Episode 7 – Three Men and Some Food – Part 4; Not Three Anymore.

EXTERIOR - The streets of Ruttford, a retively rge mining town situated just beside a rge and resource rich ravine. The dangerous and unpredictable nature of the mines make this town a great hub for adventurers and mercenaries looking to make a quick buck. The buildings are stout and thick, and commonly painted in darker shades of brown. This serves no practical purpose, but it gives the town a gruffer vibe, which appeals to the previously mentioned mercenaries and adventurers.

PRESENT - THE BOY (cospying as the girl, but the hat says “BUG” on it, currenlty hanging over Jok's arm like a sack of flour, holding two take-out boxes in his hands), MOUSE RATTINGTON (Tall, lithe, very elegant man with blond hair, green eyes, and a green/gold robe), JOK (rge, burly, retively older man with tasteful facial hair, and less tasteful artificially greased and bckened hair.) ALSO A SIZEABLE HELPING OF RANDOM PASSERBY, MINERS, TOWNSOLK AND MAYBE SOME COLORFUL, IF UNMPORTANT ADVENTURERS

TIME - Approaching dinner time, but not yet.

"And where shall we go?" Mouse asked, because awkward silence was beneath him.

"I dunno, just- Somewhere! Something!" Jok shouted. Fortunately, the passersby have rgely lost interest in him by now. "I'm full, my blood's flowin', I'm ready to MOVE but all we've done is sit and talk! Lizards be damned, let's just go do SOMETHING! L-Like..."

  "Like?" Mouse egged him on.

"AH! We're in Ruttford- The mines! May as well be the mines!"

"The miiiiines?" Mouse's voice was tinged with a very faint whine. "But the mines are so dirty..."

  "You say that about everywhere!"

"That's because everywhere is dirty." Mouse gave a very faint shrug. "As is everyone, for that matter."

"Whatever! Let's go to the mines!" Jok excims, turning right around towards the opposite direction. "We'll take the boy too! Why not!"

"Oooooh, delightful." A grin befell Mouse's face, his voice steadily taking on a more theatrical tone. "Yes, I would very much like to see the boy caught in the throes of action."

"Yeah, sure, whatever!" Jok was hardly listening, instead focusing on maintaining his march down the street, STRAIGHT to the mines. "C'mon-"

"i do not think that is a good idea." At st, the boy spoke up from Jok's shoulder.

"Come now, boy!" Mouse's theatrical tone only rose with each word, and he began to raise a fist in rousing excitement. "Show me your pride, your adventurous spir-"

"i believe hat does not want to wait longer for her food." The boy simply stated.

The two men stopped dead in their tracks at the mention of the girl's existence. Mouse's jaw was still agape, as he was mid-speech.

"though i do wish to sense the things and happenings within these mines." The boy added during the silence. "but i want to return to hat soon even more."

"Ah... Yeah, that... Yeah." Little beads of sweat formed on Jok's brow. He knew better than to stray from a direct agreement with the girl. Especially when it involved food.

  "Hm. Quite."

At once, the men turned around, and SPEEDwalked towards the edge of town. Once they were there, Jok gently pced the box-carrying boy upon the windswept grass.

"So, uh, yeah, have a safe fast trip back and all that." Jok gave the swiftest of goodbyes before turning around.

"Ah, and we WILL be getting in touch in the near future, boy!" Mouse called out as the boy nodded and began to walk away, himself. "For portraiture and other things!"

The boy turned and nodded with slightly more intensity in response. Following that, he turned and again began the journey east, to the trees, the hills, and over the windswept grasses. Back to the girl's secret base.

  ...

The two men watched the boy as he went, at least for a while. For a moment, they contempted tailing him, to finally find out the true nature of the girl's secret base.

Such a thought only sted a handful of seconds, until their self-preservation instincts reminded them that they really ought to just stay put.

And so, they watched the boy as he went. For, like, a minute. It wont take much longer.

"..." Jok squints, and gnces back up towards his friend, still keeping his gaze firmly on the boy. "So... I didn't wanna say this while he could still hear it, but are we CERTAIN he's not a vengeful wizard?"

Mouse squinted, and opened his mouth to speak.

  . . .

  "Doubtful." Mouse concludes.
