Chapter 321 - Exponential Enchanting

While Tee-one enchanted the diamonds, Ren took the time to check his status, since he hadn't done it in a while. He had been in the Water Realm for a long time, and wondered what his stats looked like now.

Whoa. Ren thought. Look at those numbers! He was surprised so much had been added to his stats, but then, he thought about how long he'd been playing the game up to the point before going into the Water Realm, and nodded mentally. A year and a half doing hard labour definitely will bring your stats up.

Now that he had the chance, Ren also checked the popups he had missed during the time he'd been logged out. He had missed 3 full days and 3 popups each for the Church and it's Knowledge bonuses, and for the status of the ship. He only glanced at the others, but read trough the ones from the night before.

They're slowly creeping up. Ren thought. I wonder how long it's going to take to master them? He asked himself, then looked at the ship status popup.

The number of passengers hasn't changed. Ren thought. We lost the water elemental and gained Railyse.

“I've got the first two sets done.” Tee-one said and handed Ren 2 each of Intelligence, Wisdom, Mana Production and Mana Boost enchanted diamonds.

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

“Great.” Ren said and used his Double Infusion skill to enchant them again, to make them have a total of 100 runes each. He smiled and checked the bracelet he was going to put them in.

Ren took 1 of each enchanted diamond and used his Gemsetting skill to set them into one of the bracelets, then used another Mana Boost and Mana Production to fill the last two spots. When he examined it, he chuckled.

“Now that's a thing of beauty!” Ren said, and handed it to Tee-one. “Put this on.”

“Thank you.” Tee-one said and the bonuses took effect immediately. “You're right, that's fantastic.”

“It'll be even better in a minute.” Ren said and Tee-one handed him the next set of jewels to enchant. Ren made the second bracelet and gave it to Tee-one.

“Shouldn't you take this one?” Tee-one asked.

“I'll take the next one.” Ren said and handed Tee-one a blank bracelet. “I need you to make this a Bracelet of Magic, though.”

Tee-one activated Craft Wondrous Item and made the bracelet, then handed it back to Ren.

“Thanks.” Ren said and used his Retain Essence skill to absorb the enchantment from his Bracelet of Importance. He used Double Infusion to add the enchantment to the new bracelet, then added the extra gems and equipped it.

“There we go.” Ren said, and examined the completed bracelet. “Oh, my.”

“Sweet!” Ren said, then looked at the other bracelet he still wore. He had hoped that removing the enchantment would also take the restrictions off of it; but it didn't. He was stuck with it until he died and it dropped off.

“You can always put something else on it.” Tee-one said. “I don't know what, though.”

Ren took out some fabric and made a cloak, then activated his Craft Wondrous Item ability and put the cloak onto the 1 foot square gold platform that appeared. He chose the recipe for Cloak of Major Displacement and a few moments later, it was done. Ren used his Retain Essence ability to absorb the enchantment, and transferred it to the useless bracelet.

“Show info for the Displacement spell.” Ren said.

“Crap.” Ren said. “Well, lets do it the hard way.” He said and looked at the bracelet. Activate!

To an outside observer, Ren disappeared from where he was and reappeared 2 feet away. Teepo however, was still on the concealed Ren's shoulder.

“It's like partial invisibility.” Tee-one said. “It looks like you're over there...” He pointed. “...but, you're really right here.” He said and pointed to the invisible Ren. “Teepo's giving you away.”

“Sorry, Ren.” Teepo said. “I'll take off.”

“No.” Ren said, and the voice came from his displaced image. “Let me try something.” He took out his Revealing Light diamond and activated it, and both he and Teepo appeared.

“Okay, that's weird.” Teepo said. “There's two of you.”

Ren moved his hand, and the displaced image moved it's hand at the same time.

“Actually, I think it's kind of cool.” Both of the Ren's said. They lifted a foot, did a little kick, and stood still. “Neat.”

Ren deactivated the bracelet and the displaced Ren disappeared, then he looked at the Revealing Light diamond. “Ha.” He said, dipped the end of it into the smelter, and attached it to the bracelet. “There. The perfect combo.”

“When are you ever going to need something like that?” Teepo asked, curious.

“No idea.” Ren said and shrugged. “It looks like a good delay tactic, though.”

“Or a good trick to play on someone.” Tee-one said, and Teepo chittered in laughter. “I've got more diamonds enchanted.”

“How's your Mana holding up?” Ren said and grinned.

“I've barely used any of the 20,000 Mana the bracelets grant me.” Tee-one said. “That's not counting the Mana the 210 Intelligence and 210 Wisdom give me.”

Ren chuckled. “I'm tempted to modify this one.” He said and held up the Displacement bracelet. “But, it drops when I die. I don't want to enhance it too much.”

Tee-one nodded. “How are your stats now, with just the one bracelet on?”

“Let me check.” Ren said. “Show Status.”

“Holy crap!” Ren exclaimed. “My... my Mana is at 13,463.” He said, shocked. “That means... my Mana Pool with the bracelet boosters...”

“Since your Mana Pool is 3 times that...” Tee-one said.

“I've got 40,389 Mana in the Mana Pool.” Ren blinked his eyes a few times in disbelief. “That's... holy crap!”

Tee-one smiled. “If you had two bracelets, with the bonuses you'd have almost 34,000 more Mana in the Mana Pool.”

“By the gods.” Ren whispered. “No wonder enchanters guard their work, and the runes they discover, with their lives.”

Tee-one nodded, then he and Ren kept working for several hours and made 24 more bracelets with 144 more double-infused enchanted diamonds.

“Ren, why did you only have 6 of them when we started?” Tee-one asked when they finished the last one.

“Surprisingly, it's difficult to find iron ore in the Water Realm.” Ren said. “I don't know why, though.”

“What did you use for crafting the whole time you were there?”

“Every scrap of metal I could find.” Ren said. “I actually emptied the castle of every weapon, shield, and armor it had on display and smelted them.” He said and chuckled. “They weren't too happy about that at first; but, when I replaced everything and made it with the tons of smelted gold that was really easy to find...”

“You only used a small amount of iron to harden the gold?”

Ren nodded. “Just enough to let it retain it's Durability, then I enchanted it to strengthen it.”

“Good idea.” Tee-one said. “It'll last a long time like that.”

“That's why they didn't skin me alive, or feed me to the octopus.” Ren said and laughed. “When they inspected the replacements and discovered how long they would last, they gave me the Waterkin title.”

“Which gave you the Water Manipulation skill.”

“Which I mastered after a year of using it.” Ren said. “You wouldn't believe how hard it was to manipulate water inside of water!”

“It was something, let me tell you.” Teepo chittered in laughter. “Railyse and the others couldn't stop laughing.”

“Hey, they grew up doing it!” Ren said to defend himself, then he also laughed. “It was pretty funny, though.”

“The instructor didn't like having his butt whacked like that!” Teepo chittered in delight. “Ren had to spend 2 weeks in isolation after that.”

“I never lost control like that again.” Ren said. “The instructor always kept an eye on me...”

“...and his butt...” Teepo volunteered, and Ren smiled.

“...but...” Ren grinned. “I showed them all that I could do it.” He said. “I even got a popup for the running quest Donan gave me all that time ago.”

“I'm glad.” Tee-one said. “So, what do we do next?”

“Rings.” Ren said. “Let's grab a few paving stones and carve out a bunch of normal rings.” He said took out his carving tools. “Let's play with what we can create, and then transfer the enchantments into them.”

For the next hour, they carved out paving stones into ring molds. Ren was tempted to make one for the bottom half of the ring and one for the top; but, that added too much extra work for something that resizes for the wearer anyways. They took their time and carefully made perfectly round ring holes in their paving stones. Once the molds were done, they could reuse it as many times as they wanted.

They added gold ore to the smelter to bring up the value of the rings and the amount of enchantments it could hold, and stirred it vigorously. When it was ready, they poured their molds and Ren absorbed the heat from them. Each mold held 100 rings, so with both of their molds filled, they had 200 rings after a single casting.

“Is 200 enough to play and test with?” Tee-one asked.

“No, we better do a thousand.” Ren said. “Just in case.”

Tee-one chuckled and poured the molten metal into the molds, and Ren stood ready to absorb the heat again.
