Emilio entered the online meeting without really knowing what to expect. He found a man in his forties in a suit. The man looked a little bit anxious but also expectant, at the same time he was quite tired showing he had been working overtime without stopping.
“Hello?” Emilio greeted the CEO of KimTec a little bit unsure on how to address him. The man was really renowned. It was not everyday that an Argentinian was named global CEO of one of the top companies in the world. But that man did it before he was forty. He was not only smart, but also beyond capable and Emilio was now facing him one on one.
“Hello Emilio, it’s nice to meet you. I am Marcos Di Tella, I’m really sorry for scheduling the meeting at the first hour in the morning. I really wanted to discuss your future before we make any rash decisions,” Marcos commented. He was smiling and seemed like he had everything in control. What he didn’t know was that Emilo had a meeting with Milagros before and was ready for the meeting.
“It’s really nice to meet you. I’m not sure if I should be meeting with you, but I really appreciate your time. You look a little bit tired, are you all right?”
“I’ve had almost no time to sleep since Friday. This meeting you is actually one of my priorities right now.
“First of all, I wanted to verify a few statements. Is it true that your Vitality is 10 and on your other Stats you have a 3 and a 2?”
“Yes, but I would like to keep that information private. Is that ok?”
“Of course, you know we take privacy as a priority. On another subject, I was informed that you might know some context on what is going on in the world. Is that true?”
“Yes I have some information about that. May I know what you earned in the Trial? I might not be able to say too much if you didn’t get the appropriate rewards.”
“Sadly, I have not taken the Trial yet. May I know how you got the information and what do I have to get in the Trial for you to be able to talk?”
“I don’t know how much I can tell you. But I will try.” Emilio decided to say a series of statements while paying attention to any System messages that told him to stop. “I was able to get the information in the Trial. I have the information of the four Stats and details on other items. Just the Stats appear to be enough to talk about what is important. You might need the other details to get recommendations on what to buy, but that is not as important.”
Marcos took notes on everything that Emilio said and seemed quite satisfied with the information he managed to get. When Emilio looked at his satisfied smile, he felt kind of sad for him. If he believed that was enough information he couldn’t be farther from the truth.

“It is good to know what we should get,” Marcos nodded. “With that out of the way, I want to make a proposal to you. I know you want to focus on your new abilities. I also don’t want to hold you back unnecessarily so I will go straight to the point. We want to support you.
“We will get you what you need for your training and you will still be working for us. We will support you as best as we can. In exchange we want exclusivity on your information, your support if you become a talent and your help if we need it. I am prepared to give you a four hundred thousand dollar yearly salary with fifty thousand for expenses to spend at your discretion. Do you take the deal?”
Emilio was surprised at the amount for a first offer, but soon realized the deal had exclusive access to his information included. He was not only selling himself, but also his information that might be even more valuable than his talents. That meant that he had to negotiate.
“I’m not opposed to the deal but there are some things to discuss,” Emilio started by not outright rejecting it, but it was time to show his fangs. “First of all, I will not agree to restricting the information I have. It involves the wellbeing of the world and humanity itself. Limiting its access to just our company would be a sin.”
This was a hard limit on Emilio’s part. The world might get invaded, he could not hoard the information and abandon his humanity. He didn’t publish it online because he didn’t want to get exposed, but he was going to make it public one way or another. KimTec was one of his avenues to do it, but not the only one.
On the other hand, Marcos was really surprised. He was expecting a salary negotiation. After all, no talent was going to take the first offer when the CEO himself went to meet with him.
What he did not expect was that the negotiation was going to come from this angle. To not make information public for the good of humanity. Was he really going to sacrifice a personal negotiation for something like that?
Marcos had done his research on Emilio Castro before meeting with him. The man was talented, but also a little bit lazy. His research said that if he had put a bit more effort, he might have risen in the ladder quite a lot. Instead of that, he decided to stay where he was and still be a top performer.
One thing was for sure. The man liked to be relaxed. If that was the case and he was sacrificing a personal negotiation and even a deal where he could do whatever he wanted then the information he had might be several times more important than what everyone believed.
“Are you sure about what you said? The wellbeing of humanity is not something to talk lightly about.”
“Completely,” Emilio didn’t hesitate in answering. He knew the seriousness of the information he had.
“Are we talking about something on the level of the industrial revolution, the existence of computers or COVID?”
“I like this line of questioning. If we do it like this I might be able to talk a little bit more,” Emilio smiled. “We are talking worse than covid, in the worst kind of sci-fi movie way.” He really hoped Marcos would understand that meant. An alien invasion is worse than COVID for sure.
“I don’t like this, Is it inevitable?” At this point Marcos was not relaxed anymore, he was really starting to feel the weight of the world on his shoulders. He had been meeting with all kinds of people for the whole weekend. How was it that no one had mentioned anything like that? Was he really the first one to hear about this?
“I think we have a chance to avoid it. That’s the reason I don’t want to hoard the information, I just want us to have the best chance.”
