Episode 26

The family shared breakfast together now. Jihyeon was simply happy about that fact. He was especially happy given the events of last night.

"The world is truly unsettled. A place selling drugs..."

Jihyeon listened to his mother's words and didn't say anything unnecessary. Instead, he chimed in, saying they got what they deserved.

Heeyeon shuddered, recalling the memory of being attacked by a drug addict. Not enough time had passed to overcome the terror brought by the very fact that she could have been a victim.

"Still, it's a relief to see them cracking down on places like that."

His father, Sangsu, said that, looking at his wife. He, too, had almost been seriously injured when a person high on drugs attacked him. The fact that he almost had to be hospitalized again right after being discharged was not a pleasant thing.

"I really don't know what's going on. Dangerous incidents keep increasing."

Jihyeon said that, quietly finishing his meal. This morning's meal was ordinary, if anything. But Jihyeon realized every day that ordinariness was truly precious.

"Jihyeon, you're the one who gets caught up in the most dangerous incidents, aren't you? Even if it's not your fault, I really wish I could stop seeing you going to the police station now."

Heeyeon sighed, mentioning again her son's frequent visits to the police station.

Why did Jihyeon keep encountering situations that required a trip to the police station? Ever since the near-disaster with the scammers, incidents kept happening around Jihyeon.

There were guys who tried to kidnap his daughter, Jisu, and people who tried to assault Jihyuk.

Moreover, Jihyeon had gone to the police station several times because of a junior from his school.

Of course, none of it was his fault, but there were times when she felt afraid, sensing that something big might happen because of this.

"Me too. I really want to stop going. Seriously, I feel like I'm cursed these days; I get caught up in chaos because of strange people."

Jihyeon said that jokingly and got up from his seat. He enjoyed eating with his family, but he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being interrogated.

  But what could he say?

All of his abilities and tools were things that ordinary people absolutely shouldn't know about. He had used them last night to take down many people.

  He didn't kill them.

He didn't need to kill them.

But when his blood cooled, Jihyeon realized once again how dangerous the things he had done were.

If he ever became too intoxicated with his power, he might one day cross the line and self-destruct.

Thinking that such a thing must be avoided at all costs, Jihyeon placed his bowl in the sink and turned on the water. His parents' gaze, watching Jihyeon, was filled only with worry.

The manager still couldn't believe reality. He was dumbfounded to wake up and find himself in a detention center.

Moreover, since evidence had come out, there was no way for him to escape. It was as if a perfectly prepared rival had targeted them and sent a hitman.

But at the same time, it was ridiculous.

  No one was dead.

They had merely lost consciousness in a flash. And now they were waiting for investigation here.

  He was unlucky.

Extremely unlucky. The boss would probably abandon him. And then certainly dispose of him in prison.

It was something he didn't even want to imagine.

If he wanted to avoid disposal, he had to catch and crush the guy who had ruined their reputation, no matter what it took.

But no method came to mind.

He had no information about who the opponent was. They were simply annihilated when they woke up.

At least within the scope of what he knew, no one could do such a thing. Not even if he gathered the most famous fighters from other regions.

In a sense, it might be an act of force majeure.

How would the boss view this incident?

And what would his own fate be? The manager didn't want to think about anything. Only dark outcomes dominated his mind.

  "Hey, it's visiting time."

The manager stopped thinking, startled by the sudden sound. Who on earth had come to see him? He hadn't even chosen a defense lawyer yet.

But it was probably best to go. His steps walking to the visiting room looked somewhat awkward. His slouched figure, unlike someone who had lived on the streets for a long time, even elicited pity.

The manager looked at the person who had come to see him in the visiting room. And with surprise, he felt that his predetermined fate had arrived.

"Boss's lawyer, why would you come to see me..."

The manager asked cautiously, fear in his voice.

"The boss finds this incident quite interesting. So, let's discuss the details briefly."

The boss's lawyer spoke in a surprisingly friendly tone that didn't match his cold appearance. But after telling everything, all that would be left was execution.

The manager sighed involuntarily. But he couldn't exercise the right to remain silent. That was what the boss hated the most.

  "Yes, I understand."

Conscious of the surrounding gazes, the manager cautiously began to speak. He used their habitual language, which the guards couldn't understand.

"Interesting. I'll need to look into this further. If by any chance it's not a lie, just if by any chance..."

The boss's lawyer paused for a moment and then continued.

"What is about to unfold will be quite entertaining. You are very lucky. The boss will handle this case differently from others."

The manager didn't reply. Instead, he just mulled over the boss's lawyer's words.

If a rival organization suffered great damage without them doing anything, there would be nothing more enjoyable.

  It was always like this.

It was the so-called fisherman's benefit.

The boss was in a good mood. The rival organization selling drugs was always a headache for him. Of course, this wasn't due to a sense of justice.

It was originally a business he should have controlled.

But the rival did it without hesitation. And they were expanding their activities even into his territory. So, the fact that they were crushed like this was the greatest joy.

Of course, he couldn't fill the void immediately. The police in this country were absolutely unforgiving regarding drugs.

Even so, time eventually solves everything. If he prepared diligently, he would be able to profit immensely.

However, there was one thing that bothered him.

"It couldn't be that guy, could it?"

The boss thought. He remembered the unknown guy who had messed with his subordinates. Since the rival organization also had no idea who did it, his interest grew even more.

At first, he thought the guy who had messed with his subordinates might have been the rival's boss. But if the same method was used to attack the rival this time, the story was different.

  Probably an independent force.

If it was a minor group aiming for their throne, he would just crush them. But what if it wasn't?

"Let's wait and see. Let's see who's causing trouble."

The boss muttered that and grinned. He instinctively felt that something interesting was about to happen.

  A walk.

When his mind was cluttered, it was always a good idea to walk outside.

His parents' words weighed on his mind, but it was also true that things felt like they were getting increasingly complicated.

Of course, he wasn't going to stay like this forever. Jihyeon held a sliver of hope that things might change if he returned to school.

There would be nothing better than being able to utilize his abilities while maintaining distance from dangerous incidents.

However, no one knows what life holds. Especially when fools intervene in fate.

  "That's him! That's the guy!"

Someone shouted toward Jihyeon. That voice was filled with resentment, yet it also contained an undeniable fear.

Jihyeon turned his head and looked at the person who showed hostility toward him. And Jihyeon wore an absurd expression.

In his line of sight was a teenage boy. And behind him were many rough-looking men.

  "Oh dear..."

  Jihyeon couldn't suppress a laugh.

He thought everything had ended then. Since he had completely destroyed the office of the guys who dared to seek revenge, he thought no one else would come after him.

But that was too naive a thought.

He never expected that one of the guys who tried to harm Jihyuk would be roaming the streets instead of a juvenile detention center, seeking revenge.

Of course, it was possible. A teenager who thought only of pure revenge was capable of any madness.

Jihyeon felt once again that this was becoming troublesome.

The teenage delinquent aside, the men behind him were all guys who had been in the gangster's office. The information that flowed into his mind just by looking at them made Jihyeon feel absurd again.

If he followed his instincts, he would want to make them all experience a heart attack right now. But he couldn't do that here.

"Why are so many of you swarming after just me? You went after my little brother, didn't you? Wasn't that settled like men?"

Jihyeon asked the guy who came for revenge. The guy was flustered and then shouted something completely nonsensical.

"That guy! That's the one who crushed the office! I... I saw him!"

Jihyeon laughed at that. The statement wasn't a lie. But it was nothing more than a blind stab in the dark.

  "Is that true?"

One of the burly men asked. They, too, wanted revenge for their office being crushed. Or perhaps they wanted the feeling of having taken revenge.

Reading the emotions that they themselves weren't fully aware of, Jihyeon denied it.

"That can't be. What could I possibly do by myself?"

  A lie.

Jihyeon had already crushed them sufficiently. Jihyeon was not a pushover who would forgive the madmen who came all the way to his house.

"We can ask that later. Take him!"

To take a person away without preamble was kidnapping. But those who didn't want to get involved with dangerous people turned their heads and looked away.

Jihyeon sighed as if he couldn't help it. Of course, he had no intention of just being taken.

  'If there's no other choice...'

Jihyeon followed them, contemplating whether he had to completely give up on a normal life now.
