was pointless. If he made a mistake, the car could explode, harming people nearby. Furthermore, the driver inside could die.

But if he targeted the ground, the story was different.

Finishing his calculations with superhuman speed, Jihyeon drew out a burst of electricity stronger than lightning and attacked exactly four points.

The size of the holes was large enough for the wheels to fall into and be unable to get out.

An enormous explosion of sound rang out. At the same time, the truck stopped. The car stopped as its wheels sank into the freshly created holes, as if it had simply slumped down.

The truck came rushing to a dangerously close distance, but Jihyeon was able to stop it before it was too late. The murmuring of the crowd was heard, but Jihyeon and the Boss's subordinates were all safe.

  "Hah... Hah..."

Jihyeon's head spun due to the immense power he used instantly. Still, his gamble had succeeded. That fact provided Jihyeon with a fulfilling sense of satisfaction.

But he couldn't stay here any longer. The Boss's subordinates might attack him once they regained their senses.

Since the CCTV neutralizing device was still operating, they were safe from their perspective.

  "Aargh!"

  Flash!

  And a scream followed.

Jihyeon knocked out all the men who were targeting Jisu. Since they were still reeling from the shock and only standing blankly, Jihyeon easily knocked them all out.

Then, he immediately destroyed the detection tool in their car. A single powerful strike was enough without needing to go inside. After confirming it was completely destroyed, Jihyeon turned his body.

  "Alright... We'll see about this..."

Jihyeon was genuinely impressed. At the same time, he thought he should consider how to reciprocate. But for now, it was time to hide his presence.

Perfectly concealing himself amidst the chaos, Jihyeon left the scene.
