Central Spirit City (pt7)

Milliard told me the story of the end of their battle. This is the most accurate retelling I could derive from his gibberish and baby talk. Gray broke through a stalemate in the battle as he decimated Milliard with two decisive slashes that shattered Milliard’s chest armor. Milliard wavered and relief surged within Gray. Suddenly, Milliard lowered himself into a battle stance and smiled. “Playtime’s over. Light Craft, Progress Art 1, Righteous Ire!” His body took on an immaculate, golden glow and he rocketed toward Gray at unparalleled speeds. SLICE! SLICE! SLICE! SLICE! SLICE! SLICE! SLICE! He masterfully executed a rapid cacophony of 20 consecutive slashes. Each strike tore through Gray’s armor and left him mutilated. Milliard readied the 21st, final, lethal blow when he felt a sinister presence. CRASH! Before he could react, he was smacked by an unseen force and sent through the stands. He looked up and saw the Green-Eyed Spirit. It stood defensively between Gray and Milliard. Milliard noticed his Spirit Energy had been sapped, and he felt a burning sensation along the right side of his body. His flesh had deteriorated and was blackening as infection spread. I’ve never seen a spirit like that before. Its Spirit Energy is off the charts, and I can’t move my right arm anymore. I’ve wasted too much energy messing around, and I can’t get home if I burn out the rest on an Esoteric Art. He glanced at the spirit. And that thing looks like bad news; my best bet is to scare it away. Milliard gave the spirit a thumbs up. “You’re a quick one. I can’t remember the last time I was genuinely caught off guard.” He stood tall and smiled. “But I could do this all day.” He pointed at Gray’s limp, disfigured body. “Let's see how tough you are, I hope you’ll be a little stronger than that guy who needs life support over there.” He shrugged. “Who knows, maybe you’ll even force me to break out the Prism Blade for the first time.” The spirit spoke in a sinister, distorted tone. “Shut your mouth filth! I should deliver you to the grave for what you have done to my brother, but father has granted the privilege of taking your life to another for now. Consider yourself honored.” He pointed a long, mangled finger. “Let it be known that if you ever cross my path again, I will snuff your light OUT!” The spirit collected Gray and faded into the darkness. Milliard mocked. “And then he said, if you ever cross my path again, I will snuff your light OUT! He’s so dramatic. But anyway, he went WHOOOOSH, and they both disappeared. The end.” I facepalmed. One area that he is not undefeated in is the art of storytelling. I sighed. “Ok, but why did that spirit attack me? It seemed like it knew me or something. It kept smiling at me and it called out to me in my friend’s voice when I was about to get away.” “Really? That is quite interesting. That will be good information to add to my debrief.” He paused and nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders. “But to answer your question, I have no idea. I’ve never seen a spirit quite like that one before. All I know is it is certainly quite dangerous. I’m not even sure if any of the other Archigos could defeat that thing. It certainly had the third most sinister presence I’ve ever experienced…” “What kind of spirit had the first?” He glanced at me and then looked away. “I unfortunately can’t speak on that at this time.” “Aww, are you holding out on me? What’s wrong? Did a spirit get the big bad Archigos scared...What even is an Archigos?” He shuddered. “Yes…it did. Never once have I felt so helpless in my entire life. Its power was completely overwhelming, even to me. I had no place facing off against it…and I’m not sure if I ever will. If it had not disappeared when it did…I would be a dead man right now.” His words chilled me to the bone. “Hey man, I’m sorry for teasing you…I…” He stared blankly into the street ahead. “No, it’s fine. I hate to end things on a sour note but there are other important matters I must attend to. There will be plenty of time for questions. For now, let's head to the palace.” Before I could react, I was in the air, over his shoulder and we were beaming to the palace. I was able to stay awake a bit longer before passing out this time.
