Naturally, I found another kid with spiritual energy who could see me, so I made the offer. However, he refused to agree unless I extended the offer to his entire family—something that was in my best interest anyway, as I needed to increase the numbers of my race quickly.
The reason I’m here is simple: your son was offered the chance to become a member of my race, and he wanted to extend that offer to his entire family. Since that aligns with my goals, I see no reason to refuse. Besides, I can tell you're dying.
Your children can sense it subconsciously—even your younger one didn’t act surprised, shocked, or show any emotional response, which means they’ve known for some time. That’s why I’m here.
When I offered your son the chance to become a member of my race, he agreed on the condition that I extend the same deal to his whole family. It’s understandable—after all, becoming part of a race that essentially doesn’t age is a tempting offer. Why wouldn’t your family want that?
That said, I did mention that this transformation only applies if they are able to see me, since that’s one of the conditions for becoming a member of my race. To undergo the change, you must be able to see spiritual life forms and willingly give consent. This means non-sentient beings cannot be transformed. Additionally, the process requires a physical-based life form. While my kind can turn other beings into members of our race, there are certain limitations.
The parent smiled.
“Well, you can stop pretending now. So you saw through my disguise. Was it my body language?”
“Honestly, I’m just terrible at acting. Let’s be real.”
With a snap of my fingers, I switched out my current outfit for a red kimono decorated with flowers.
“Your appearance hardly changed,” they noted.
“That’s because I’m not shapeshifting or using illusion magic. Admittedly, my cross-dressing might have been somewhat deceitful, but I actually do look like this to begin with.”
“Wait—cross-dressing? You’re a dude?”
“Oh, you thought I wasn’t? Was it because you peeked under my skirt when you thought I wouldn’t notice? By the way, not very subtle. You really should work on that. Anyway, it retracts. I don’t freaking know why, but it’s convenient, and I don’t have to worry about getting kicked in the balls.
“As for why I look like… well, let’s be honest—a little girl? I have no idea. The contrast between my appearance and my height is quite interesting. I mean, I’m six feet tall—about 180 centimeters.”
I sighed. “I really should find someone better at persuading people. Not only is my acting terrible, but my blunt and indirect approach is inefficient. Then again, I suppose all the people with the necessary qualifications to become my race are still colossal weirdos, so there’s a chance they’ll agree anyway.”
“Right, your daughter might need to grow up first. If she takes my blood now, she’ll be stuck as a child forever, and that would suck. My race doesn't age, remember?
“If you agree, all you have to do is drink a drop of my blood. If a person drinks it, they’ll become a member of my race. I don’t even have to be present. Since I’ve only just started increasing our numbers, I don’t have anyone suitable for the task just yet. So, what do you say? You’ll get to see your kids grow up—something you can’t do in your current state.”

They both nodded and agreed. I slit my wrist with a wind spell and directed some drops of blood into their mouths, even giving them a vial of my blood.
“When your daughter grows up, have her drink this—only if she’s willing. If she consents, the transformation will begin. If not, well, it will just do nothing. That is, assuming I’m alive. Once I’m dead, the effects will become completely worthless. However, for those who have already turned, it won’t cause them to revert—that’s impossible. Since I’m a spiritual being, it fundamentally changes you.
“You’ll still be you, in a manner of speaking. Think of it like turning into a different version of yourself. While it fundamentally changes your essence, it does change your soul itself. So, there won’t be any personality changes—it’s more like your soul is transitioning from a human soul to a diamond soul. And yeah, I wish I could come up with a better name. The one above is totally lazy when it comes to naming things.”
Now that that’s done, I added, “You can use that drop of blood whenever you want, though I do recommend letting her grow up first. Otherwise, she’ll be stuck as a child forever. And that would suck.”
“We don’t age, right?”
“Correct. If you want to become a progenitor, though, you have to master your ‘shard.’ That’s a bit trickier. You need to reach a captain-level spiritual pressure and energy before you can even begin. And mastering your shard? That’s just the first step and maybe second is to master your shard.
“The One Above All stored massive amounts of information about my race but left out a few things—probably because they thought it would be more entertaining if I had to figure it out myself.” I sighed. “Well, whatever.”
“This is the universe where anomalies like myself usually end up. Normally, beings like me would disrupt the cosmic balance in other universes. That means you two are also anomalies. Not sure about your kids, though—oh, looks like it’s complete.”
“The last step is to destroy your bodies. That’s why you currently look all ghosty. You’ll become more solid once you do. It signifies leaving your old self behind and embracing your new self. If you don’t, you’ll be stuck as a ghost and eventually dissipate. I don’t know how long that will take—I don’t have all the answers. Anyway, even a light slap is enough to destroy your current body as long as you have the intent to do so. However, it must be done by you. Even if you were hit with a nuke, your body would remain intact. That’s just how it works.”
Without hesitation, all three of them punched their own bodies, turning them to dust. Their new forms solidified.
“Well, congratulations on being diamonds. As I said, spiritual life forms can’t be seen by ordinary people, so your life as humans is over. Since you won’t really be able to blend into human society anymore, you can do whatever you want for the time being.”
I sighed. “My plan is for us to trying to join the Soul Society. After all, I expect we’ll need a few hundred members before we can even try. It only makes sense that we cooperate with fellow spiritual life forms and at least attempt to get along with them.”
“Alright, here’s a book on magic—it also contains the basics of our race.”
“We are a three-hundred-year-old witch and a four-hundred-year-old wizard. Do you really think we would want a book on magic?” I scoffed at them.
“Go see for yourself,” I replied.
“Which one of you would be dumb enough to turn down knowledge on magic?”
“Besides, the spells in this book aren’t designed to be easy to learn. They focus on efficiency. Technically, one doesn’t even need spells to cast magic—spells just make magic easier to use and more efficient. Since these spells prioritize efficiency, they’re actually very difficult to master. But once you do, you won’t be wasting a lot of energy.”
“Well, I’ll be going now. I think I’ve converted everyone in this general area with the potential to become a member of my race.” Without hesitation, I left the house, flew into the sky, and disappeared.
I made my way back to Hope—my future wife—unlike Queen, who was apparently destined to cheat on me when we were married. It hadn’t happened yet, but I doubted the One Above All was lying; after all, he had no reason to. Honestly, it surprised me that we ended up together in the first place. However, Hope’s compatibility with me was too high for our relationship to fail—99%, or was it 99.9%? Either way, it was insanely high. Unfortunately, I could only check compatibility once per person.
I smiled. “Hope, selling all that gold on the illegal channels… went well, I assume?”
