Han Xi pulls up her stat window and reviews her current stats, preparing for her trip back to the forest. ‘Based on the quest I was given, I am going to need to sy 7 frost boars. Last time, when I was facing 3 frosthorn deer, I was so exhausted I fell asleep after the third.’ Her eyes move down to her stamina stat. ‘I need to make sure that I finish this quest on time, which means, I will need to preserve my stamina, and not allow myself to get so tired I fall asleep again.’ Her eyes then move over to her strength stat. ‘Frost boars also sound like they’ll be more aggressive, so I also need to improve my strength.’
After considering her options, she decides to increase her strength stat by 7 and her stamina by 8. ‘Okay, my stats are now all allocated! Now what about a new attacking skill. Using [Bite] and [Scratch] all the time feels tacky.’ She scrolls through the store until she finds something that catches her eye.
[Tail Whip]Deals blunt force damage to your opponent by hitting them with your tail.Cost: 5 Skill Points
Han Xi’s eye twitches with irritation and starts stomping her paws on top of Xu Hao’s head, causing him to wonder what's gotten into her. ‘What the hell, System, do you think I am a poke… something?! First it's Scratch, Bite, and Growl and now Tail Whip?! I can’t seem to remember the whole name, but something is telling me it's best I don't say it, unless I want to get sued. Wait, what does that even mean?? System, I better recover more of my memories soon!!’
[As stated prior, your soul is still in shock and recovering memories will take time. Please be patient, host.]
She rolls her eyes and sighs, ‘Well, it doesn't really matter right now. That skill looks like it might be useful, so I am going to get it anyway.’
[Thank you for your purchase.]
Han Xi squints her eyes at her system's response, surprised there was, once again, no punchline. ‘What, are you done making jokes? Well, whatever, I have more important issues to tend to.’
“Everything okay up there? You're acting quite lively.” Xu Hao says with an amused smile. Her strange and sudden changes in behavior always confuse Xu Hao, but once again, he decides to dismiss it, thinking Han Xi is just being her unique self.
She nods her head and points her paw at the door, indicating she is ready to go. “Ok, ok, we can get going now.” Xu Hao stands up and starts walking towards the door, getting ready to leave. “Bye, Lei Yue, I’ll see you when I get back.”
Lei Yue looks towards him and smiles. “Please be sure to be back before sun down, okay?” she reminds Xu Hao warmly.
Xu Hao turns around and replies, “Don’t worry, I won't stay out past sundown. I wouldn't want to worry you too much. Also, Elder Fu will be with us, so we will be safe.” he says, trying to put her at ease.
Lei Yue sighs, leaning back in her chair. “Alright, just don’t keep me waiting. I'll have food ready for you when you get home.”
He nods, and then opens the door to leave the house. Outside, Elder Fu is already waiting for him. He is wearing a long earthy-brown coat made from the pelt of a frosthorn deer, with the fur of a rabbit on its colr. In his hands, a long spear with a pointed metal tip.
Elder Fu smiles as Xu Hao approaches. “Ready to go?”, he says, with a hint of excitement in this voice.
“Yes, we are ready. Let's start at my camp first, and proceed from there.” Xu Hao replied, starting to make his way towards the gate.
The two both exit the vilge and follow the path to Xu Hao’s campground. When they arrive, Xu Hao takes some dry wood from under the fabric and throws it into the fire pit. He ignites it and the two sit down briefly to take a break and come up with a pn.
Han Xi jumps off of Xu Hao’s head and sits near the fire.

Surprised by this notification, Han Xi smiles brightly. ‘Wow, this skill is leveling up effortlessly thanks to my system running it in the background. It almost seems too quickly.’
Elder Fu looks at Han Xi, amused at her strange facial expressions. “Is she always this expressive?” he asks, intrigued by her strange reactions.
“Yes, she does act like this sometimes. It's as if she is reacting to something we can’t see or hear.” Elder Fu nods in agreement, both of them still completely stumped why she acts this way.
[[Radar] is detecting 2 beings moving around to the west of camp.]
Han Xi’s head snaps out of her daze from thinking about her system and looks towards where she was told the beings were. She runs towards that direction, stopping shortly after to look back at the two on the log, waiting for them to follow her. They both get up and begin running after Han Xi.
“M-Miss Han Xi, wait for us!” Xu Hao yells out, chasing after her as quickly as he can. While not as fast as Han Xi, Elder Fu is not too far off behind her.
As Han Xi approaches the 2 beings, her ears drop dejectedly, as she sees they are not frost boars, but actually just more frosthorn deer. In her frustration, she catches up to one of them and sshes at its neck using [Ssh], deeply cutting its neck and cutting its jugur vein. She gives it one final swipe, before the deer falls to the ground and succumbs to its injuries.
She then quickly catches up to the other deer and dispatches it simirly. Han Xi looks back and sees that Elder Fu is the first one to catch up to her, his jaw completely agape at the viciousness he had just witnessed. Never before has he seen something, so small, kill with such ease.

‘I guess it takes 2 of those frosthorn deer to level up now? Oh well, it still feels way too easy to me. Now, with my stamina increased, I’m only a little winded compared to before!’ she says happily in her mind, content with her stat choices. ‘Not to mention, my increased strength allows me to dispatch these deer with just my [Scratch] skill now! I hadn’t even considered reducing my stamina consumption by increasing my attack power.’
As Elder Fu continues to process what has unfolded in front of him, his eye twitches from disbelief. Meanwhile, Xu Hao has finally caught up to the group, already out of breath. He lets out winded ughter after seeing Elder Fu’s dumbstruck expression.
“I had the same expression the first time I saw her take down the frosthorn deer I brought back earlier. It’s unbelievable, right?” Xu Hao says while admiring Han Xi’s handiwork.
“Unbelievable is an understatement… this may very well be unprecedented. Xu Hao, you must nurture this fox cub at all costs. We need her as an ally to our vilge.” Elder Fu looks at Xu Hao with a serious expression as he tries to rey the importance of his words.
[[Radar] is detecting 3 beings nearby to the north.]
‘Alright, let's go grind some EXP!’ Without warning, Han Xi takes off in the direction of the newly detected beings. Meanwhile, Xu Hao looks at her in horror, as he is still trying to catch his breath. Elder Fu rushes to catch up with Han Xi, meanwhile, Xu Hao quickly stores the 2 deer into his storage pouch, and follows Elder Fu, straggling behind.
As she approaches the 3 beings, they finally come into view. ‘Finally, those look like they are boars, I'm pretty sure? Right?’
[This system is not currently equipped with an appraisal skill. However, based on your [Guide to the Immortal World (Beginner)] book, those beings do indeed appear to be frost boars.]
Han Xi wags her tail happily as she has finally found what she was looking for. ‘So there are appraisal skills, System? I will have to take a look at the store ter, as I definitely need one!’
Elder Fu catches up with Han Xi, only for his loud footsteps to startle the 3 frost boars in front of Han Xi. ‘Seriously?! Why do you have to be so loud when you run?!’ This causes the frost boars to charge at both Han Xi and Elder Fu. ‘Fuck! They are coming right for us!’
Han Xi narrowly dodges out of the way of the frost boars. Right after she thought she was in the clear, she looks back at the frost boars and notices they hadn't turned back to her, rather, they are actually charging straight at Elder Fu! He takes a defensive position, prepared to lunge his spear at the charging boars. However, there are simply too many of them to handle on his own.
Han Xi quickly activates her [Sprint] skill, and runs as fast as she can to catch up with the boars. She manages to catch up but realizes she won't be able to kill all of them quickly enough to prevent Elder Fu from getting hurt.
‘Wait, If I can’t kill them all fast enough, maybe knocking them out will work for now!’ She lunges in the air, flying over the 3 charging frost boars, and spins her body, activating [Tail Whip] managing to smash all 3 of them in the head, 1 after the other, causing them to look down towards the ground. As their heads hit the ground, their horns get stuck, causing them all to flip over onto their backs.

Once she makes contact with the ground again, she quickly darts back towards the boars as to not give them a chance to recover, and starts repeatedly using [Tail Whip] on all 3 of them, now being sure to avoid their head. ‘What the hell kind of title is that?! Well, at least it's useful. Anyway, this is what you get for ignoring me! Become my EXP and skill level fodder!’

Han Xi sits down, feeling tired, and somewhat dizzy from the flood of system notifications. ‘Well, it looks like killing those boars were totally worth it! Each one of them gave me a whole level! They were definitely more durable than the frosthorn deer, so maybe that's why?’
Xu Hao finally manages to catch up to the two, breathing heavily. When he finally stops walking, he joins Elder Fu in his disbelief as he notices Han Xi’s haul.
“H-How did you?!” Xu Hao says in disbelief, only for Elder Fu to raise his hand, signaling Xu Hao to stop talking.
“I don’t know how, or why you are this strong, little fox. But it is clear to me, you are far stronger than anyone in our little vilge. Thank you, for saving my life. I owe you a great debt.” Elder Fu says solemnly. “Though… your methods are oddly cruel. You could have dispatched them right away when they were on their backs, yet you chose to keep beating them up with your tail. I wonder why that is.” he says, gncing at her suspiciously, but ultimately breaking the tense situation with a massive smile. “But that doesn't matter for now. What matters is we will be eating well tonight! Isn't that right, Xu Hao?!” he says while ughing, elbowing Xu Hao in the stomach pyfully.
Xu Hao clutches his stomach as the air is blown out of him by Elder Fu, causing him to gasp for air, more so than he already was. His gasp causes Elder Fu to look back at Xu Hao apologetically. “I uh, sorry about that. I didn't mean to knock what little wind was left in you out.”
“I-Its fine.” Xu Hao says, trying to catch his breath. “Let’s head back to camp for now, so Han Xi and I can rest. She looks like she could use a break.” Though, Xu Hao was mainly referring to himself, as while Han Xi was breathing a little faster than normal, she still had enough energy to keep going. But as to not overwork her personal chef, she decides to relent and follow his suggestion.
Xu Hao puts all 3 frost boars into his storage pouch, and the 3 of them start to walk back to the camp.
Meanwhile, Han Xi feels something is off. ‘System said the quest was medium difficulty, right? So why does this feel easy…'
