CHAPTER 104: Stat Reset – A Power that Challenges the Divine

A flood of questions rushed through Daisuke’s mind, but there was no time for deliberatio alone celebration.

The posure stat kept his focus locked otle, preventing even a moment of distra. With a clear pn in mind, he muttered, “Stat Reset.” To his astonishment, not only were his regur stats reset, but even the normally untouchable Special Stats had reverted as well.

“Any st words?” Ranger scoffed, his ons glinting in the ambient light as he raised them.

Tuning out the man’s theatrics, Daisuke cast an the shinobi’s Status Window. There, he observed a fident sacrifice of Stamina, evidently made uhe assumption that he could swiftly overwhelm his enemies with explosive speed and agility—traits likely enhanced by the Shadow Step skill.

Daisuke didn’t o deliberate for too long, though it took siderable mental effort to redistribute his stats to his desired ratio solely through calcutio, with his life hanging in the bance, he swiftly and effitly pleted the task.

Ranger clicked his tongue in irritation, his gaze clouded with bitterness. It irked him to be ignored, especially by quarry who usually would have already begun pleading for their lives.

But he didn’t have the time to indulge himself with torture, not when his forces were decimated and his puppet was vioted to death by a beast. Right now it was imperative that he promptly found himself a fitting rept.

“Pity I didn’t figure out who you’re affiliated with,” Ranger muttered with disdain, his bicep flexing as he tightened his grip around his on. “But I want you to die knowing that they will all be following right behind you soon enough.”

Before his sickle could carve a lethal trajectory, Daisuke disappeared. Ranger gnced down in arm at the small wound that split opeh his right eye, simir to the one he had inflicted on his prey.

“…The one will be in your back,” Daisuke said in a chilling tone. “I’m a very vengeful guy; I’m sure you uand.”

A muscle worked in Ranger’s jaw. His malevolent gaze shifted from Daisuke’s eyes to his shadow, but before he could use it to his advantage, his target once again disappeared.

  SLASHH!

The promised strike to the shinobi’s back came a sed ter, but its sting couldn’t pare to the wound inflicted on his ego. How could he, a shinobi, allow his adversary to nd an atta his back? His cool visage crumpled wheurned around, his teeth gritted.

Instead of the teleportation aspect of the Shadow Step skill, Ranger decided to exploit its speed.

  G!

His sickle found Daisuke’s dagger in a shrill explosion, and a grin stretched his lips, reassured he was able to intercept.

“Is that the best you do?” he taunted in a strained breath, applying more force to his on.

“No… it’s not,” Daisuke simply said, theivated Dash for the first time siering his stats.

  DING!

[The Swift Leather Boots’ option effect has been activated, invoking the Haste skill. Speed and Agility surge by 50% for the 30 seds.]

Ranger felt like a fish out of water—or more accurately, a scarecrow caught in a tornado. His body jerked violently as Daisuke attacked him from all ahe Lipanthyer’s Fang trag a gleaming trajectory as it feasted.

With a mere Strength value of 28, Daisuke could only inflict superficial wounds. Yet, his relentless barrage of attacks was so sistent that he kept triggering and applying the Bleed Status, steadily chipping away at Ranger’s health.

As his blood spttered onto the ground like the brushstrokes of a talented paihe shinobi grew increasingly breathless, the loss of blood and his futile attempts to retreat or retaliate draining his energy. In trast, his adversary only seemed to grow swifter with each passing moment.

Instinctively, in a desperate bid to inflict more damage, Daisuke retrieved the Bloodstained Short Sword he had acquired from Rohan. Though it was clearly several levels above his own, what happened caught him off guard.

  DING!

[You do not currently meet the ditions required to wield the ?Bloodstained Short Sword?. sequently, the on’s Attack Power will decrease by 50%, and only a fra of the option effects be utilized.]

Daisuke marveled at the newly discovered perk that being part NPC had blessed him with. If he yer, fet the on’s power being nerfed, he wouldn’t have been able to equip it at all.

Pushing the thought aside, he allowed himself to be swallowed up by his wrath once more. His ons struck out like the fangs of a serpent, ripping through leather and fabric to carve crimson lines into their prey’s skin.

Ranger swung his pair of sickles around mindlessly, wasting precious energy. But Daisuke showed her pity nor remorse. With each time his bdes found defenseless skin, he saw an image of the people who the Mhaledictus had hurt—Zephyr, Reeza, Petu, her husband, the dozens of people being held captive, and not to mention the Beastfolk at Elmridge vilge.

  DING!

[Lightning Edge has been activated. Your ons will be enveloped iricity for 25 seds, sharpening your bdes and adding elemental damage to your Physical Attacks.]

  FLASHH!

Ranger’s muscles tensed, log in pce as crag tendrils of electricity danced across his frame like vengeful serpents, rendering him immobile. A primal roar erupted from his throat as Daisuke closed in, the electrified bdes now cutting deep into flesh as opposed to just skin.

“Skewering Shadows!” Ranger bellowed as he stabbed his ons into the ground, his teeth bloody, his eyes crazed.

Daisuke sprang upward just as dozens of dark spikes shot up from the ground, narrowly avoiding them by mere microseds. With a roar rivaling that of the shinobi’s, he propelled himself off the ceiling and drove his bdes downward, plunging them into the bastard’s shoulders.

Raifled a pained roar—instead, he shook off his enemy and hurled a smoke bomb to the ground before disappearing into the shadows. Daisuke pursued, only to find the man’s ons scattered a few feet apart and a trail of blood leading into the darkness, where his adversary had vanished without a trace.

“That bastard,” Daisuke cursed as he removed his mask, his golden eyes sm. “Did he use that annoying Shadow Step skill again? Dammit!”
