  "Urgent news!" The knight gasped, staggering toward the assembled captains. His uniform was torn, and his face dripped with sweat.

  "What is it?" Julius asked, stepping forward, though his torayed unease.

  The knight swallowed hard before speaking. "Many nobles and royals… have been assassinated. Shadowy figures cloaked in bfiltrated the capital while we were occupied in the Shadow Pace. We couldn't stop them. They struck swiftly, targeting high-ranking families, and vanished before we could apprehend them."

  "What?" Nozel erupted, grabbing the soldier by the colr. His posed demeanor shattered as fury overtook him. "How could this happen? Where were the guards?"
