Han Xi slowly opens her eyes, waking up from a deep slumber. As her vision comes into focus, she sees an unexpected scene. Above her is a woman with long dark hair looking straight ahead at something out of her view. She's wearing a white cy sweater and dark brown gsses and has a rexed expression. The room is somewhat dark, and a subtle fshing light can be seen against the ceiling and walls.

  Noticing that her eyes have opened, the dy looks down and smiles gently, making eye contact with her. “Good morning~” she says in a sweet, caring voice.

  The scene starts to become blurry before fading to bck. Now, opening her eyes for a second time, she looks up again and sees Xu Hao looking down at her, marveling at how adorable she is while she sleeps. She stands up and realizes that she is now standing on his p.

  “Good morning, or rather, good evening.” he says, looking down at the fox cub.

  Embarrassed, she jumps off his p and puts a little distance between them. She immediately starts checking her surroundings, trying to figure out where she is. She notices she is still in the snowy forest, and it has started to become dark outside. Her surroundings are lit up by the flickering light coming from a campfire. Xu Hao remains sitting on a log next to the campfire, giggling at her reaction to waking up on his p.

  “I'm sorry, Miss Han Xi, I didn't mean to startle you. We are at a camp I set up in the forest. I come here during my trips to hunt for food.”

  ‘Oh yeah. I passed out earlier when I was following him and let him carry me to his camp.’ Her body rexes as she realizes that she should be safe. If he was going to do anything to her, he would have already done so.

  ‘What was that dream I just had? It felt so real, I thought I was already awake.’ While thinking about this, Xu Hao notices something strange and decides to speak up.

  “Miss Han Xi… you're crying? Are you well?” Xu Hao asks worriedly, hoping he didn't do anything to upset her.

  ‘I'm crying? Why am I crying? Maybe it was from that dream I had.’ Using her paw, she wipes the tears from the sides of her face.

  [While you slept, you appear to have seen a glimpse of a memory from your past life.]

  ‘That was a memory from my past life as a human? Who was that dy? Since I'm crying, maybe she was important to me?’ Her ears droop down a bit as she reminisces about her dream. Deciding it's no use worrying about it right now, her ears perk back up, and she nods her head, letting Xu Hao know she is fine.

  “I'm gd you're well. You slept quite a while; the entire day has already gone by! But that's okay. Looking at your fur, you probably exhausted yourself quite a bit today.” He repositions himself while sitting on the log, trying to make himself more comfortable. “Why don't I cook that rabbit up for you?”

  ‘I've been waiting for this moment my whole life! This is technically true, since this is pretty much my first day here. Finally, some COOKED MEAT!’ Nodding her head enthusiastically, she looks at Xu Hao with shining bright wide eyes as she imagines how much better it will be cooked.

  He ughs hysterically as he sees the fox cub's overly enthusiastic reply to his offer. After he calms down, he takes the rabbit's corpse out of his storage pouch and starts to cook it over the campfire. Han Xi approaches the campfire, staring at the meat in a near trance state as her nose fills with a savory aroma. Once it was done cooking, Xu Hao took the rabbit off of the fire and gave it to her.

  “Here you go, please, enjoy it.” he says in a cheery voice, savoring the moment.

  Wasting absolutely no time, she sinks her fangs into the rabbit's flesh, ripping its meat off the bone. Tears start to form around the corners of her eyes once again as the taste of the rabbit causes her to experience pure bliss for the first time in her current life.

  ‘I… I never want to eat raw meat again. I must do everything in my power to convince him to cook for me every day.’ Determined to make him into her personal chef, she looks at him cutely, swaying her tail, trying to appeal to him using the cute side of her. She was fully intending to take advantage of his good will.

  Watching Han Xi act cute in front of him, his heart skips a beat as he becomes completely endeared with this little fox. If he could, he would protect her forever, though he knows that's not something reasonable that can be expected. He is a human who doesn't have any cultivation potential, so how could he protect her? He is not even sure he is capable of cultivating.

  Chuckling a little bit, he asks Han Xi “Is that your way of saying you like it and want me to cook for you from now on?” Looking slightly shocked that he guessed her intentions with little effort on his part, she nods with a defeated expression.

  ‘He understood what I was trying to say on my first attempt. Am I really that easy to read?’ After, she goes back to finishing eating the meat from the cooked rabbit in front of her.

  “Yes, you are that easy to read.” he says with a smirk on his face.

  Han Xi immediately spits out the meat in shock, thinking for just a moment, he can read her thoughts. Realizing he figured it out on his own, she gets irritated and walks towards him, jumps up, and smacks his cheek with her paw again, with a little more force than st time.

  ‘You know, you could really use a lesson or two on what to and not to say!’ She looks up at him irritated for a second, before going back to the rabbit.

  “Ouch… I’m sorry for offending you, Miss Han Xi. I’ll be more careful with what I say going forward.” he says with an apologetic expression, not quite understanding what he said that upset her.

  She looks back at him and nods, indicating she forgives him. She brings her head down to the rabbit and finishes off the st few pieces of meat left on its bones.

  ‘Yeah! I leveled up again! I should probably take a look at my status screen soon to see all of these new changes.’ As she makes a mental note to take a look at her stats, Xu Hao decides to speak up.

  “It’s getting very te, and the sun has almost completely set. While this camp does have shelter, It would probably be best if I returned to my vilge. I have someone waiting for me at home. Are you able to get back to your den from here?” he asks, secretly wishing he could spend more time with her today.

  Realizing that she has no idea where she is, she starts to panic. ‘Oh no, I don't know where I am! He carried me here after I passed out, so I don't know where here is in retion to where I fell asleep!’ Shaking her head, her expression turns worried as she is unsure what to do. She could just stay here for the night, but this is an unfamiliar area, and that makes her nervous.

  He thinks for a moment, and then he comes up with an idea. “It’s too te for me to walk you back to your den right now. I’m not sure if I would be able to make it back safely. Would you be interested in coming back to my residence for the night?” He averts her gaze nervously, realizing how sketchy of an offer this is. He has not even cleared this with Lei Yue back at home.

  ‘Isn’t this how people usually get abducted? It’s my beautiful fur he’s after, isn't it! Well, I guess it could be prettier, considering I am still covered in blood. Though that wouldn’t really matter, since he can just clean it off.’ She makes a nervous expression, thinking about what might happen if she agrees.

  “It also looks like you're in dire need of a bath. I’d be more than happy to help you clean your fur. It would be a shame if the blood dyed your beautiful white fur red.”

  ‘HE WANTS MY FUR, I KNEW IT! HE EVEN WANTS TO CLEAN IT, JUST LIKE I SAID!’ Immediately, she activates her [Growl] skill and tries to intimidate him.

  “W-What did I do?! I am sorry, Miss Han Xi! I truly mean no harm!” He starts to panic, thinking he said something that made her fear for her life. In reality, she is caught up in her own delusions.

  ‘Wait, I already established if he wanted to hurt me, he would have already done so. So there's no reason to think that's truly why he wants to do this. Maybe he is just really that nice of a person?’ As her growling ceases, she looks up at him apologetically, trying to convey she misunderstood him. After walking up to him, she sits down and yawns sleepily.

  “No need to look so apologetic, I’m sure you just misunderstood me.” He extends his right hand down towards Han Xi and gently caresses the fur on her head. Her ears twitch as he pets her head, feeling conflicted inside.

  ‘I like how this feels, but it feels strange letting a human pet me. Maybe It's because I was a once a human myself? Well, it doesn't really matter now, since I’m a fox.’ Yawning a bit louder this time, she ys down, being lulled back to sleep from the heat of the campfire and the crackling sounds of the burning wood.

  “If you’re too tired to walk, I can carry you back to my vilge, if that's okay with you?” Looking down at the little fox next to his feet, he smiles, feels a warm feeling flow through his body as she nods her head sleepily, her ears flopping over to the side. Whether he is willing to admit it or not, he adores cute and fluffy animals, even though he has to hunt those very animals for food.

  He picks her up off the ground and holds her in his arms. After extinguishing the fire by kicking snow on it, he starts making his way back towards his vilge.

  ‘I’m so sleepy… but I made a lot of progress today. Let me take one more look at my stats before I take a nap.’
