19-Year-Olds

  1. New York.

      An old, abandoned airport.

      Five a.m.

  2.

By the road near the hangar, a sun-kissed brunet sat on the hood of a dark green car, reading a book. It had completely absorbed him—until the roar of an approaching vehicle forced him to look up. He glanced into the distance, where headlights pierced the dark.

The car, lit by old streetlamps, was racing down the airport road at incredible speed, skidding hard as it dodged obstacles.

It jerked through the turns like a cobra striking its prey—fast and dramatic. The sight was mesmerizing.

The guy slid off the hood and closed the book with its matte black cover. He stared, spellbound, unable to look away.

  “Wow.”

He loosened his tie and pulled it from his neck.

The car was flying straight at him. The screech of tires—and a red lightning bolt, breaking into a drift, came to a perfect stop, parallel to his own vehicle.

He didn’t move. His gaze stayed cold, untouched by the danger that had come so close.

The engine growled like a furious beast, then slowly faded. Smoke from the scorched rubber still curled through the air.

The young man slowly walked toward the car.

“Hi.” A soft female voice drifted from inside the car.

  Hmm… A girl? That’s unexpected.

He stepped closer and, resting one hand on the roof of the red Mustang, leaned toward the slightly open window.

  “Well, hello.”

Through the dim interior, he could make out only vague outlines of the stranger. The early morning twilight blurred the details into gray shadows. But even that couldn’t hide her snow-white hair—glowing like moonlight lost in a foreign world.

“What are you doing here so early?” the girl asked.

  “I don’t know… I don’t even remember how I got here.”

“Ha! You’re interesting.” She kept her eyes fixed on the car parked behind him.

Wow, what a beauty. I’d love to get a closer look…

“Something wrong? You local security?” the guy asked with a playful smile.

“Of course not,” the blonde laughed—bright and contagious. “Just got curious.”

  Such a warm laugh…

He couldn’t look away. “And what about you? What brings you here?”

“I was heading to New York and decided to race a little on the old airstrip. There’s plenty of space here.”

  “That’s for sure.”

“You’ve got a gorgeous car,” she looked at the vehicle again—her gaze seemed glued to the sleek lines of the body.

The guy glanced at his car, then turned back to the girl. “Thanks. Yours too.”

“Well, yeah…” she said with a faint smirk, raising an eyebrow sarcastically.

  “You drive like a pro!”

“Thanks.” She laughed again, and in her laughter was a lightness—as if everything happening was just a game.

A soft click—the car door opened. The tall blonde girl stepped out, and he finally saw the one who had been just a silhouette until now.

At that moment, he froze—struck by awe and admiration.

She walked closer. The light from an old streetlamp tucked near the roadside gently fell across her figure, pulling her out of the shadows.

The first thing that caught the eye—dazzling white hair, falling to her shoulders in soft waves. It shimmered in the dim light like silk, absorbing every trace of celestial glow.

Then his gaze stopped on her eyes—astonishing in color. The purest shade of blue, with a faint pink shimmer, as if the morning sky were reflected in the petals of blooming sakura. Snow-white lashes and brows emphasized her fragile, almost otherworldly beauty.

The girl bit her lower lip, studying the car behind him with focused attention.

Her skin—pale as porcelain—drew the eye. Everything about her appearance spoke of a rare nature—she was an albino.

A white top and black shorts framed her graceful figure—a simple yet perfect contrast.

She, like the guy, was around nineteen. She was so mesmerizingly beautiful that he lost the ability to speak for a moment.

She’s so beautiful… Like a bright moon in the night’s darkness, flashed through his mind.

The stranger slowly circled his car, gently running her palm along its smooth body.

“Magnificent,” she said, without taking her eyes off it.

Agreed… You’re stunning. I’ve never met a girl like you.

Flashed through his mind as he hungrily followed her every movement. She, meanwhile, was completely absorbed in admiring the emerald Dodge, as if everything else had ceased to exist.

  “You like it?”

The girl gave a quiet smirk, glancing at him with a mischievous smile.

“Are you kidding? A 1970 Dodge Charger.”

Her gaze shifted to the hood—dreamy, with restrained admiration.

  “Can I open it?”

“Yeah, of course!” he walked to the door and pulled the lever beneath the steering wheel. A dull click echoed from inside the cabin.

She lifted the hood—and gasped in delight.

  “No way… This is a 9-liter twin-turbo V8 with 1600 horsepower!”

Without hesitation, the blonde dropped straight onto the asphalt to look under the car.

What struck him wasn’t just her interest but the ease with which she slipped beneath the chassis—as if she’d done it a hundred times before.

“Custom suspension and reinforced frame,” she explained, crawling out. “To make sure all that metal can handle the power.”

She straightened up and added with admiration, “It’s gorgeous.”

  He offered her his hand.

“Thanks,” she replied, touching his palm.

In that instant, he pulled her toward him—so close their breath mingled, and their lips hovered at the edge of something dangerous, where the slightest movement would turn tension into a kiss.

  Brown eyes met sky-blue.

The moment froze, stretching into eternity. In that instant, there was no time, no cars, no world—only them.

  …

  Can this moment last forever?

The stranger’s allure was driving him mad—too fast, too strong.

She was the first to snap out of it, stepping back once, then again.

Something inexplicable sparked inside her, like electricity racing through every cell.

A wave of sensation burned from within—and refused to let go.

Strange… All it took was our eyes meeting, and every worry melted away like snow under the first spring sun. Time froze in this fragile, beautiful moment—beside her.

The girl leaned toward the car again, continuing her inspection—but now, a hint of awkwardness flickered in her gaze.

He was stunned by her knowledge—with every word, she surprised him more. She reminded him of an excited child standing before a mountain of ice cream. The comparison made him smile. Her sincerity and passion for detail—no doubt, he liked them.
